Interesting - the "low ticket warning" e-mail we got this year says only two single-day GA passes are close to selling out, at this point...and "close," this year, means 2,394 left for Saturday and 1,973 left for Sunday. By comparison, last year's similar e-mail at this time had only 749 tickets left for Friday, and 1,412 left for Saturday.
I'm curious to see how this plays out, sales-wise. First, that there's no mention of Friday makes me think that it might be the Sunday '17 of this year's festival, which kind of surprised me - I know Jack White and YYYs are geared towards us olds, but I thought Post Malone and the Shawn Mendes addition would pump some life into it for the kids, and that Saturday would end up being the weakest-selling day, overall. Shows what I know. Second, it definitely seems like overall sales are down, although I'd certainly attribute that more to the overall down year in festivals than anything GovBall might be doing or not doing. And, I'm guessing that, whatever happens this year, GovBall's going to be fine, especially if the rumors about this being the last year of Panorama are true.
(In other news, I'm way overanalyzing all of this as a means of escapism from a shitty work day and the soul-crushingly depressing state of the world. Don't mind me)
If Post Malone and Jack White switched spots on the poster I think tickets would be moving a lot quicker. Post has a summer tour that is 97% sold out, averaging about 20k per city...where as, Jack White has tickets selling for under face value on the secondary market in cities like Rochester, Toronto, Vancouver, San Diego, and London.
[ br] My Jack White tix were $30 below face after fees. That person probably took a $45 loss each ticket total and the seats were awesome

I posted this elsewhere, but here in Austin, lawn tix were soldout for Post at $80.00 per while JW and a few other big artists (QOTSA, insert pop country star, Foo Fighters) did NOT sell out at $40 per. It will be interesting to see where he is in 2019.

Gov Ball doing James Blake vs Jack and not Post vs Jack was a very dumb move imo
FYI Sat and Sun expected to sell out within the next few days.
So THAT's why I only see Friday promoted posts on my social media feed. I assume Fri will still have a decent turnout but likely discourage them from leaning on 00's rock/indie acts in years to come.

The friday struggle is pretty surprising to me. As much as I dont like his music, Post Malone is the hottest tour right now with many shows selling for $200+ I dont understand why hes not selling in NYC
Could very well be the only date for NY, in which case I stand corrected.
Yeah it looks like he skipped both the Jones Beach and PNC Holmdel, which are the 2 amphitheaters in the area.
Think the mistake on Friday is the James Blake booking and scheduling. So much crossover with Jack White. Kids aren't going to buy the day pass if there is nothing for them to end the night.
I feel like if that was A$AP Rocky, Zedd, or Lil Yachty (just examples) the day might be selling out.

So my working assumption on the James Blake scheduling is that, that slot was supposed to be Byrne and they wanted to give him a full 1:45 and a nighttime slot in order for his full show. So when he dropped, the rest of the schedule was already locked in and they decided to book someone that is in a somewhat similar mold to Blake and then gave him the same slot

Interesting theory since Founders said on the AMA they really wanted David Byrne. But I would assume that once Coachella booked Byrne, that locked him into Pano as well. And Coachella booking must have been done before Gov Ball.
Jack White versus Byrne would have made no sense though.
woulda made sense if you wanted to get a full 21 song Byrne set and a full 21 song Gaslight set. Only 5 1:45 minute spots. Launchy also has said they had Byrne but it fell through at the last minute

my theory on why he dropped from Gov Ball is that Byrne saw how well his tour was selling and knew he wanted to do a second round of shows in major markets including NYC, and his reps went to gov ball and asked about it and gov ball said no. then he dropped and went to pano and added the two dates in September. all baseless speculation on my part but this is my hypothesis.

David Byrne vs Eminem would have then been a better fit, similar to Gaslight Anthem vs Travis Scott.

I dont think this festival was ever going to schedule against Eminem. Maybe im wrong.
