I'll echo a previous post how I wouldn't do a full weekend. One day was enough for sure I think. In less than an hour we had all the grounds covered, checked out merch, Newbury, and any of the interesting looking booths. That Ikea thing was pretty damn cool though.
The sets we saw were good, but damn what a dead crowd. Loud talkers and stumbling drunks later in the day/evening.
Few side notes: bumped into A LOT of people from back home which is super rare. 9 people exactly, and each one of them was there specifically for Eminem. Most are skipping tomorrow and going to the Red Sox game instead.
The no smoking thing is fine I suppose - but my God I think I was asked for a lighter like a dozen times. Seems like everyone had an easier time getting their darts in, but no light!
I never waited in line once for anything yesterday so that was great. Will call, entrance, food, drinks, bathrooms. A serious amount of vendors there.
The Red Stage needs to be louder and better sound. That was where I had the most problems with talkers yesterday (The National, Maggie Rogers) and the low volume they're pushing out doesn't help
I wondered what the deal was with volume levels at the Red Stage. When I first arrived for the day and made a beeline for the Green Stage to position myself for Big Thief, I settled in on the side rail bordering the VIP section and could barely hear This Is the Kit's last song or two. On the other hand, when I was waiting on the far rail bordering the Red Stage VIP section while waiting for The National, right near the ferris wheel, I could hear PTM's last couple of songs very clearly.
FWIW, I thought that the volume for The National was fine when I positioned myself in a more-or-less direct line to one of the PA stacks, even though I was fairly far back.

Not at Boston Calling though; this is just what I'm wearing.
You got my hopes up for you being here lol
Aw sorry lol. I was hoping to be able to do and meet you this year, but alas, I'm putting a deposit down on an apartment this weekend. Come to Hulaween! I'm not 100% yet but it's looking likely.

Hot takes on Saturday:
-Jack White was cheerier than expected and no cell phones were smashed -Annie of St. Vincent reminds of a more talented version of Madonna, with a visual show that will cause me nightmares. Girl also has herself a helluva lot of guitar colors. -Mount Kimble was the surprise of the day. Wish they had a later set. -I should not forget my license in the car, so I won’t be entirely sober all day or be forced to go dumpster diving

This fest is just hitting my sweet spot so directly, I'm loving life, though I thought the crowds SUCKED today (save for QOTSA, which was a motherfuckin party where I was standing). I can't remember a single day at a festival where I enjoyed all the sets I attended this much. no duds.
1) Oh Sees/ QOTSA 3)Jack White 4)St Vincent 5)Royal Blood (Hope Mike is okay, he had to get helped off stage) 6)Lillie Mae 7)Daniel Caesar 8)The Mezingers

So Brockhampton performed without Ameer and it was apparently really awkward. Would like another perspective considering I'm seeing them tomorrow
Yeah it was really awkward. They didn’t edit his parts out of the instrumentals so everyone else kind of stood there. At one point Kevin and someone else started crying. Set overall was really good.
Never seen a crowd go as hard as they did for Oh Sees
St. Vincent and Jack White were both fucking stellar. Watched QOTSA from my spot at the Green Stage and thought they nailed it. I imagine it would've been fun to be int hat crowd.
Enjoyed Lillie Mae and Daniel Caesar a fair amount, didn't really catch anything else in full.

I didn't know much about them and I thought it was very entertaining. My understanding, correct or incorrect, was that they're a Wu Tang-like collective and you're not going to get the entire unit at any show. Most of the info I found online mentions 10-15 members and there were no more than six performing yesterday (although there might have been a DJ I couldn't see from the bleachers, so there might have been seven.)
They've got great energy onstage and it was fun sitting in the bleachers and watching how engaged the crowd on the field was.
The thing where one of the guys stood towards the back of the stage crying, and others came over to console him was strange, though.
You mean that I didn't want them to kick him out? Or that I find it sad for them how they had to do the show without him?
I just didn’t understand what you meant. Did you mean you hope the allegations aren’t true so he’d stay in the group?
I hoped the whole situation and the fans would've calmed down over time and they could move on as a whole. Though I understand why they dropped him aswell.

Ameer wasn't performing because of the allegations against him. And that's why they were crying, because they probably already knew he wasn't going to be in the band anymore.
Fleet Foxes Pond Decemberists Thundercat Zola Jesus Alvvays Julien Baker (finally got around to seeing her, she was great just not the right setting for her)
