Is it confirmed to be four stages? Isn't it just hand the area that was used in 2015? The half with the ball field? How they gonna for four stages where there were only two before? I really would prefer no conflicts on the headliners I think.
I don't think they'll do opposing headliners. In 2016 each headliner was very different than what it was opposed to. Top 2 lines are too similar for them to do that again.
Also, damn, I only got 9 bands correct on my mock. Shame on me.

They have a video for the lineup announcement on their FB that confirms 4 stages.
Hoping for a couple poppier additions just for some variety. This year has less pop/pop-rock/electronic than previous years it seems. I can definitely understand why some people who were fans of previous lineups aren't as big on this one.
Actually this is more of a return to what the fest started as.

Are they not using the full area they did in 2015?
With four stages, they're probably doing conflicting headliners. I could see: QotSA v Fleet Foxes Jack White v. David Byrne The National v. Tenacious D

True, I just meant the past few years. Like even the headliners last year I feel reached a much broader audience. And then you've had artists like Sylvan Esso and James Blake which I always feel are a really nice change since they're unique to the rest of what you see. I definitely don't mean that I'm hoping for stuff like X-Ambassadors haha.

Saw Tenacious D about 15 years ago. Had no idea they still toured, so I guess I'm kind of surprised that they're 5th. Is it perhaps bc Jack Black is an A list(or near the A list) movie star? I like them and I'll see them if there's not a conflict for me but I'm conflicted about SK taking a lineup spot and giving it to basically a gimmick band
uhh this guy....
Is anyone actually trying to deny that Tenacious D is a gimmick band, albeit a great one? That's clearly why Jack Black is known for his music and not acting career right? Pfft.
03/14 - Thievery Corporation 04/25 - Black Country, New Road 05/04 - In Flames, Gatecreeper 05/10 - Modern Life is War 05/21 - Spite, Bodysnatcher, Thrown 05/29 - Knocked Loose, Loathe, Show me the Body, Speed 06/02 - Bush 06/22 - George Thorogood 06/23 - Dillinger Escape Plan, Deadguy, Candy, Carbomb

Since I started this whole kerfuffle with perhaps a poor choice of words, I'll agree w this...they are a great band, when I saw them it was before they were big and it was just acoustic, no backing band or anything. But I stand by my comment, they are overinflated caricatures of themselves and are performing a comedy/rock routine which is great and all, I just would rather SK had gotten a band I haven't seen yet instead of lite Spinal Tap. To each their own, id rather see the D cream jeans at a comedy festival or a festival that was known for incorporating comedy acts like the D.

Don’t know a lot about this dude, but I thought this Marlon Williams single last year was kinda interesting
Researched him when he was announced for Newport last year and dug his stuff, although I didn't see his set. His voice is like a mix of Roy Orbison and Jeff Buckley
