FWIW, Sos liked my tweet "Queens of the Road Rage?" Regarding the line up announcement.
Probably coincidence but i'm pretty sure QOTSA's new single is dropping around the same time as the SOS lineup.
SoS' social media mentioned they are excited that this year is booked w "headliners they've been wanting at FFF for years." So essentially it won't be a repeated artist and I believe QOTSA hasn't been booked at Sos.

My favorite band at my favorite fest. I want to believe.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but QOTSA are in Europe sos weekend.

I mean sound on sound is located at a European Anglo-Saxon based feudalistic medieval castle Campground so it is technically European

Any thoughts on ATCQ? I know it's a long shot but FFF/SOS have a dendency to get great throwback hip hop artists
RTJ, Young Thug and Big Boi were the hip hop acts last year. I suppose it is possible if they throw a lot of their hip hop budget at it.
ATCQ - ATDI - National would be a pretty welcoming top three and whereever Grizzly Bear fits these days.
Big boi is more or less a throwback in my opinion. But with FFF having gotten Wu-Tang, Nas, Run DMC, Slick Rick, etc I really hope this year follows suit. I believe ATDI is a big possibility but I don't see The National happening. Last year phantogram was top 3 I don't see them making that big of a jump with headliners. ATCQ The Shins ATDI Grizzly Bear ... Dinosaur Jr.

If they don't get Tribe (who admittedly are probably too big for the fest at this point), what big hip hop would they get? Last year they had RTJ, Big Boi & Thugger. I could see them getting like lil Yachty or post Malone towards the bottom of the top 12-ish but I just can't think of any big hip hop artists to be in the top 6. Danny Brown is gonna be in Europe & ATCQ is most likely a pipe dream. They could come out of left field with something like Mobb Deep or Digable Planets but neither of those are big enough to be top 6
How about MIA? There was a Euphoria Line Up poster that had her posted at like, #2 by one of the bigger acts, n when it dropped she wasn't there.
MIA is a possibility. FFF got her as #1 overall for the orange (alt) stage in 2013 but I mean she'd definitely count as a big hip hop act. Wouldn't she be like #1 or #2 overall though? Like she's not much smaller or more reasonable than ATCQ. Top 3 could be MIA Grizzly Bear ATDI
ATCQ fits what cmack said about MW booking headliners they've wanted since the FFF days. Actually all three of these fit that mold.
LCD - ATCQ - Shins
If LCD played this it would probably be a better show than ACL was, which was top 3, since they'll have new material to play.
ATDI and Grizzly Bear are more 4-6 than 1-3 for this.
Bummed about Qotsa, not just that they arent playing this, but the complete lack of Texas shows. Now Riot Fest is a 100% must for me.
You do understand that phantogram was #3 last year right? With Beach House being #1 overall. Grizzly Bear is most likely #2, ATDI is 3 or 4. At the drive in also fits what MW said about booking headliners they've wanted for years 2 of the top 4 are Grizzly Bear and ATDI, with 2 being unknown at this point (maybe the Shins, maybe Tribe, maybe the National). But there's no way both Grizzly Bear and ATDI are 4-6 and there are 3 headliners bigger than them.
Not that I wouldn't want to rage at LCD again (and will at VooDoo), but I feel like SOS/FFF fans would let out a collective sigh if that was the big act they pulled. I assume almost every fan of LCD at least went Sunday of either or both days at ACL.

Last year was different. They had to book the lineup on a limb in a way. They've had much more time, more money, and the reputation has gotten out that this fest is the tits. Expect a slightly bigger lineup. ATCQ-Phife is not THAT big. ATDI are like what, 10th at Riot? They'll get a boost here bc Texas but still not a headliner. Grizzly Bear could be a headliner, LCD is probably a shot in the dark.
Its hard to speculate on who is a headliner at this. We really don't know if they plan on growing the fest or if we should expect something similar to last year.
