What's everyone's opinion on good seating for MSG. Like would you rather be far away but in the upper section and directly across from the stage? Or is it maybe better to get one on the side and closer?
I'm pulling up tickets in the middle 200's (208-213) and then way across from the stage (floor-ish but way in the back for sections 01 and 03. Or in the upper decks).
So conflicted about these
I find that it's the lower the better, no matter the distance from the stage, with MSG. Other's opinions may vary. I think sound, sightlines, and crowd energy all suffer further up. So depending on the price difference I'd try for something lower.
If all options are upper levels, I tend to prefer the side for all arena shows, but that's just me

Yea, I'm looking at the floor sections for 1 and 3 and those are tempting even though far away. And the price of those is similar to some of the better upper section ones. Definitely expensive but I feel like this show will be awesome.

Closer to the stage, the better, even if that means being higher up. The last couple times I was there, I sat in 102 and 103 and hated how far away it was.

I'm seeing some 2nd row seats available for section 03. I really don't want to regret my seat choice because how expensive these are lol. Way too unsure.

I got my tickets for Sec 3 row 3 I think. I'd definitely go with those over the upper deck. The 1/2/3 sections in the back of the floor are elevated slightly, which I like because you're not struggling to see over a sea of heads.
If I had to sit in the upper deck though, I'd prefer to be directly facing the stage as opposed to on the side. You never know what kind of production the stage is gonna have, and sometimes being on the side robs you of the intended experience (i.e. the Yeezus tour).

I don't know if I want to pull the trigger on the sec 3 seats or risk getting something closer in the regular sale. Hmmmmmmm. Such a tough choice. I'll probably keep going back and forth on it for a few hours lol

I wouldn't bank on getting closer seats tomorrow, only cuz I feel like a majority of the floor tickets are platinum/hot ticket packages.
But also, I'm pretty convinced that a second night might get added, so that show may be a little easier.

If you asked me a week ago if Gambino could sell out Madison Square Garden at an average $150 a ticket, I'd have laughed. But this definitely looks like it'll be a sell out. I'd guess tomorrow will instantly sell out the floor, lower bowl, and the cheap seats, and will have those $129 upper bowl seats lingering for a couple weeks.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Kendrick Lamar/SZA is struggling to fill Jones Beach at the same price point. I guess when you remove events from the city (especially Manhattan proper), less people are inclined to go.

I wonder how the MSG show for the Kendrick/SZA tour is doing. Jones Beach is an odd venue in terms of sales. Shows usually sell like crap until like the week before. I think the big thing with Gambino is it's his first tour since 2014, and he's labeling it as his final tour. Plus he has a pretty popular opening act.

Gambino tickets purchased. The floor/sections 1 and 3 that I saw earlier were no longer available for me. Did get section 119 which should be pretty solid. Can't wait for this show. I hate buying tickets so far in advance.

The ticket prices for this show are ridiculous....so glad I got to see him at GovBall

Looks like I predicted correctly....30 minutes since the regular on sale for Gambino and all that is left now are some of the front rows of the upper deck that are $129 each. Surprised they didn't immediately announce a second night.

Continuing the topic of crazy expensive concerts, I just got curious and looked at the 30 Seconds to Mars show at MSG. I have no desire to go, but I was just curious. Lower bowl tickets are $170 after fees and upper bowl are almost $100 after fees. WTF! When did this surge happen? And who the hell would pay that much to see this band.

Not related to Gov Ball but my local Live Nation summer amphitheater that has all of the normal ZBB, Skynyrd, etc. shows that hit all of those same type of venues had $15 tickets on Groupon to almost every show last year. This year the Groupon tickets haven't been less than $30. There has been a big surge in prices over the last year.

Notwithstanding the fact that NYC is more expensive than elsewhere in the country: the industry has discovered that the upper middle class demographic is willing to pay these prices. At the expense of everybody else.
Well Gambino didn't sell-out the The Garden, and pretty much looks like Smashing Pumpkins situation..no one is willing to pay that much for upper seats.
Over time I've learned when it comes to MSG a lot of the lower level seats get taken by scalpers. And typically if those upper level seats aren't selling and the show isn't sold out when the week of the show rolls around you'll be seeing tickets for under face all around the venue

tix have been on sale for a day...
ahh even worse, let see how long these seats remain (is it too early to call it GROUPON?)

Hey, d00dz, it was requested over in the Pano thread that someone create a NYC shows thread, since so much of the convo there and here has turned to non-festival NYC shows...of which there are a stupid large number, this year.

That tour has pretty stacked support (draw-wise) with Walk The Moon, Misterwives and Joywave buy, yeah, seems ambitious in both venues and pricing. I bet they can do like 6-7k in sales and then paper the rest. 30STM is huge in Europe so I imagine they'll have a crazy big production for this tour which drives up the cost.
