Action Bronson is pretty decent live too. Honestly don't get the complaint, most of the hip-hop acts they booked are good live.
Was this just announced/leaked? This is awesome news!
that's what i'm asking. who here do you consider good live?
Quick look at the line-up and Nas, RTJ, Erykah Badu, De La Soul, Flatbush Zombies, Big Boi, Lizzo, and BBNG are all great live based on personal experience. Action Bronson is decent, MIA is hit or miss. Really wanted to see Joey Bada$$ at Gov Ball last year, but I think that was the day it got rained out.
Antibalas is not hip-hop but a surprisingly great get!
Kinda surprised more people here don't like it. I can't afford another trip to NYC this year but it would definitely be worth the cost to me.
Inforoo is its own bubble. Facebook, reddit, ect are nothing but positive reactions; and I have zero doubt in my mind that tix are going to move like crazy and sell out in no time. To the average person this is way more stacked than Gov Ball or Panorama. I am literally getting texts from ppl who are calling this the best lineup they have seen all year. I dont really agree with that, but its going to be fun as hell, and I am stoked.
De La is great live. They play some deep cuts, but in general their music gets the crowd moving.
Action is not bad live, but unless you're a huge fan it's going to depend on how much the rest of the crowd is into it. He's more of a lyricist than others so those tracks can slow the crowd down. At GovBall last year it was non-existent, but in front of a rap crowd like this it might be different.
Jay probably won't blow you away live, but his catalog of hits is so deep you'll have a good time even if you're just a semi-fan. He doesn't have as much energy as someone like Kendrick, but has a hell of a lot more songs that people sing along to.
Future has gotten better live, but you're pretty much know what you're going to get.

I'm not surprised. With hip-hop as big a genre as it is, and the unique rappers they managed to book, a lot oh whom are NYC royalty, plus the star power of RHCP, the coolness of Gorillaz, and the fact that its quality never really drops off, it's bound to appeal to a lot of people.
The name that keeps bothering me is Milky Chance. Why is any festival booking them? What draw do they have? They should be a band buried in the bottom half at best.

Needed something for flower crown girls sitting on their boyfriends shoulder crowd. Panorama already has Vance Joy. Guess they got stuck with them. Skip the set. I am sure something cool will be happening elsewhere.

i like it a lot. feels like what MIA could of been if it wasnt so fucking shitty. Jay Z, Gorillaz, Nas, Nectar (bite me), Weezer, RTJ, MIA, Badu, Foster The People and TVOTR would all be great. Def going to consider attending this.

Milky Chance is fun and have catchy songs. They're pretty good live.
Don't understand what's wrong with Vance Joy either, he writes good folk-indie-pop.
They're not harming anyone being on in the middle of the lineup for alt-nation fans. When I think of flower crowns I don't think of indie-rock.

Oh yeah, it doesn't affect whether I'd go or not, just included in my evaluation of the lineup. I can have a great time at a festival even if the lineup is just good, which is what I'm expecting with this.

Its not for me. But they are booked because it appeals to a crowd that you are clearly part of. Hope you make it and have fun.

This lineup is great and I think it will sell very well. I was ready for a decent lineup that had enough for me to attend a day since I live in NYC but this blew me away. It checks off a lot of boxes:
- It has the strongest hip-hop lineup of a New York Festival...ever. I'm not even a hip-hop fan really but the idea of seeing Jay-Z, Future, Run the Jewels, Nas, Migos, Big Boi - great mix of legacy and whats hot right now.
- Fun Festival Indie Rock: Maybe this is the Firefly in me but I love fun indie/alt-rock, even if the acts have their faults. Two Door, Foster the People, TV on the Radio, BCC, Milky Chance, Sleigh Bells, Broods, ST&BB, Arkells, Flor,
- Great Wildcards: Sky Ferreira, Blood Orange, Broken Social Scene, BADBADNOTGOOD. F*uck Yes.
- Headliners: No offense to Gov Ball which is also respectable but these are HEADLINERS with undeniable catalogs.
Only complaints: - Could have been perfect if they replaced Weezer with Haim/The National/QueensoftheStoneAge - just a less played out alt-rock name. - Was hoping for a Gallagher brother to be at this. Oh well that's more of a personal gripe.

Well done, Founders
FWIW one of those acts was up for a slot, but said they would only play if they got to headline. Went with a headliner that is a sure fire thing instead of taking a gamble on a questionable one and hoping it draws.

I bet it was QOTSA
Yeah that sounds a lot more like Josh Homme than any members of the National or Haim

I have a feeling tickets are going to move pretty fast for this; seeing a lot of people who dont even usually go to festivals talking about attending based on the big 3. Ill be grabbing my VIP pass first thing Wednesday. Stoked. Quoting the lineup again just because its nice to look at.

Tickets won't last long for this. RHCP and Weezer are the PERFECT rock acts to put on this bill. If QOTSA would've been on here instead of RHCP as a headliner the crowd around here would be loving this fest a lot more. However, QOTSA would've ended up playing to an 80% empty main stage...RHCP is the perfect radio-rock band with a huge stable of hits that all of these kids going to this grew up hearing from their parents, same with Weezer.
2017 festival recipe for success...books LOTS of hip-hop, 2-3 nostalgic rock acts w/radio catalogs, 2-3 indie acts that 15% of attendees know, big room EDM, a couple "alt" pop acts, and boom, you've got yourself a sell out!

Future might be fun to pop your head in to just witness the complete shit show, Swet Shop Boys are cool (if you watched that HBO show The Night Of, its that dude Naz), I dig Big Wild too.
If RCHP is closing Sunday (which it seems like it), I feel like Nas might get the spot against them similar to GNR at GovBall '13. I don't think he cares about crowd size and it would be a nice nod to Queens to have him essentially close out the fest.
I think Future is far too popular to be put on the 2nd largest stage. I could see him opening for Jay, unless they get scared off of what happened with Chance/Kanye last year.
