My continuously updated schedule (as of 2/22) -
Conflict are preventing me from seeing serveral other top picks: Jenny Hval, Duet for Theremin & Lap Steel, Rova Channeling Coltrane, Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda, Kelly Lee Owens, Arto Lindsay / Paal Nilssen-Love, Roscoe Mitchell Trios, Evan Parker Electro-Acoustic Ensemble, Laurel Halo (Live w/ Eli Keszler), and Susanna...
Godspeed You! Black Emperor (why are they not playing at the Tennessee?!!!)
The venue selection makes me really want to show up early for Jenny and then just ride it out through GYBE. If it makes you feel any better, the capacity for the Mill and Mine is 1,200. The capacity for the Tennessee is 1,631. It's a substantial difference but not nearly as much as I make it out to be in my head. Despite seeing shows there for years, I always grossly overestimate the size of the Tennessee.

My main issue is that I want to sit down in a comfortable chair during GY!BE's set!
Hi! I’m considering heading up for Sunday of this fest. I’m just sort of confused on the venue setup,I’ve only been to festivals with different stages, never different venues. Also, I’d only be going really to see Rostam,Julie Byrne, and maybe Suuns. How early would I have to get there to guarantee a good spot for Rostam?

With Rostam having the noon slot on Sunday (which is really surprising btw), your biggest concern would be that you can only get there so early because of when the venue will open. Aside from that, I can't imagine that a noon set on Sunday is going to be packed out, so I wouldn't worry to much about it.
Thursday: Anna Thorvaldsdottir: 'In The Light Of Air' performed by International Contemporary Ensemble > Susan Alcorn > Jenny Hval > Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Friday: Bang on a Can All-Stars 'Field Recordings' > Jaga Jazzist > Steve Gunn > Milford Graves > Rocket Science (Peter Evans, Sam Pluta, Craig Taborn, Evan Parker) > Algiers > Jon Gibson's 'Visitations' > Susanna > GAS
Saturday: Jenny Scheinman presents 'Kannapolis'> Evan Parker Electro-Acoustic Ensemble > Bang on a Can All-Stars: Julia Wolfe's 'Anthracite Fields' > Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda: The Ashram Experience > Laurel Halo (Live with Eli Keszler) > Kelly Lee Owens > Four Tet (though I may cut this for ROVA)

I’ve already got my sleeping bag in the washing machine. I’m ready for this.
E to say that’s awesome the gave shouts to both Basilica Soundscape and Le Guess Who. That’s the two festivals that I’ve seen this idea and a natural progression for BE.
I’m seriously bringing a sleeping bag and decided to skip Four Tet
Happening announcement. Stoked about the Market Square stuff. I’ll probably only be able to make a little of Saturday though.
Still a great idea and one I hope they continue.
Not my thing at all... but at least it helps reduce the conflicts
Jam sessions were my introduction to weird. As a kid I used to go with my mom to listen and congregate. Some end up not going anywhere but every once in a while, it’s truly a magical experience.
If its not your thing, I can respect that. I wouldn’t write it off just yet though.

I won't write anything off... but I'm entering with an unhealthy degree of skepticism There was a time in my life where I would have loved this portion of the line-up (in the early 90's I used to attend Bluegrass and Folk festivals, including the fantastic Winnipeg Folk Festival). But with the exception of a few artists, my interest in the genres has really waned over time. And like I said, "not *my* thing" - I totally understand why others love it.
Barring unforeseen circumstances I'll be attending for the first time this year! I'll be flying in to BNA and renting a car to drive to Knoxville. I have a tentative schedule on the Big Ears website, alas I can't link to it and I don't quite feel like writing it out here at the moment. Looking forward to this!

Yeah, It looks like the linking feature was removed this year... which is too bad. I had a bunch of people to coordinate with, so I just made one on Google Calendar.

Full film lineup and schedule is out. Love that they're playing Jackass 3D.
May have talked the ladyfriend into Saturday for Bela/Abigail and Jerry Douglas. Told her she would probably enjoy Black Twig Pickers/Steve Gunn, but I was 100% going to be elsewhere. It would help if Radius Claus wants to hook a dude up with a day pass.

I’ll 100% be at Gunn & BTP. Sucks I’ll be missing Kelly Lee Owens but ultimately, I’ll survive. I need to be there for the start of the mini drone fest.

Two conflicts that I'm wavering on... what would you choose?
The Thing vs. Susanna (w/ Pessi, Halti, Mize, and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy). Kid Koala's Satellite (I know this is happening other times, but Saturday is the only slot that possibly works) vs. Polyester (the kicker here is that they're going to distribute the Odorama cards to the first 100 attendees!!!)

Can’t say which is more important on the second conflict but the first, I’m doing Susanna and catching Gustafsson the next day with Four Tet.
Obviously, this is the new Four Tet show after I decided to skip his solo set.
