I think they found their niche with this lineup. Saw more than a few people at Camp Bisco last year with Okeechobee shirts and talking up the fest. They have kind of found their market with the "wookiedm" crowd.
I do think the pricing is pretty nuts for what it is though.

This is the problem. I could convince myself to go to this at last years price. But at nearly double the price? Nahhhh. If I lived in Florida maybe.
I agree that the price is kind of out of whack. I also think that if they had payment plans, the price point might not seem as bad. But, how do you do a payment plan when the lineup drops less than 3 months from the actual event. That is kind of late in the game.
I like this lineup too and I think it’s far better than last years lineup. Arcade Fire, foster the people, the flaming lips, slightly stoopid, Tipper, big gigantic, sts9, local natives, Gramatik, thievery Corporation, tycho, Sylvan Esso, lettuce, big wild, Denzel curry, nightmares on wax live, twiddle, Chicano Batman, hippo campus, turkauz, The districts, the main squeeze, and susto. I could defiantly have fun at this festival. Plus there’s plenty of other stuff like Leon Bridges, and Zeds Dead who i would still enjoy if nothing else was going on. The only part I don’t like is the headliners. Love Arcade Fire, enjoy Bassnectar, but bringing him back for a third time and giving him two sets is a bit much for me, should’ve put another big Electronic name like Martin Garrix or Kygo up there. Defietnly should’ve taken off Halsey and Travis Scott and replaced it with one bigger rap artist or one bigger female singer like Florence & The Machine. Good lineup and better than Hangouts for sure. Worth $400 though? Hell no, $300 sure I’d probably go! $250 I’d buy my ticket now. Impressed they got Tipper and Theivery Corporation though.
No need to convince everyone else. They think every lineup without Sigur Ros, Bon Iver, and Radiohead is bad
Any lineup with Sigur Ros becomes automatically better.
Another rumor around is that Bassnectar may be "in residence" there for a 4-5 year term. Obviously there's no way to confirm, and maybe he likes performing down there or perhaps they've decided to just sign him up guaranteeing 10,000 automatically sold tickets.

I guess that makes it a little easier when they do the whole “Guess the 201_ Okee Lineup”

I think there's some good stuff on there. Arcade Fire, STS9, Thievery Corp, Lips, Turkuaz, Chicano Batman. I'd love to see all of that on the Roo lineup, even Turkuaz only a year later. But there's nowhere near enough overall to make me consider going.

Agreed. There's tons more great shit too that I love seeing any time x comes through town. I just laugh off the haters because really, besides the groupthink aspect of hating on this lineup like they know what they're talking about, like how many of these acts have those people ever even seen? I put that mentality on the same level as the d-bag quoted here yesterday from somewhere else who suggested they aren't lit up enough because of "trumpets." Yeah asshole. Do you really need an "I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about!" stamp across your forehead? Because many of us who know better can already read it. Groupthink and Grouphate is pretty prevalent here on Inforoo as well. There are some awfully opinionated motherfuckers. I guess that's okay because when seriously into music and discussing, we're going to have opinions even where some who think they are the shit also have some of the absolutely dumbest comments of all time on this very forum. Unfortunately, as previously stated, this is too far away for the money and effort. But it's a solid 2.5 star lineup with some 4 and 5 star acts sprinkled in.

Dude, have you considered the possibility that people have seen literally every act on that list and think they’re either (a) not actually anything special or (b) as you say yourself, those acts alone are not at all worth the expense and effort of seeing at a camping festival?
You can be salty with people for not liking this lineup, but you’re it going either so what’s the fucking difference?

I just responded. People can think whatever they want, and I have the right to disagree. Right? I put in the number of acts I have seen and the number I would gladly see again. There are 9 of the 30 I've seen that IDGAF about. Not sure what your beef is. I know a lot of people don't like bass or jamtronica. I was avoiding specific examples and calling out anyone specifically. So that was my angle though I'm not sure why I really had to tell you that or why you're mad about it.

Then why are you saying shit like “how many of those acts have people really seen” like you’re the only one with any insight in the the quality of various noodle bands? It’s a music festival message board, people here have been to lots of music festivals.
^^^ As an appendage to my last post, I've seen 30 of the acts and would gladly see 21 of them again.
+ you would never insult an act you haven't seen before!
If I didn't like them because I knew who they were or had researched or listened to that act. But I'm not going to say a whole lineup is garbage if I don't know. Nothing personal, and I'm sure you could look back on shit I said that I ended up being wrong about. But I'm sure it was you who specifically called Preservation Hall "lame" when it was announced they were hosting the 2017 Bonnaroo superjam. In that vein, I was 99% sure you didn't even know who they were and just spouted off. I could be wrong, but clearly the reports back were that not only were they not lame, some people even posted on this very forum that they should probably be given the keys to the superjam every year. So sometimes people may be ignorant to shit and just follow along talking out of their ass when they really don't know or just decided to parrot something they heard someone else say (not referring to you in regard to parroting).
FWIW, my opinion is that this lineup a 2.5 star lineup with some higher end shit for me. I'm not looking to fight with people that it's going down in history as elite or some shit. Far from it. Just the same, I think you're dead wrong in saying "this lineup is the definition of garbage" which is the opposite extreme of ZOMG OKEEEEEE!!11!!!1!!! And hey, I said I have seen 30 of the acts and that 9 of them I don't really care if I ever see again (not that I necessarily hate them, I might just be indifferent). I'll list: Travis Scott, Illenium, Local Natives, Superduperkyle, Ganja White Knight, Twiddle, Main Squeeze, Foster the People Leon Bridges, Jai Wolf.
I guess I could have added "listened to" but what your comment to my quote was not what I said. I was adding the evidence to my opinion.

Apparently I should have been broader and said "how many of those acts do they even know?"
Like, if you want to have a sore butt because people here are haterz, then whatever. But don’t act like we’re not informed haterz.
Seriously? I don't care what you hate. But if I think some shit is ignorant, I have a right to dispute that, don't I? Lots of people on here are indeed uniformed haters. I gave Tristan a specific example though that's not where I was looking to go. I don't want to fight other than having my say to call out shit I think is ignorant just like I'd expect people to do to me. It's the internet and I damn sure don't know everything.

But your not critiquing people’s opinions, your critiquing their motivations. Like it’s one thing to debate “this band sux” “no fuck you that band is awesome” and it’s another thing entirely say “well if you don’t like that band you must not actually know anything about them.”
and then probably Brand New in that 5 spot as well. That would make more sense.
Okay serious question, have you ever listened to Brand New? Because I feel like everyone saying that Brand New was supposed to be on this lineup isn't familiar with them at all. There is zero crossover with the demographic this festival is going for and people who listen to Brand New.
Allah-Las, Hippo Campus, The Districts are three bands on the lineup that are in the vein of Brand New (maybe more than I do not know). Arcade Fire, Flaming Lips, Slightly Stoopid, Tycho, and Local Natives could all appeal to a similar crowd.
Looking at that Bunbury lineup though - even being a smaller festival, there were more bands that would appeal to the Brand New crowd.

Regardless, I think a lot of people do both things I noted in the original post: bandwagon/groupthink or act like they are an authority on shit in casting judgment when they have little to no idea what they're talking about. And yes, I included inforoo when I asked if some people actually have any idea about shit they're casting judgment on. Often it doesn't seem that way.
I'll try to present it to you another way, but I thought it was obvious what I was saying in the context of how I presented it. If someone is going to say, "Lineup X is dogshit", how about doing other people a favor by putting in some context or justification? That was what I was demonstrating in noting the bands I had seen (whether or not I would see again). I'm not just talking out of my ass or jumping on a groupthink bandwagon. I said my piece and brought my evidence. I don't love the lineup, I don't hate it. But if I really didn't know much on this lineup, I wouldn't be one saying how great or suck it was. I also put it rhetorically because I asked the question of 1 fragment haters, "...how many acts have they even seen?" So I later added "or heard or researched" for clarity. I think the point is valid and hopefully rhetorically challenged people to provide some thought behind what they were spouting off. A couple of people expounded on why they liked the lineup (dblood & testiclat) which got met with snipes which led to my post.
I don't expect everyone to explain everything in detail but, "Man, I really hate Bassnectar because of his fans" or "I hate Bassnectar because he supports gay rights" or "I hate Bassnectar because I got nauseated being bombarded with bass in my chest" or "I'm tired of seeing that asshole on lineups" or "He shot my dog" conveys a little more. I guess some people are going to drive-by snipe on shit. That's kind of the modern communication world with Twitter, Facebook comments and shit. You'd just think that people who were otherwise serious about music that have to get their opinions in might give enough of a shit to explain or give some context. It would raise the bar significantly on conversations as well as the the quality of debate/discussion and disagreement. Maybe it's me asking or expecting too much, but you can't ever get to "No fuck you this band is awesome" if no band is even mentioned. I don't know. I wasn't looking to fight or argue with people. I just wanted some context. I expect blanket categorization "all EDM suck" or "all Jamtronica is noodly" or whatever. But it would be nice if those who were otherwise capable would add color.
So what does everyone think about this year's line-up?
Decent. Has a lot I would like to see, in a location that's supposed to be top notch. I won't be attending because of logistics; but sounds like a good time.
So what does everyone think about this year's line-up?
Hey cmack. I think it's a mix of things, but you already knew that. What do you think about it? You were talking about seriously going, and it's kind of a lot of the shit you listen to. I'm assuming you're looking to make that 19 hour drive to SE FL, right? Two of my kids are going (E went both previous years & K is going to go in '18) and C said he was content enough with this and the last couple of year's lineups to go to Okeechobee in 2019 but wasn't interested this year because he plans on going to Backwoods at Mulberry. Ooo Wooktronica!
Also, what's the word on Euphoria for 2018? Are you going and is it happening?
