Damnit. I was down to only a couple of possibilities that night. But this throws a monkey wrench into plans. I've seen Chali 2Na a few times, but never with J5. And I've never seen Blackalicious. This is a maybe show for me.

Would def like to see Blackalicious. I've seen Gift of Gab a couple of times and he was incredible. Maybe the best rapper I've ever seen, (Have yet to see my fav Dr. Octagon)
IF you are on the ropes, I would def go for Toubab Krewe over Lettuce. Krasno ain't even with them anymore I thought. Toubab Krewe during JF will be a major blast. Would recommend getting there a little early as the Blue Nile gets super packed, but it is easy to get and stay up front if you aren't having to piss every 5 mins. (My 'secret' to maintaining the rail throughout Down On the Bayou shows is not drinking all day...ha! better than being annoyed at how shitty the Republic is if you aren't up front)

Krasno often plays with them still when they're in town though not always. Same for Nigel Hall. So barring other commitments, I think it's 50/50 that one or both are there. Night shows so far for me are looking like:
Thursday
Redd Kross (maybe)
Friday
moe. & Turkuaz (likely)
Saturday
STS9 (Definitely)
Sunday
STS9 Axe the Cables (Definitely)
Thursday
Jurassic 5 & Blackalicious (probably) but MM&W or Toubab are possible
Friday
Joe Russo's Almost Dead (probably - have tickets but might sell)
Saturday
Joe Russo's Almost Dead (probably - have tickets but might sell)

wed: crawfish fest->wolfman (probably) th: toubab (very likely) f: bayou rendezvous (100%) sa: ??? -> new mastersounds (100%) su: looking like either Tab and Sonny or MJ vs. Stevie (my group seems to be leaning towards the latter)

Anyone selling a moe Thursday ticket? Don't want to pay for all 3 shows. If not what's everyone doing Thursday? Nothing much interests me. Maybe Stanton Moore trio or Anders osbourne

I would have liked to have hit that moe. Thursday "intimate show", but I didn't get tickets for that one. I'm looking at Redd Kross for now. I still think there are 50-75 more shows that need to get added, probably 8-10 for that day alone, so I'm sort of in wait and see mode for now.

Show up and don't be a pussy. Fuck, TAB and Tribe for your birthday, then jet back to ATX, and come back for Panic Thursday and hit that fucking J5/Blackalicious show. All it costs is gas, tickets and booze.
It's been reported on JF Forums that Art won't be able to do any out of town shows for 50th Anniversary of Original Meters, so props out to y'all getting some of that. Medeski is catching keys on the road, so that will be an acceptable replacement. But still.
Backbeat Foundation sent out an email with some new shows at a venue I don't know down in the Marigny/Bywater called Sanctuary Cultural Arts Center at 2525 Burgundy. Nothing super great, but:
4/28 - Flow Tribe plus Big Chief Monk Boudreaux and the Golden Eagles
4/29 - Honey Island Swamp Band plus The London Souls
5/4 - Tank and the Bangas plus Mia Borders
5/5 - the Main Squeeze plus Too Many Zooz
In actually sick and exciting news, Mike Dillon Punk Rock Consortium plus Stanton Moore (Galactic, et al) will be playing Music Box at its new permanent home in Bywater just off Rampart near Poland Ave. This is guaranteed to be a trip ass show. For anyone who doesn't know, the Music Box Village used to be a roving percussion village where crazy ass unannounced acts would play. Because it's percussion based, and since Mike Dillon and his punk rock consortium (like 10 other great percussionists) plus Stanton Moore will be playing, that's fn ungodly. But it's 6:00pm Thursday which means it will be across town and in conflict with Widespread Panic. That blows donkey dix. I might have posted this one before, but here is Wilco there 2 years ago.
Here is an overview for anyone who doesn't know. They haven't announced other shows for Jazz Fest yet, but they will no doubt with some superstars.

THIS.
Saturday, April 29th at 1am **Technically Sunday, April 30th** Fiyawerx Productions presents The Heat featuring... Ivan Neville Oteil Burbridge Stanton Moore & Eric Krasno Late Night at The Maison during Jazz Fest 2017
finally Maple Leaf! (their site has since crashed) Supposedly the secret show is Leon Bridges. Wish i could be there for that. I will likely be going to that Jon Cleary w/ the AMG show on Saturday for my lead-up show to Mastersounds.

It's a sort of late show at 11pm. But if you are down near Oak Street beforehand, there are 4 or 5 pretty damn good places to eat down the block.
Jacques Imo's - Legendary Creole/Cajun via NY State (on Oak)

Good for you. The biggest problem with it is that they don't take reservations, so you kind of have to show up and put your name on the list unless you're there at opening. It's often a 90 minutes - 2 hour wait, but you can drink in the streets out front with everyone else and the owner while you wait. It's probably even worse during Jazz Fest, so keep that in mind along with another option open.
If you do happen to go, the alligator and shrimp cheesecake topped with that brown butter sauce is some of the best cheesecake there is. I don't even much like cheese (savory), but that's a home-run. Also, I have had the fried chicken there, and it's as good as anything else in the city. That potato crusted drum, drum pecan meneure, stuffed pork chop, bbq shrimp or cajun bouillabaisse would all be in the running if I was there eating tonight. Hahaha. It's been forever since I've been there. Daughter works at Cowbell, so we get a deal once a month where you get 2 entrees, 2 appetizers, desert and 2 cocktails for half price. So it seems usually when I'm on Oak, that's where we go. Bourre' is a couple of blocks around the corner and has unreal wings that are smoked and then fried, and their sister/main restaurant Boucherie is right next door. Both also rule should you find yourself on that side of town more than once.
-------------------------------------------------- Neville Family Gala was announced for the Hyatt first Thursday - Art, Charles, Ian, Ivan, Cyril, Jason and Septeto Nacional from Cuba. Tickets start at $550. Hahaha, but it's for a good cause.
Frenchmen Theater (?) Has a 10 harmonica player's show Wednesday (DAZE BETWEEN), says they're all native Louisiana with a backing band
Lots of small bands are filling in, and I saw but couldn't remember if I posted Mystical After Dark is at Carver Theater 2nd Friday with Partners N Crime 25th Anniversary Party, Mystikal with a live band, TBC Brass and DJ Jubilee
I also noticed that in Bayou Rendevouz, they have the 4am show with Lebo and Friends - Lebowitz & Adams from ALO, Stu Allen from Jerry Garcia Band and Jay Lane of Ratdog. 1:100 chance of me making that, but it will probably be great.
My new job start has been sort of pushed back to July so I may make this whole thing. Gonna chat w a buddy about it. Might just be the first weekend though.

First Saturday looks kind of nice now with how the schedule played out. May end up at the fest that day. Still looking like DSO, moe. first weekend then Friday & Saturday JRAD shows second weekend. Looking for late shows on each Friday. Also, I'd highly recommend the Axial Tilt shows at Cafe Istanbul for anyone not wanting to get secondary market JRAD tickets. That's where I'd be had I not gotten tickets.
