Decent point. You do listen to some music that sounds like machinery. I listen to actual machinery.
For as much as I hated my time working for Philip Morris, they gave me these super nice earplugs that cost a ton of money. I gave them to Mrs. GL to wear at a Marshstepper/Pharmakon/Wolf Eyes show. She promptly lost them by the time we were outta the club. Though I was sad to see them go, I'm slightly impressed they were gone in under 90 minutes.
Buying molded earplugs with changeable dB inserts is seriously one of the best purchases I've ever made. $200 seems steep at first, but when you realize hearing damage is permanent...I haven't looked back.
Really wish I would have done it sooner. In dead silence I can hear a faint high pitched ringing.
I think it was my first Mars Volta show that did a significant portion of my damage. I remember my ears ringing for days after that show. I waited outside the venue for hours to be first in the venue. Front row, right between Cedric and Omar.
Big Ears related, I'm not letting myself believe Darkside is coming back yet. I feel that's just setting myself up for disappointment. I know they'll be back eventually, and I know I'll be there to greet them

I get a faint ringing in my ears as well and sometimes it can get extremely noticeable even in a room with a normal noise level. I chalk it up to being up close for a lot of loud shows and listening to music on my headphones really loud. I have tried to stop it but it's a really old habit. It goes back to when I was a kid and my parents would take me to a concert and I would take the earplugs out halfway through the show.

I kinda lost it when I read MBV was recording an album for 2018. May happen. May not. At least it's on the back burner.
