I hope since Bassnectar is playing Hula, this means he's out for Okee. Who do you think will fill his spot?
I wouldn't be surprised if he came back. It's such an easy booking for them with a guaranteed draw.
This. It's a shame because I feel like the base he draws in doesn't really seem all that interested in the rest of the lineup. The crowds for relatively high-billed acts like Solange, Strugill, Young the Giant, etc. left much to be desired. It doesn't incentivize the fest to appeal to people that might not be bout that Nectar life.

To be fair, none of those acts do anything for me either. I saw and easily walked away from YTG back in 11 or 12. I don't listen to Solange, but she is a hip person. And I never got why so many people love Sturgil. He's alright but a walk by set for me. Everyone I know who has gone sees tons of sets, and almost everyone on Inforoo that goes seems to have a blast.

Young the Giant is kind of meh to me. I might go their show later this year only because Cold War Kids are also playing. I love Stugill though. That performance at Okee was something else.

idk why nectar is in every mock. i feel like the reason he was booked was because of how every rumored headliner kept on not working out. Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Chance (how did this not happen?), and with a top line of Kings of Leon and Usher, i think nectar was probably booked later just to insure this isn't a 2 year fest. assuming they can get back on their game and book legitimate headliners for a midsize multi genre music festival like they did in 2016, i dont think we should automatically assume Nectar will be #3 at this every year.

Paul Peck and crew left pretty much because whomever else is involved would not let them book the acts they wanted to and pushed shiz like Bassnectar two years in a row, no?

forgot about that whole thing, i still just dont think that 2 years in a row is enough to call a trend and assume the same of 2018.

I like the idea of this fest. I've liked the lineups enough. I probably can't do it this coming year with other obligations but I would love to be able to. But I have no confidence in who is running this thing right now. I hope they turn it around so I have another option for an early fest.

It'd be a real shame if this didn't last but I have faith. It sold well the first two years. Let's be honest too, there isn't much competition in late Feb/early March. Especially for what this offers (multi genre camping festival in prime weather). People traveled from all over that I met last year (California/Arizona/Colorado/etc). Unless the lineup is complete crap, I'm going to do everything I can to make it back.

I really can't picture Radiohead at this festival. I think Chance didn't work out because he was in between tours during Okeechobee. His new show probably wasn't ready yet. But it'd be cool if Okeechobee could get him next year. Arcade Fire would have been pretty cool and Tame Impala (the other rumored headliner) would have totally made sense. It would be pretty sad if Bassnectar got booked a third year in a row. Like this isn't the "Bassnectar festival" let someone else in that spot.

Electric Forest wasn't a "Bassnectar festival" either but we all know how that has turned out

Anyone bringing the Bill Hicks is pretty much exempt from criticism for at least 24 hours. .
Official dates are March 1-4. No longer selling 3 day passes, only 4. And now they're following Bonnaroo's footsteps and having a car camping pass. I'm hoping with the extra official day added and the extra money they're going to get from car camping passes, we will see a stronger lineup and more diversity. We will see tho.

I wonder if that means you can get two passes for one spot? Interested to see what the costs will be for the car camping pass.

okeechobeefest.zendesk.com/hc/en-us Apparently 40 during presale and 50 after. Not too bad, but kind of disappointed they're going this route...

That's not bad though. I'm used to Firefly where they rip you a new asshole ($250+ per pass). Hell for $50 each, I'd buy 3 of those bitches and spread my ass out.

Wait...250 for a car pass?
Yup. "Car camping" assuming we are talking about the same thing.
Looks like this could be done soon. Outrageous ticket prices + weak sound at nearly every set last year are turning a lot of people away. Sucks cause this could be a really cool festival if done right but there's no way I'm returning if the prices are this much for early birds unless there are some serious justifications.

Nah, they are already selling presale tickets. Also very surprising how many people at Bisco this weekend were either wearing Okeechobee shirts or talking about it. It would benefit them to lean into the wook crowd.

That's kind of my worry, I think this fest "plays it safe" for Bisco type lineups even though that wasn't really what this was supposed to be.

If Okee models playing to their base like Coachella and continues booking stuff like Bassnectar, EDM, etc. but off-setting it with unique bookings, they could keep going.
I've worked Okee both years and they sent out an email the other day that leads me to believe they're really struggling to sell pre-sale tickets. That and their immediate press release explaining the price hike tells me they probably wont sell out this year and even with higher prices we may still not get superior bookings or necessarily anything better than last year.
All that said, I will still be there. Both years were transformative for me for different reasons and I know I'll like 2018 just for the magic of the festival setting itself.

Well that's sad. I'm sure once the lineup comes out we will see more hype...But those hike in fees and price does sting a bit...But it'll be worth it if the lineup reflects those price hikes.
