I hate to be cynical, because I think we're seeing some really fantastic artists listed already (and I thought the last line-up was pretty fantastic)... but I can't forget the fact that Live Nation purchased AC Entertainment last year, and do wonder if that has any affect on the event.

Can you share a source for that? All of the articles I've read have simply said that LN acquired a majority share of AC:
Live Nation has gone out and acquired a majority stake in Bonnaroo co-founder and Forecastle promoter AC Entertainment... Live Nation will get a roster of events that includes Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee, Forecastle and Sloss Music & Arts in Birmingham.

They specifically wrote Big Ears out of the deal. Live Nation has 0% of the festival.

If I understand correctly what Ashley said early in 2017, Big Ears Festival was spun off from AC Entertainment a while back into an independent 501C3, and Live Nation has no role in the operation.
