Malaa & Lil Dicky (and not pictured but I've seen the card to is Sleigh Bells).
Nice on Sleigh Bells. They were raucous last time I saw them. Don't know Malaa so I'll have to check her out. I saw another Buklue last night that said it was a late night clue (meaning clue was posted late night not a late night show) . It was a chick DJ with glasses with hypnotic spinning pattern and headphones. Someone said DJ Rezz but idk.
*edit* lmfao at Lil Dicky card Buku Level of a few inches. Hahahaha
Yeah that's it sloan. I can't find the link. Out at Baauer last night some people were talking about Justice as HL, but I have no idea. Seems Justice is always a rumor so IDK. I met a street team person and they told me they didn't give them HL cards this year because too many got out too fast last year. They also told me they were told the Buklue word searches referred to the artist on the card. But if Feed Me or Odesza is on the lineup, maybe they threw some bones out.
Also, I haven't heard any rumors of Big G, but if they play, it would be Friday as they are in WV on Saturday. Juicy J is out as he's booked both nights.
Tickets go off line tonight at 11:59 and come back at the regular price on Thursday until they sell it out in March. Lineup is tomorrow and outside of figuring out the Buklues they released, I've got nothing. Here's hoping Justice, M83 and Flying Lotus make the lineup and maybe a couple of oldschool rappers are on the bill.
*edit* Someone did tell me last night that they heard MGMT would be on the bill. That's take it or leave it for me.
Part 1. They always (have) release(d) more shit later on. And it's about 15 acts light at the moment. This isn't the greatest BUKU lineup ever BY FAR, but it's got some halfway fun shit. Missing about 10 mid/upper cards
Dead Mau 5 Travis Scott Zeds Dead Young Thug Zhu Tycho Jauz 21 Savage Sleigh Bells Vince Staples Nina Kraviz Lil Dicky TroyBoi Lil Yachti (lmao) Washed Out Malaa Slushii Ghastly B2B Herobust Alina Baraz Thundercat Lido Clams Casino Rezz $uicideboy$ The Floozies Car Seat Headrest Big Wild Amine' Shiba San B2B Justin Jay San Holo Opiuo Lane 8 Sophie Nora En Pure Minnesota B2B Space Jesus <--- Kaiydo Wehethan Oshi Ambre' Af the Naysayer Caddywhompus Boggie T MUSA B2B Otto SFAM Lleauna Ekali Ganja White Night Chet Porter Andrew Luce Pusher Stelouse Saint Heron Showcase Dohm Collective Showcase
It's pretty light for me this year too since I don't really like Deadmau5. What I'd see, and I know about only half the lineup:
Tycho Travis Scott Sleigh Bells Vince Staples TroyBoi Washed Out Ghastly b2b Herobust Minnesota b2b Space Jesus Thundercat Opiuo Big Wild The Floozies
I'll research more. It's enough for me, because I love Tycho. I'll be seeing them at Day for Night in 2 weeks, so this will be the 4th time I got to see them.
Bleh. Car Seat Headrest gets awesome reviews where ever they go. Lil Dicky should be on everyone's list. I may have to skip sxsw so I was hoping this would be better but I think I'll stay in Austin.
Don't know her/them. I'm spending today between work looking up stuff that might be of interest to me. What I did catch since I found that lineup was that the DOHM Collective and the Saint Heron (Solange Knowles project) will be "wildcards" at the front porch. Not sure what these projects will involve. Also AF the Naysayer runs The Upbeat Academy which teaches kids sound engineering "Af the Naysayer is super talented on several levels, and he's starting to get some traction across the country," DiPasquale said. "He's not just creating great music, but also changing these kids' lives everyday. It's cool to have it come full circle and have him be on the event."
First reactions: 1. WTF Travis Scott is a headliner now? Should be a crazy show anyways. But I don't see him as any bigger than Future or ASAP Rocky from past years 2. Hip hop lineup looks fun, Vince Staples, 21 Savage, and Young Thug should be a rowdy good time 3. wtf Car Seat Headrest is going to be there? That's awesome. I wonder how the crowd will respond though..... 4. Sleigh Bells, Washed Out, Clams Casino, Thundercat....nice nice 5. HOLY CRAP THEY GOT SOPHIE I'M THERE
So overall not a very stacked lineup. Has me wondering if they are leaving out some big additions. But this lineup is way better for my tastes than last year. It's no 2015 though. But I'm in for this and probably out for Okeechobee
This seems pretty light on the cheese EDM. At least compared to previous years.
Unusually so. Almost like they're waiting for a reason.
There's a lot of deeper house type shit on this with all the DJ's from around the world (saw South Africa, Russia, Norway, among others on the list), and a lot of up and coming DJ's. I did a bunch of listening samples. The **** I liked that I didn't know was Kaiydo, Boogie T (local dub guy, he's pretty good) and Ekali. .

Ekali on the boat will be the bet show on their since Bixel Boys.

You getting that VIP again? The last sets I remember seeing on there was some of Vibe Street or Sweater Beats last year and then Gravity A performing Talking Heads in 2015. Those were the only years I did VIP (went 13, 14, 15 and 16). I'd assume Gaslamp Killer & Friends featuring Preservation Hall Brass would have been good in 2014.
