So I have a question about this. The Chance strategy with every festival in the world booking him made sense last year. He had a hit album, insanely popular and hot with a ton of grammy and other nods, and seemingly wasn't that expensive to book since he was 3-4 on most bills.
From what I'm hearing Eminem is far more expensive to bill and will be a #1 on most lineups. So if every festival under the sun is getting him, is it worth paying that outrageous booking fee? His career was already on the downturn and it's not far from an exclusive booking, so I think this may speak to the pure desperation for headliners.
Eminem hasn't toured much of the country overall in the past decade. Plenty of basics who like his new stuff and will thus come out to see him. It's far from a desperate booking.

He essentially doesnt tour. NYC is a bit different than most because he did that show with Rihanna at Metlife in 2014, but for most markets he hasnt been there in a really long time. Em hasnt played DC since 2005, Philly or Boston since 2002. Its a massive booking for anyone who wants to see Em before he hangs it up and hasnt yet (which is a ton of people)
Love AF, do not understand the love for YYY's on here at all. I know they're from NY though so I'd get that billing for GBall. Wud prefer them at #4 with a better option at #3 personally.
def have an interest in this lineup but refuse to do any blind pre-sales with the way lineups are going so far. But being in Philly and having a place in Brooklyn (is it close enough to the site?) to stay for free makes this easily doable. I definitely dont care for Em post The Eminem Show and i cant even remember the last time i played any of his old stuff as i feel a lot of it doesnt translate that well to this day and age. But looking at past setlists (which seems to be the same from 14-17 lol) i can live with him as long as hes playing full tracks. Hearing My Name Is, Kill You, Lose Yourself, The Way I Am, and Sing For The Moment are prob worth it alone.

Depends where you are in Brooklyn. I live in BK Heights right across the river from downtown Manhattan and it still takes about an hour door to door to get there.

no idea, i have cousin out there. pretty sure ill see him over xmas so im gonna talk to him and get some logistics
and oh man with all the Slim Shady talk i went to listen to the new album but i coudlnt do it and instantly went to the first LP. This definitely wouldn't go over well now like i said but man im rocking out singing along to all of these tracks. I wonder if he would do Guilty Conscience with Dre at Coachella, that would be insane.

If hes close to Williamsburg you can take a shuttle from there.
Was Eminem's last album a success? I can't remember. He apparently hasn't toured much as someone mentioned above so I understand the festival saturation this summer.

From what I remember, as someone who doesn't care about Eminem, MMLP2 was fairly solid as far as recent Em goes, but didn't produce the kind of success/hits that Recovery did.
Eminem may be a down turn to people on here but he is most certainly not a down turn to the average basic person. Isn't his album #1, or going to be?
The album tanked and didn't sell well (it also sucked imo), but I agree. He's a rare get (doesn't really tour - few shows when he does) and a huge draw. He will move an insane number of tickets.

Wait, you haven’t seen his schedule for next year? Dude is everywhere but my living room. See the Shaky Knees thread.

For anyone hoping for David Byrne, he just announced some late July dates in Europe which could mean he's out for Panorama.
They're not directly conflicting, so can't say 100%, but I'd probably give the edge to Gov Ball on having him booked. Which hopefully bodes well for BC/Roo as well

As much as I’d love to see it, I can’t imagine a world in which GovBall books someone like David Byrne in 2018. Nobody in their target demo even knows who he is, do they?
