(Yeah, I'm a homer. Sue me!)
You lost me, and the plot, at undefeated Penn State. I'll begrudgingly admit that they'll probably beat us this year, but they have to beat Michigan at home and Ohio State on the road. They won't do both.

Michigan loses to Penn State, Minnesota, and Ohio State.
I think I am most confused about how sure you are that Oklahoma are gonna be world beaters after losing Mixon, Perine and Stoops. I know Lincoln Riley is supposed to be a next best coach but damn.

I think Mayfield and co. have the weapons to do it.

Well, we might as do the preseason prediction thing. It's a rough September for your Pitt Panthers, as we face two top 10 teams plus our first conference road game is against the triple option.
Picking us to win two of those tossups, we go 7-5. I think we can win all of the tossups and truthfully think we could win all of the projected losses too. I just know we won't. If we win one of my losses, it will be OSU at home, as we took them to the wire last year in Stillwater and lost on a TD in the last two minutes. That game had a weird 90 minute or so lightning delay in the second half that really killed the momentum we had built. 3rd offensive coordinator in 3 years is Shawn Watson, hopefully his playcalling is better than fans thought of it at Texas. New transfer QB Max Browne is the 5 star USC kid who lost his job to Darnold, so I think the combo of him and Watson can really determine how the offense does.
And that defense - second worst FBS defense last year. Atrocious against the pass. Year 3 for Narduzzi's defense sees not much returning experience, but a whole bunch of guys I'm excited to see develop. I predicted 3 September losses because I think it will take awhile but there's enough talent to stem the tide. If we can figure out the QB situation, 2018 could be a big year.
Other predictions:
- PSU does not go undefeated and does not even win the Big Ten East - Big Ten is severely overrated (ok, that's an easy one) - Playoff teams - Alabama, Oklahoma St, Ohio State, SC (ACC is shut out) - First coach fired - sorry guys, Butch Jones gets canned in November. He's just not a good gameday coach. I'm not rooting for it but losses to Florida/Georgia/Alabama hurt, and that opener vs GT is tough.

I don't know enough about Pitt to comment on what you see their W/L as. Re: the other stuff, -Oklahoma St is a bold prediction for the playoffs. What's got you so high on them? -Some of the other Tennessee people may have different thoughts, but there doesn't seem to be that buzz/feel/anticipation about Butch getting fired this year as you might expect. I think this year is his toughest as far as fan opinion goes, but I doesn't feel like a year where the coach may get fired during the season. Of course, this could change if Tennessee loses to Vanderbilt and/or Kentucky. As you might remember, Dooley was limping through his last season until he dropped the Vandy game and he got dropped quick. All that being said, I do agree with you re: Jones. I think he is a 8-9 regular season win a year coach. That's just what his ceiling is.
Re: Tennessee - I don't think that Butch is gone unless things really go off the rails. Butch is still pulling in good recruiting, and even if Butch only gets 8 or 9 wins in the next couple years, that is still probably better than can be expected from bringing in another new guy. This year is a bit of an unknown, but I'm glad DeBord is gone. I actually think Larry Scott is gonna do well at OC, and as a former TE coach I hope he can get Ethan Wolfe more involved for the short passing game to take some pressure of a new QB and Jennings, especially since we don't really have a clear WR2. John Kelly looked great in every game he played last year.
Bob Shoop was a bit hamstrung by injuries last year, but also admitted that he should have adapted his D better. Hopefully he takes his own advice for this season. I am worried about our secondary, and losing our best LB right before the season hurts especially when opening with a triple option team.
But I am not really confident about anything, and we really need to beat GT, because I could easily see us dropping games to Florida, UGA, Bama, and LSU.

For once I don't think the Big Ten is particularly overrated. Ohio State should be better than last year, and Michigan should be about the same. Wisconsin plays nobody, so maybe there's an argument that their record will puff them up a little, but I don't think they're likely to implode in a bowl game. I would swap them with Michigan, but 9 and 11 isn't some huge difference. Penn State is a question mark to me, they seemed like they had a horseshoe up their ass last year, but will have a great offense.
And I think that's it in the rankings? Northwestern and Minnesota seem capable of sneaking in the top 25 but they're not there now. Iowa and MSU aren't around to get a bunch of hype and do nothing.

I dunno, seems about right to me.
I think four teams in the top 11 is a little much. If Wisconsin was bottom of the top 20 and PSU more like 12-13, I'd be on board. I also, while rooting for Michigan to topple OSU, wonder if Michigan will take a step back.
Though I don't want to hear about the Big Ten East being the best conference.
