How many fucking times can they book The Killers, Foster The People, Portugal. The Man and Cold War Kids? I mean, I really like all 4 of these bands, but come onnnn maaannn. It's so fucking tired.
I agree with all of those except Portugal. The Man. They played once in 2014, and they've released a new album since then. I can't see why that would be a booking to complain about.

Portugal. The Man are a great booking this year. With the success of Feel It Still; the new album is doing gangbusters. They have hit the height of their career. This is like their victory lap. Happy for them.
Cold War Kids/Foster are just doing the same old shit.

This.
Plus, you validate your booking strategy when a repeat act has ascended the ranks of your festival lineup. Not a band like Foster that closed out Firefly few years ago and is now just filler.

This will be my 6th time seeing PTM since 2011. I've met them a bunch of times and they're all so cool and humble. I couldn't be happier that they are finally getting the attention they've deserved since at least Censored Colors.
So just started listening to Middle Kids and already added two songs to my personal spotify playlist. Pretty good band, looking forward to them. And to top it off Yung Gravy is the shit.

I think this is an underrated point. They didn’t book many bands that people can immediately criticize as “bad.” Maybe Odesza doesn’t get you tight in the pants, but there’s not a lot of easy targets to bitch about.
Halsey's not going out without a fight though! Ugh.
Looks like someone is butthurt that they didn't get another sweet booking fee/status upgrade.

Surprised Firefly didn't book Incubus. I thought if nothing else that would be one act that most didn't get that they would snatch, given they are finally appearing on festival lineups.

My guess is they were between Incubus and Jimmy Eat World and opted for (what I suspect was) the cheaper booking.

Think there is a lot on the Governor's Ball, Bonnaroo, and Electric Forest undercards that seemed open for Firefly and are not appearing. That is really the biggest disappointment in the lineup. The names that seem to be popping up on a few look to be 3-4 lines higher on Firefly than other festivals.

The biggest head scratching omissions for me are Greta Van Fleet, Tash Sultana, The Revivalists, and Dashboard Confessional. All 4 would have had huge crowds and none of them are probably that expensive.

Yeah those all seem like prime Firefly artists. Especially Greta and Tash.

I know Logic has risen in popularity since 2015, but if you already have Eminem and Kendrick headlining plus Lil Wayne on the second line is he really necessary? Could have put Incubus right there.
I like Make Yourself and Morning View as much as the next guy, but when I saw Incubus on the co-headlining tour they did with Deftones a couple years back I left after 5 or 6 songs.. Easily one of the most boring live bands I've ever seen.
03/14 - Thievery Corporation 04/25 - Black Country, New Road 05/04 - In Flames, Gatecreeper 05/10 - Modern Life is War 05/21 - Spite, Bodysnatcher, Thrown 05/29 - Knocked Loose, Loathe, Show me the Body, Speed 06/02 - Bush 06/22 - George Thorogood 06/23 - Dillinger Escape Plan, Deadguy, Candy, Carbomb

They have always been one of my favorite bands since middle school so I'm sort of biased, but I've enjoyed every live show I've seen from them. It's been a couple years since I've seen them though.
Im a casual Incubus fan and saw them for the first time over the summer with Jimmy Eat World. They were what i expected and it was good, i did think Jimmy was better though.

Yea good point. I thought they were there another time as well.

Agreed. Logic feels forced, there's enough hip-hop in the top 10 as is. That spot would have been so much better used on Pixies, Incubus, Paramore, or Snow Patrol.
The xx would have slide nicellly into that 7 spot as well.

Well it's tough to follow Deftones.
I considered that, but it was a really lackluster performance regardless.. They also started the set off with post-Morning View material, which has no redeeming qualities imo. Speaking of Deftones, what's the likelihood they'll ever play this fest? I think they would appeal to the target demo but it still seems like a long shot.

I've seen Incubus a good bit and they're always good. Even following Deftones, so I have to disagree.

Here was the setlist the last time I saw them, it was actually farther back then I thought (May 2015). They were still awesome regardless. They barely played any new stuff. They played Vitamin which kicked ass as well.

Ugh I'd love to hear the Incubus hits at Firefly. Pure Summer for me. Can't rule out the possibility of a late add, but I guess if they were to add anyone to the Top 20 it'd be a female band/act.
Halsey's not going out without a fight though! Ugh.

Ehh, I mean, this is something I noticed about the lineup too. A lot of acts that would go over really well with Firefly crowds, like Lorde and Haim, are currently touring. Lorde has never played and Haim last did (I think) in 2013. Gotta get The Killers for a third time in seven years though, I guess.
I don't really understand what's going on with HAIM. After seeing them on Coachella, I thought they'd be all over the place (Gov Ball, Shaky Knees - also missing female acts, Firefly, etc.) but surprised they've been nowhere else
Was really hopeful a S.C.I.E.N.C.E. full album tour last year (would've been 20th anniversary). Maybe in 2022 for 25th anni
Oh man I'd kill to hear them play S.C.I.E.N.C.E. the whole way through, especially those first five or so tracks. Those dudes seem pretty focused on continuing to make music though. After all they are still mostly in their early 40's. I personally liked everything though Light Grenades. The past two albums were just not good.

I'm betting that many festivals passed on them since they did a large festival tour in 2016 in high spots without any new material.

Halsey is the only woman on the Top 2 lines of Bottlerocket, and outside of SZA she's the only other woman of the Top 16 names at Hangout. Of course she attacks the one who doesn't pay her overpriced booking fee. Diversity is important at festivals, but she's full of shit.
But yes, this lineup would look a little better with a couple different female bookings:
Eminem • Kendrick Lamar • Arctic Monkeys • The Killers
Odesza • Lil Wayne • The XX • Martin Garrix • SZA • Alt J
