This seems to just be a matter of taste, but for me Paak's music and songs are more interesting than any jamband on Okee's lineup. Are most jamband musicians talented? Of course. Do most of them make good music? No
Definitely a matter of taste, but I don't see this as a Jam fest. I've seen STS9 probably 18 times, and the Axe the Cables show this year is tied with Sigur Ros for #1 and ahead of U2, Radiohead, Foo Fighters, Kendrick, Foo Fighters, Jaz-Z, etc. else that I've seen this year. Of course that's a jazzier and more musical version of what they typically do.
I didn't see that much else jam on the lineup except Thievery sometimes gets thrown in there but I don't see them as jam. Lettuce is on there, and while they do play some pretty long songs, it's mostly just funk to me. Ditto for Cory Henry (former leader of Snarky Puppy) and Funk Apostles. Twiddle is definitely a jam band, and I'm not a huge fan though I don't hate or love them at this point and would be more of a pass-by set if there was no conflict. Maybe there's some jam on the undercard?
So maybe 4 or 5 jam or funk type acts on the lineup?
I think outside of New Orleans, funk has become "jam". The Cory Henry, Lettuce, Turkuaz on this lineup and other such as The Motet, The New Mastersounds, Pigeons, etc. regularly play the jam fests and jam clubs. I'm cool with that as that is where most of my interest lies.

Maybe its just me but I wouldn't really want to see Sigur Ros at a festival where people have been getting drunk and listening to EDM all day....
Boston Calling was pretty rad because they had Francis and the Lights > Solange > Bon Iver > Sigur Ros. Which means the crowd was in the right mindset for them.
At Hangout weren't your choices before Sigur Ros like either Major Lazer or Snakehips or something?

Yeah I'm lumping that stuff in as part of the jam scene. I tend to enjoy a lot of those bands live, but in terms of making a lineup "stronger" they really do nothing for me. At least not in the way artists like Kendrick or Anderson Paak or St. Vincent do.
Basically I think I'd probably have a better time overall at Okee, but I think it's lineup is weaker than Hangout's.

Except Solange cancelled and we got Migos instead...
But it also started pouring rain, so that's a good mood-setter for Sigur Ros

major lazer or the head and the heart was before sigur ros.
with a run of Mutemath > Local Natives or RKS > Rufus du Sol > Band of Horses leading up to that but yea i see what you mean.
i was at the sigur ros set and there was about 200 people there under a tent it would have been epic had the storm not rolled in.

yeah I know. That's why I bought a ticket only to sell it to you for face when they announced here that Sunday night.

Yea, Sigur Ros were proceeded by Cheat Codes, Snakehips, Louis The Child and I think someone else off the top of my head (NGHTMRE maybe?) but yea was def an interesting turn. They did the same thing in 2016 with DJ's in the tent and Foals headlining that night

To be fair that day my schedule was Mutemath>Local Natives>Rufus Du Sol>LP>Band of Horses>Head and the Heart>Sigur Ros with no breaks. Not quite Boston Callings run but I feel the majority of the EDM crowd went to twenty one pilots
Overall, after a week out, I am really liking this lineup. Since it's only 2 hours from me, it's totally worth going too. For someone 12 hours away, it's up to your taste in music...But I missed Arcade Fire, Flaming Lips, STS9 when they last came to Florida, plus there's a ton more I want to see (only 1 electronic artist, Flamingosis) Like last year, initially looking at this lineup it sucked, but I think as the rest of the lineup is announced and the rest of the fests release their linueps, this lineup will not look all bad at all.

Yea it's about a 12 hour drive for me. I could absolutely make enough of the lineup to work, but the logistics of price and vacation time makes it extremely unlikely I'll go this time around.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol

Dead and Co Florida makeup shows Feb 25-27 two days before Okeechobee. I know it won’t happen but maybe Bob Weir for the Powwow? I don’t see how they can charge more then Bonnaroo right now with one real headliner and not announce a atleast a few more upper midcard acts.

Mayer would be a good headliner for this. Also won't happen though.
So are they announcing one artist or an entire wave?
the fact that they haven't said it's a wave makes me think it's just going to be an artist
they just said 1pm on twitter so we'll see in a couple hours
They said Artist Additions. With an S. one can only assume its multiple artists. No idea why they waited 2 weeks for it. Last year additions were in January if I'm not mistaken

Oh nice, I hadn't seen their instagram story so I was just going off the "something coming tomorrow" tweet.
Would them waiting til today be based off another announcement having some sort of priority? Not familiar with how that works with festivals. What would give one the priority to announce before the other can?
