This was somewhat contentious last year but what the hell. These are exciting days with multiple lineups arriving each week and we need something to argue about between drops so here are my rankings. Bold means I'm attending.
OK: Hangout > JazzFest weekend 2 > Governor's Ball > Hopscotch > Made in America > Life is Beautiful > Pemberton > Mysteryland > Okeechobee > Big Ears > Ultra
Bad: Sasquatch > Capitol Hill > Free Press Summer > Ill Points > Rock on the Range > Sloss > Beale Street > JazzFest weekend 1 > Moogfest > Loufest > Bunbury > High Water
To me every festival so far has kind of had its B+ game on. Nobody I think has aced it, nobody has posted a truly terrible lineup (though Okeechobee is looking pretty weak right now in lieu of adds).

I will say this. While Shaky's lineup isn't as good as previous years, I'm glad they downsized on the mainstream pop. It looked weird having Young the Giant, 1975, and Walk the Moon on there.

when coachella line up came out i was so disappointed and this will be my first year of not going after 9 straight years there. then everyone else announced their line up, and coachella started looking like the best one by far
Extremely disappointed in the Bonnaroo lineup but because I'm a big U2 fan I still gotta admit it holds more sway to me than most other festivals announced so far. That's where this whole business gets tricky because Bonnaroo costs twice as much as most regional festivals so that's why I'm going to Forecastle even though it "needs improvement" while passing on Bonnaroo which is "good enough". Same reason I'm skipping Coachella even though it is "really great" because flying across the country is extremely prohibitive.

Coachella, Movement, Panorama and Ultra and Okee due to sheer proximity are the only five that have vaguely interested me. The Jazzfest rumors make that sound good as well.
It seems like most U.S. festival lineups out so far feature plenty of yuck, some cool and/or interesting stuff and maybe one or two great artists. Most of the U.S. lineups are pretty boring except in the niche festival category. It's pick and choose how much I want to see a few things to value whether or not it's worth going to (e.g. Tycho and Grizmatik at Buku, Sigur Ros and Chance at Hangout, U2 at Bonnaroo, etc.).
If I lived in the desert, I'd go to Coachella. But I don't really agree with the great/exceptional/fantastic ratings. It seems pretty average by Coachella lineups. Saturday would hold the most interest for me based on what I know. Hopefully the stream will turn me onto a few things to look out for in the future.
I'm hoping Jazz Fest rumors are legit, because coupled with the independent night shows, it will probably repeat as having the most overall bang for my bucks. Maybe Lolla/ACL/Voodoo/Riots in the fall will feature some more exciting lineups?

Bang for your buck for sure but make sure your realize that it is spread over 2 weekends and also there will be conflicting headliners each day. Also the sets aren't terribly long and each day wraps up by 7:00 PM I do believe.

For sure. We usually go a few days every year because it's close to home. I'm trying to be hopeful since some of the leaks are big for me. What I want back is fn Wakarusa.
Sounds like a lot of you guys should be spending your summer in New York.
I'd love to make some of the NYC fests. I've never been up there and my girlfriend has family in Long Island. Nothing more than wishful thinking for now unfortunately.

Oh I totally agree for Coachella standards this is a pretty average lineup. But even an average Coachella lineup is 10x better than every other 2017 festival so far.
