Yea I don't hold much hope for the top line. The best thing I'd realistically hope for is the nuggets down in the lineup, and the overall diversity of genres mixed throughout.
I think that's the best to hope for in regard to this fest. I'm curious to see if Paul's departure drastically affects the lineup quality, particularly those nuggets like great DJs in Jungle 51.
is realistic. I love both Gorillaz and Deadmua5 but I'll have seen them both so many times by the time March rolls around I'm not sure that'd do it for me.
After booking KoL as the top act, I feel like they won't book someone as cool as Gorillaz though. More likely a lesser acts that gets around, like the Killers.

The Killers - Deadmau5 - J Cole
Kings of Leon was nowhere near their first pick from what I've heard. Seems like the cards just fell the wrong way and that's what they ended up with. They were definitely after Chance, AF, RHCP from what I heard. So at least their goals are bigger than what they ended up with...

That's a good point, but it's tough to know who exactly wanted RHCP or AF. That could have been the previous regime. The new bros could have been more than happy to throw KoL out and save a few bucks.
I would be all for Tame/Chance/Bassnectar. It could definitely be a lot worse and wouldn't be too crazy expensive so they could still afford a killer undercard.
Chance would be a pretty cynical booking - by the time OMF rolls around Coloring Book will be almost 2 years old. Pretty much anyone who has wanted to see Chance had ample opportunity to see Chance over those 2 years. Let's get some fresh shit pls.
Not sure if there will be any crossover that weekend between Okeechobee and Botanica festival in San Antonio that weekend because it's a 20+ hour run from S.A. to S FL. But their initial announcement has Major Lazer, Logic, Deftones, Alessia Cara, Blackbear, DJ Diesel, Bishop Briggs, Brett Young, Biters, Carlton Zeus (regional), The New Respects and Stoop Kids. Any of the top 3 could be on the Okeechobee lineup for sure. Deftones is the only one of the 3 I love though, and they have a pretty good cross-generational appeal.

I'd say there's a good chance at some crossover. III Points in Miami and Austin City Limits had some artists play both. It's possible if an artist plays one fest on Friday and then the other fest on Sunday, or vice versa for the other fest. I could see both Major Lazer and Logic headlining this and Alessia Cara potentially playing.

Yeah, it's certainly possible. Botanica (which I think they said is in 6 Flags' parking lot) is only on the 3rd and 4th which is Saturday and Sunday. They release the next round for Botanica in early November, so if there isn't more Okee stuff out by then, maybe it's another clue for who will be at least touring at that point. That might also count for Buku the following weekend, though surprisingly there was very little crossover for Okeechobee and Buku last year despite being held on successive weekends (Sleigh Bells and The Floozies).
Terms say contest runs til Nov. 5 so lineup should be any day after that.
5. WINNER SELECTION/NOTIFICATION: The potential winner will be chosen based on how many artists on the Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival 2018 Lineup they selected correctly on or about November 6th from all eligible entries received by a member of the Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival staff.
If previous years are an indication, they announce stuff on Tuesdays. So I'd expect a lineup either the 7th or the 14th. Still holding out hope that this thing is successful going forward.
