So do you think combining rare acts like The Avalanches, Air, Ronson/Parker with other proven undercarders and Marshmello garbage isn't also a selling point? It's mostly because Childish Gambino is 4th?

Go look at the poster. The order of billing is the order of importance to ticket sales.

So do you even need an undercard at all?
edit: because if you are saying 50K went to Bonnaroo soley for The Dead and Pearl Jam and the rest stayed at home because LCD sucks, couldn't they just have saved themselves tons of money by only billing the headliners because that's the only reason people go anyways?

Side note: I would be absolutely shocked if they didn't sell single day tickets to this thing.
I love the Gorillaz to death and now I'm super pumped for this lineup, but there's no way that they're a bigger festival draw in NYC than Kanye West, or even The Strokes I would think.
Point being - if Gov Ball 2016's lineup had to sell day passes, I can't see a scenario where this fest wouldn't have to just because Gorillaz.

Yeah, I would disagree with this. I do imagine there will be single day passes though.

Conventional wisdom would agree with you, but the Gorillaz' US tour doesnt really make any sense unless the Strokes are actually bigger than they are. Gorillaz are doing shows at 4 venues that have capacities of 6,000 or smaller

I'd be cool with that top 3, but I don't see the xx coming back so soon. They're doing 2 nights at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens just 4 months earlier.

Yeah you should really just swap them with Bon Iver since they hinted pretty heavily that he'd be there. It'll be about 9 months since his run of BK shows so I think that's enough time that it makes sense for him to be back.
Gorillaz alone makes this extremely likely for me. Especially considering founders consistently has very impressive top to bottom lineups for my taste. Now if they could also add Hans Zimmer I'm sold. Cannot stop watching his performance on YouTube
Are we far out from the lineup? With Riot Fest dropping Wednesday, I could see myself spontaneously buying a ticket. Help me out here
I don't think they'll release this lineup until right after Gov Ball sells out or is very close to selling out (Early May usually I think). That way they in no way cannobolize each other's sales.
Funny thing is by shifting this up 2 weeks, it does really feel more like a late Summer festival than a Fall festival in October. So this could hurt Pano's late sales push I'd think - especially because Gorillaz feels like a Goldenvoice booking.
I honestly could give a half a fuck about that. I'm hoping you're joking
Well I was responding to the furby fella above who said he did care lol. And trust me, if you went last year, that is very welcome news and you should care.
Try standing around and dancing on pavement for two days. Youll be feeling that pain for the next week. Now the fest is three days, and its a month earlier (if its warm out, now you are chilling in a hot parking lot for those 3 days too).
Trust me, throwing down some astroturf is a pretty big deal to the quality of the experience.
I went last year, the pavement really didn't bother me. I find the dust clouds at gov ball that always used to give me a sinus infection 3 days before bonnaroo more annoying.

I didn't care about my knees or anything like that - I would just think turf is aesthetically pleasing and it's nice to not be constantly reminded that you're in the Citi Field Parking Lot.
And as Launchpad said earlier - Mid September in NYC can still very easily be 85+ degrees. The front portion of Gov Ball's main stage on pavement is annoying as is in that heat - a complete sea of asphalt would be brutal.
