One of Maya Jane Coles' songs is Run with the Wild. So I think that's another "Big Wild" clue though that would be 4 clues (instead of 3) if BW is a clue for Big Wild and not just a coincidental placement of "BW".
Young Thug is out on #buklue. Here is the back of the card.
I'm told Wyclef Jean and Digits are songs of his. This says 4 clues. But I don't know enough to get the other two. Fwiw the front is the cover of his new album with him dressed in drag.
However, this card has "Feed Me" in the bottom right. Feed Me played last year, so I don't think he would be back that quick at Buku. Perhaps there was a collaboration or remix at some point?
Slime is also in there...don't know what that means though

Looks like Young Thug does a song with Yak Gotti, "Slime Shit". Got some voice tuner work on it, so I automatically almost don't like it. But still...
Man, this is not shaping up pretty poorly. Wish current lineup was looking more like 2013
I liked 14 best (Lotus, Explosions in the Sky, Beats Antique, Flaming Lips, NAS doing Illmatic, Bone Thugs) though 13 and 15 good too. 16 was a lot of fun, but that was because of the quality of some of the rap shows and the future funk with GRiZ, Pretty Lights, Break Science and all those cats.
This year, they have only issued mid and lower card acts I guess so that the headliners and subheadliners don't get out. Most of what they have out is rap and trap.
Calm down folks, if Maya is anything, it's probably Maya Jane Cole
Yeah. I think that was the clue back to the artist on the card.
I wouldn't bank on buku having that much alt rock as it used to. It's going to be very heavy on rap and EDM from here on out
That's okay for what the festival is. They want to light that shit up with high energy. But I do want some of the other stuff they always brought along at least until the Goldenvoice buyout. Think back to 15 which had TV on the Radio, Portugal, Tribe and Raury. Odesza was 6th on the Float Den lineup behind Die Antwoord, Porter Live, Floss, RL Grime and Borgore.

My girl has told me the same thing. She is street team. She said to not expect much indie/alt rock, that they are moving towards more rap/hip hop & EDM. It makes me sad because I had gone every year except this year and it looks like I won't be going back.

I really liked the diversity at Buku. My first year I saw STS9, ASAP Rocky, Empire of the Sun, Boosie Badazz, and Die Antwoord all back to back.

I know! I thought that they had a very solid formula. I can't believe that they are changing it up. I guess those kids with their bleep bloop blop sells more.

But I'm a kid that wants more than just bleep bloop

Awwwww. I am so glad that you want more than just the bleep bloop. It makes my heart happy...now to get BUKU to listen.

I think a lot of people my age like more than just bleep bloop. It's just bleep bloop is easy to sell and easy to book.
Agreed. And I'm fine with some of those sets. People want to hate on him, but I'll go see Datsik almost anywhere. But it's gotta be more than Slander and those types of acts that just are sort of run of the mill. Give me some diversity, and with Buku, hopefully plenty of rap and hip hop but don't lean exclusively on the new-hype type hiphop. And since we already know Vince Staples is a go, that's a pretty good start even if 21 Savage and Young Thug are more new breed even though YT has been around a while.
I have expected Goldenvoice to tweak it a little to a formula that will continue to sell out as it has every year since 2013. I have just been hoping that they won't make it a proving grounds for chump-pop acts (rock, indie hiphop or whatever) that will just graduate to their other festival assets later that year or the next. Bring some edge in all the genres, and I'll always have a good time there.

that was a good year .
Yeah. I thought 13, 14 and 15 were all excellent for what they brought. From Primus in 3D and Public Enemy, through the indie-instrumental year of 14, then 15 as you noted. The thing about 15 was that the best set I saw was an after-party 2am set with GRiZ onstage with Pres Hall. Fucking ruled.
And even 16, though Vieux wasn't a fan, ended up being a blowout. I can always find something to like unless it's pop heavy. And as long as the Winter Circle Productions guys are still tied in with the festival, they should keep it from going too far pop. I'd rather Huka was still involved but that goes for just about every festival they were involved with booking and promotions.
Yeah. I would too but that's a different animal. I love New Mastersounds and Shamaar Allen and Dirty Dozen. Plus Moon Taxi and Cage are good too. I think these are completely different animals. I don't know what Goldenvoice is going to drop on Tuesday, but they didn't seem to do any headliner cards this year at least that I've seen or heard of whereas last year they did Pretty Lights, GRiZ and Cudi cards among others. Only thing they hinted at was they would be bringing back some B2B sets. I'm okay with Big Wild, Vince and TroyBoi so far, and Young Thug should hopefully be decent. But those are all low and midcarders at least in my opinion.
