Looking great so far Arctic Monkeys as the other headliner would make for Shaky’s best top three ever I think, but that’s probably too much. I bet we get something like Alice In Chains.
Someone on one of Robin's instagram posts asked why they weren't playing Atlanta. He said they'd be announcing soon and I commented that it might be because they're playing this and Robin liked the comment.
yay thank god. at least i'll love one of the headliners. praying to the fest gods that AM doesn't headline (sorry to go against popular opinion, i just really don't like AM and have no strong feelings either way for qotsa). please be someone like vampire weekend or the national.
Would Bjork play this? What about Gorillaz? Are they too big? I could see either of them on top of the bill.
i mean it's possible. gorillaz definitely isn't too big. but they were here recently, and if we're gonna get someone who was here recently i would personally hope to see arcade fire come back. i'm not sure about bjork. hasn't she played similar sized fests? i never really have been able to get into her music so idk, but it's probably possible.
Arcade Fire or Gorillaz/ QotSA/ Fleet Foxes would def grab my attention.
They both played the arena in Duluth this fall (Arcade Fire in September, Gorillaz in October). Not sure if that actually rules them out, that particular arena is like 35-40 mins away from the heart of ATL....just worth pointing out.
The Fleet Foxes possibility has def peaked my interest.

yeah, i saw AF there in september and i figure they're pretty much completely ruled out but i'm still gonna hope for them anyways.

I don't think I can see Bjork playing this, but that would be really, really rad if she did.
Also, civic center update (parking lot where the other two stages were in 2015): sale just went through, but they haven't provided any timetable of development. At this point it might just make sense to ask shaky on FB if it's just central park or central park + civic center lots. Even though I think central park is a much better venue for this festival, if it's just 3 stages again you're still likely to run into the same sound issues as this year.

Father John Misty is likely playing this. Somebody on his subreddit said they talked to him in Nashville and he said that he’d be playing Florida in April. I’d say there’s a good chance he’s playing SK and probably NOLA Jazz Fest as well.

That might make this the first fest with both Misty and Fleet Foxes. Uh oh!

Father John Misty is usually in the southeast around that time of year and never once have they booked him for SK. I'm honestly leaning on him not being there, even though it'd be great to see him again (would be #5) without having to go to the tabernacle (which I hate, but it could have been that the last show I saw there was FJM and it was filled with a crowds of basics who spent the time loudly talking about their pumpkin spice flavored ugg boots rather than listening to the music).
Fleet Foxes alone will get me back to this year. Don't want Robin to go on another hiatus.
From what he's said that doesn't seem very likely. He's mentioned being eager to get to work on the next album and also has a solo record in the works. He appears to be very much back in the game
But yeah if they're headlining this, I'm jealous/might try to finally make it down

Im not very educated on the band dynamics, but why would he even need to go solo? Are the other members contributing significantly to the song writing?

maybe he just wants away from the style/brand/name.

This is what I'd assume, because yeah he handles almost all of the songwriting, arranging, and production for FF, along with one other member. Would think he'd use a solo record to experiment a bit more
