That was literally the entire debate. The overwhelming majority of people want acts that they know (headliners and preheadliners: U2, Macca, Kanye, Beyonce, Gorillaz, Lorde, Arctic Monkeys, Childish Gambino, Run the Jewels, Travis Scott, ect.. Thats who moves tickets). Not undercard acts that they don't know, but happen to be rare bookings (they are rare for a reason usually).. But anyway, we went in depth with this and this isn't the thread to be discussing it again.

You've been right all along man, my apologies. So many ppl on social media saying Gorillaz are cool, but they will only buy a ticket to this if Daniel Avery and Todd Terje are also on the lineup.

Imagine if they made the mistake of having LCD headline one night though. No way this thing could sell then.

The speculation on if Bicep, Four Tet, or Leon Vynehall will be playing is off the charts; I totally thought people would be wondering if Drake, Kendrick, or Future were on here.
You mean how they played a NYC fest last year and barely 25k showed up at a venue thats supposed to hold double that number.
They sold it's big brother (the largest fest in the US) the same year so I don't get your point.
That fest would have sold out no matter who was on the lineup. Just like Lollapalooza sold 100,000 tickets a few weeks ago without even having a lineup till a day later too.
LCD headlined the most important festival in America and it sold out. These fests must being doing something right.
Well now you can see them at the third string, 20k person festivals this summer; headlining next to Beyonce's little sister, Odesza, Major Lazer, or playing second fiddle to the 8th name on this years Bonnaroo poster. Unless they wind up having to cancel due to low ticket sales.
LCD would have to be paired with someone else... Just like Panorama decided to bump Sia up to a top line billing after they noticed the tickets werent moving. And just like ACL had to get Mumford to the play the same day. Let LCD share a top line next to Future or something and itll be fine.
I mean tbh we kinda have an experiment in the more mainstream festivals of these two hypothesizes this year with Firefly and Gov Ball. Firefly has, for college kids, heavy hitters in The Weeknd, Chance the Rapper, and Twenty One Pilots, but almost a non existent depth. Gov Ball has two headliners that arent that big for the under 25 crowd in Phoenix and Tool, but a massive undercard. It certainly looks like Firefly is struggling, but the Saturday of Gov Ball hasnt sold out yet either.

Obviously not like that. Drake - Gorillaz - Future - LCD Soundsystem would probably work. Drake - Gorillaz - LCD Soundsystem, would leave you hoping Drake and Gorillaz can move enough 3 day tickets to cover the spread.

Went from being listed 3rd at Bonnaroo last year. To being listed below The xx (the 8th name on this years Roo poster); at a 40k person festival in a near by market. Stocks gone down.

So are you saying The Dead/Pearl Jam have the kinds of fans who would not travel to an event like this? And Drake/Gorillaz/Future fans would? Or was it that LCD just bogged down the former that much? Because it sounds like you think adding an act like Future would solve things, when Bonnaroo basically did just that with J. Cole, Ellie, and Macklemore.

True - but then picture how desperate a fest must be to have Phoenix headline a night in 2017. Right?

Paired next to Childish Gambino in one of his only shows of the year. Pair LCD with Gambino or Future or Lana and theyll do fine too.
are you saying that if Bonnaroo put JCole next to LCD instead of on the next line it sells better?
No. Bonnaroo is meant to be a 75k-80k person festival. Governors Ball is meant to be a 50k person festival... Last year didn't Roo come in just below 50k? J Cole and LCD together on the same day would work great for Gov Ball. Not Bonnaroo.
Phoenix and Gambino as the top two on the same day would not work for Bonnaroo either. Working great for Gov Ball though.
