Well find you a line-up soon buddy!
It's looking less and less likely. We already got a house we're looking into renting for Coachella '19 but we gotta put half the money down upfront so we may just say fuck traveling to any fests this year and save the money for Coachella next year. We'll have miles to cover the flights, it's just the lodging/ticket. Just do Lolla/Riot and then local shows like usual. With Tool being at Rock On The Range, I'm hoping there's an outside shot they're either at Riot or maybe even Open Air Fest in July.
TBH there really isn't much of a reason to travel for festivals when you live in Chicago. We have a bunch of festivals and almost everyone plays here.
It is nice to get outta here sometimes, though. Hangout started the tradition because they used to have solid lineups and the vacation on the beach while it's still 40 degrees and shitty in Chicago was awesome. Did Roo for the first time last year and that was a blast too. It's just enjoyable to experience diff fests/areas. But this year the lineups seem more watered down than usual where it's just hard to justify it.

What genre do you tend to favor? Maybe I can point you in the right direction.

Just curious - where'd you book your house in the PS area and if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost (no worries if you don't want to share)?
This is super early to book so hopefully you got a good deal, especially if you had to put half up front.
Passion Pit would make sense. Played GovBall in 2012, booking spot seems right and they're playing an AEG/Bowery show in NYC next week, which would explain why it can't be announced yet.

This would make me so happy and make my wife so sad. That's one of the few artists on which we are diametrically opposed in our opinion.

Hasn't been submitted yet but we found one in Palm Desert like a mile from one of the shuttle stops on VRBO. After all fees it came to 1500ish for thurs thru mon. The place sleeps 6 people too. They want $793 up front, but it'd still be worth it to lock it in.

I mean I know of all the fests in the US from this forum. I'm looking for one that hits most of the genres like Roo, Coach, Lolla, etc. I def favor rock and will see minimal edm/rap, but again, part of it is the overall experience of the festival- stage set up, logistics, security, transportation to and from, location in general. Coachella has been a bucket list fest (like Roo was) for a few of us for awhile now so that's happening in 2019 for sure. But this year between the time of year the fests are or the lineup itself, it's lookin like a dud.

Having MSG take over BC definitely helped them out a ton. An act like say QOTSA are trying to angle themselves into headliner spots at other festivals. But since everyone wants to play The Garden for whatever sentimental reason; they have the ability to say "hey play our festival in this spot, and you guys can play the worlds most famous arena!"
The Garden is the worst arena in the area by the way.
I could be wrong, but for true arena-size bands like Depeche Mode and U2, it probably is OK. But because NYC has so many more people than most cities, artists that would play venues half or a third the size of MSG on other tour stops don't really have great shows in a full size arena.

Yeah, but Row 1 of Chase Bridge is a pretty great way to see a show and it's usually one of the cheaper seats in the house. One of the few redeeming qualities of the place.

I enjoyed their last album more than I thought I would.
