Ehh, I mean, this is something I noticed about the lineup too. A lot of acts that would go over really well with Firefly crowds, like Lorde and Haim, are currently touring. Lorde has never played and Haim last did (I think) in 2013. Gotta get The Killers for a third time in seven years though, I guess.
Halsey is the only woman on the Top 2 lines of Bottlerocket, and outside of SZA she's the only other woman of the Top 16 names at Hangout. Of course she attacks the one who doesn't pay her overpriced booking fee. Diversity is important at festivals, but she's full of shit.
But yes, this lineup would look a little better with a couple different female bookings:
Eminem • Kendrick Lamar • Arctic Monkeys • The Killers
Odesza • Lil Wayne • The XX • Martin Garrix • SZA • Alt J
Haim • Portugal. The Man • MGMT • St Vincent
The XX would have been an outstanding booking instead of Logic, for sure (albeit they are not exactly equally priced I'm sure). I think he is absolutely the "mistake" booking this year of the top 10 acts. Foster the People wasn't really necessary either, could have at least replaced them with Paramore if nothing else. Honestly if you make those changes above I'd probably go.

the xx and/or bon iver would've gotten me back this year

Mike D DJ Set as 14th on the bill really has the mantle for stupidest booking.
Like, where is that even going to be, in The Pavillion? Does any one even care about one of the members of the Beastie Boys, let alone him doing a random DJ set. Could have done so much better with those funds.

Yea that falls under the category of "trying to be too cute".

Here are some changes that I made that I thought would have made the top 3 a little stronger:
Eminem • Kendrick Lamar • Arctic Monkeys • The Killers
ODESZA • Bon Iver • Lil Wayne • Martin Garrix • SZA • Alt-J
Paramore • Portugal. the Man • MGMT • St. Vincent
Some artists that were on other lineups, but I wish were on Firefly's:
Anderson .Paak Broken Social Scene Daniel Caesar Greta Van Fleet (in Europe at the time) Hippo Campus LANY Moses Sumney Nothing but Thieves Post Malone The Revivalists St Paul & the Broken Bones The Struts Tash Sultana Thundercat
1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/4: knock2 3/7: Inhaler* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
I wouldn't even bother with one until the by-day lineup comes out
I usually just rough it and then adjust when the day by day comes out. To answer your question iaredani it's as much just personal preference of music (I.E. not a big rap fan) for me as it is my opinion of how good/bad the lineup is.

That Thursday is real rough. This is wishful thinking, but I'm almost wondering if they add the Thursday acts at a later date. Just seems odd how many fewer acts are on the lineup this year, compared to past years.

A few friends of mine decided to rent an RV. So I was thinking of buying a 4 day pass and just showing up Friday after work. But that clashfinder convinced me to wait for the schedule. Maybe I'll just buy a Saturday ticket and call it a day.

SZA as headliner/stage closer on Thursday would make it really worthwhile.

As a 20 year old Midwesterner there are few modern rock bands so big with my age as AM. Foo Fighters are the only ones most people think top them. They are headliners. They even headlined lolla in 14
Thurs/Sunday definitely took a bit of a hit because I really wanted those Portugal The Man and MGMT late night sets.
The Killers carried a pretty weak (and muddy) Sunday in 2015 so they could do it again. Maybe move SZA to Sunday? It was hard to find her a prime spot without getting lost in Fireflys dumb strategy of really stacking pre-headlinrs.
And Thursday...is never really that good. People are just happy to be arriving at the Fest and Chomeo would put on a good high energy closing set.

Awesome now I can just use your formatting and switch some stuff around. Haha I’ll do mine soon.
