Haven't delved into the bottom half of the undercard yet but Sunday looks weakest to me. I don't have a reason to come in until Kali Uchis, maybe Billie Eilish, hits the stage. Someone put me on to some shit?
Single days on sale Thursday at noon. That Friday is looking real nice.
A few take-aways:
1) A pretty even distribution of acts I want to see across all three days. I'm glad about that.
2) YYYs into Jack White is going to be a great way to end the first day.
3) I am still on Halsey-as-Honda-Stage-closer watch. Given what's there, it's either her or Gaslight, and I don't know (maybe I'm wrong) if they're a big enough draw to close out a night. I've never had a GovBall day in which I didn't enjoy one or the other of the headliners at all, and I usually love staying until the last note is played, so I don't know what I'm going to do if it ends up being Travis Scott vs. Halsey, since I'm not into either of them in the slightest. I'll have to suck it up and try to enjoy one of them but, oof, that'd be anticlimactic for me.
4) My pleasure at the James Blake addition has been diminished by the idea that, looking at that lineup, he's probably going to be opposite YYYs or Jack White, right?
5) The Sunday schedule is going to be interesting near the end - I'd imagine we'd see N.E.R.D. into Eminem, which would mean CHVRCHES and Khalid likely lined up against them in some order. Thoughts on how that'll play out?

Depends what you're into, but...
- Confidence Man are kind of electroclashy - lyrics are a little obnoxious, but footage I've seen of their live show makes it look like a big party, and the music is, despite the trappings making me want to dislike it, pretty good.
- Alice Merton is cool. Good voice, decent songwriting, kind of reminds me of a junior version of Florence.
- Middle Kids are solid melodic rock from Australia - a bit of a throwback, but really good at it.
- The Struts are glam rock revivalists a la The Darkness. I think that set's going to be a lot of fun.

I kinda get the feeling Marshall Mathers could go unopposed. Maybe CHVRCHES could close Honda but I think they're a main stage act.
CHVRCHES > N.E.R.D > Em on the main, Uzi > Khalid or vice versa on Honda

3) I could also see it being Silk City as well - really not much info out there about that project yet. I'd be very surprised if Halsey wasn't on the mainstage (and against Travis) and Gaslight is 4th on the day.
4) I'd asssume so. & 5) I'd expect one of those two, pretty much a toss up. I'd lean slightly CHVRCHES

I don't mind if I have to trek across Randall's Island for the 6:45 - 8 Yeah Yeah Yeahs set on one side, 8-9:15 James Blake set on the other side, and then back for the Jack White set, but please Founders/LiveNation/Whoever else can help do NOT put any of them in that awful overcrowded tent!

Conflicts will of course blow this up, but I this is 2 pretty great days of music
Pond/WolfAlice/FlightFacilties/Alvvays -> Tash Sultana -> Maggie Rogers ->Yeah Yeah Yeahs -> James Blake (side stage or tent) -> Jack White
Moses Sumney -> The Menzingers -> Brockhampton -> Japandroids -> Gaslight -> Cut Copy (tent before headliner) -> Travis Scott (it's gotta be fun at least right)

Gaslight Anthem could easily close Honda Stage. Not that they are guaranteed a large crowd, but it makes sense given prior acts that closed that stage (Damon Albarn, Ryan Adams).

A fair point but, for what it's worth, Damon Albarn was 4th on the by-day lineup for Friday of 2014, and he closed against Outkast.
On the other hand, that's the only time in the past five years someone listed lower than third on their day was a co-headliner - usually, it's top 3. It could be Silk City, I suppose, although the fact that it's a brand new project (even with two big names involved) makes me wonder if they'd merit that placement. Then again, there are four and a half months to go; they could release something in the interim that blows up everywhere and be huge by the time June rolls around.

This all day
If Gaslight gets the Honda stage hammer I will be so delighted - I am not at the point if they are not getting 90min+ I will be devastated
Halsey main > Silk City tent > Travis Scott main makes so much sense- but I am not sure if they think the white dudes with guitars that they have can pull enough of the crowd to do it. But it would be wonderful

Since Gaslight is playing a full album show they should really get 90 minutes

Yeah, I thought this might be a factor, but the run time of the entire The '59 Sound album is only 41 and a half minutes. They could get through the whole thing and 4 or so other tunes in an hour.
Which, of course, doesn't mean they won't get that 90-minute slot. It just means the full-album run doesn't demand it, necessarily.

Never been to a Gaslight show - do they tend to jam a bit and extend their songs / audience banter?
If not, then they can totally play the full 59 Sound in an hour slot and throw in a couple greatest hits.
Im just hoping that with the obvious thought that went into the single day scheduling (well done gov ball) that they don't then bone over the young and dumb crowd by having Halsey v Travis and the older smarter crowd by putting gaslight on before Travis and comingling the crowds
