Is Jawbreaker playing any more shows? They seem on-brand for Shaky Knees.
I was thinking the same thing. Since they headlined at Riot Fest (and they were amazing) they seem to be getting back into the game. Definitely a mid-upper-level band though.
Also, I really hope there's more pizzazz to the top 3 headliners than The National, Fleet Foxes, and QOTSA. I'm praying for Arcade Fire but know I shouldn't get my hopes up.
I think QOTSA - The National - Fleet Foxes is a perfectly reasonable top line for Shaky Knees. I'd prefer Fleet Foxes at 4 and that we get a bigger number one. Arcade Fire seems reasonable but someone in here mentioned David Byrne and now I can't stop thinking about that even though there's no chance in hell it happens.
I'm hoping for Arcade Fire. QOTSA as a #1 is a big step down from The Strokes and Florence.
And if Fleet Foxes aren't headlining then that puts either FF or Tenacious D down to #5 and I couldn't imagine either of those being there.
Pretty sure Tenacious D were #5 at Boston Calling with Beck/Pixies/MMJ as headliners.

There's a chance! Looks like he has a smattering of US tour dates in 2018. Playing small venues ~1500 seats. I would be surprised to see him as a headliner as it would be a departure from SK's headliner formula. Not sure he would play and not headline, but I could see him billed 4th. That'd be cool.
Nice job on the mock; and that hypothetical schedule as a lineup. I’d be giddy Sunday going from Kurt Vile to Phosphorescent to MGMT then a Fleet Foxes finale. Good depth Friday and Saturday from top to bottom too although not a big fan of those 5:15 sets Friday and Saturday. Friday I’d move Of Montreal to 5:15 and put Kaleo at 6:15 to not conflict with Franz Ferdinand as well as to enhance the depth of that slot since I’d hope to miss the Struts and Kaleo personally. How about Two hours of King Gizzard from 4:15-6:15 Saturday since they are the hardest working band in rock and roll with their prodigious output?! That’d save you from having to see Manchester Orchestra or Houndmouth. A Friday of Mt. Joy or 888, Japanese Breakfast, Parquet Courts, Rostam, (although does a set in late January at the Earl rule him out?) Wolf Alice or Minus the Bear, The War on Drugs, (hope so but played last September here) Franz Ferdinand, Death Cab or Passion Pit plus the headliner would make me happy with my purchase. A Saturday with DIIV, the Districts or LEON, Hippo Campus or Tuneyards, KGATLW, The Oh Sees or Local Natives, Panda Bear, Beach House and; gripes aside about QOTSA headlining; that’s a solid day. That’s not even getting to the after shows; some of which I’m sure will be excellent like always. I’ve seen after shows of Portugal the Man 2015, Cloud Nothings/Disappearers and Car Seat Headrest last year but my favorite was the Explosions in the Sky one in 2016 at Variety Playhouse
I agree with whomever hoped 2018 is as good as 2015. Although the above would be fine not sure that would do it for me. Personal taste of course but I think that 2015 was the deepest lineup and having one of the best new bands in Tame Impala headline along with the Strokes was glorious. It’s a good three days if you get to see the aforementioned plus Neutral Milk Hotel (although terrible planning playing Interpol on another stage at the same time) along with Wilco, Pixies, Mastodon, Ride, Ryan Adams (Mother on Mother’s Day was fun for sure) Spiritualized, TV on the Radio, Built to Spill for less than 200 dollars plus all the other stuff. 2014 had good headliners with the National and Modest Mouse too just like last year with LCD and the XX plus Phoenix.
One band I hoped for that just announced an Atlanta set is Ministry so there goes that one.

I like how you only have 3 posts and they’re all the longest posts I’ve seen on this board lol.

After 2016, I really didn't expect them to get Ministry. There are a ton of bands on the Levitation lineup that I'm hoping for (TBJM, Ty, Oh Sees, Parquet, Electric Wizard, Dan Deacon.... and basically the rest of the lineup.)
Why is there no chance in Hell of Byrne?
And why did autocorrect capitalize hell?
All of his announced dates are smaller theaters and mainly I don't want to get my hopes up.
Autocorrect probably capitalized hell because you start a lot of sentences with it which is definitely a commentary on 2017.
I would be ecstatic if Rostam goes. Does anyone know if he's for sure doing the festival circuit? (I'm sure he is with the new album and his built-in VW popularity). He seems perfect for Shaky Knees

Yeah, I'd be fine with QOTSA - The National - Fleet Foxes. Would be absolutely ecstatic if it was Arcade Fire - QOTSA - Fleet Foxes. Really, really hoping FF headlines though. Y'all are making me nervous that they won't. I think they'd fit perfectly as a headliner at SK, and they better have some good headliners to knock them to the second line. But yeah, I feel like Arcade Fire as the top headliner would be more in line with the quality of headliners in previous years. QOTSA at the top spot would seem like a step down. AF - QOTSA/The National - FF would be amazing.
Excuse my ignorance, but isn't Tenacious D a joke band with Jack Black? Would they really get as high as the fifth spot?

He's gonna be in Atlanta in January, not sure if that rules him out.

Last year's lineup came out January 10th. Why they picked a Tuesday I do not know. I am disappointed they didn't do more with our lineup predictions. I never saw them officially "like" any of the guesses. Posting a list of the most commonly guessed artists was pretty meh.
So the most recent Roo clue is Jungle. Could we see them playing Shaky? I've been really wanting to see them, their show seems like a ton of fun, but probably won't be going to Roo this year.

It's been a Tuesday since the festival started for some reason (pretty sure.)

It’s been the day after Roo for the last few years, right?

They would be an fun late night act.
For the late night shows do you have to leave during the headliner set to get a decent spot?

Depends on venue. I showed up 30 min after doors for the Arkells late night this year, and was the 3rd person in. Maybe 70 people total showed. Was an absolute Motown blast!

Nah, you can take your time. I can't think of a venue they use that has an inherently bad spot. I guess the left can be kind of a pain if you get stuck in the back but that's about it. If it's sold out obviously have a plan to get over there quick but I feel like most Shaky Knees late nights have a little smaller attendance than a regular show.
