If all I end up with out of Everfest is the 2017 $699 Firefly VIP for $300 it will be worth the $50 Everfest fee I paid. Yea this years lineup isn't really for me either for basically the reasons you said. I'm hoping MGMT is Thursday or Friday, so I can come down for the Wed preparty and stay through Saturday morning. I'll just pick up a cheap pass when I get there. Who's Friday's headliner looking like?
Based on their tour dates, Arctic Monkeys are Friday's headliner.
Anybody thinking about going to the Sea.Hear.Now festival in Asbury Park in September?
I'm definitely intrigued, but not taking it seriously until I see the lineup. It could be an awesome Jersey-Shore-Shaky-Knees type fest, or a ska/EDM junk fest. Also will have the directly compete with The Meadows.
Arctic Monkeys adjusted their tour dates on their website to playing Thursday. It appears now that Alt J has to play Thursday based on tour dates. Is it possible that these two big names are actually playing Thursday. In the past it appears to have been like Roo with the two biggest stages not even open Thursday. The past two years the Thursday headliners were listed #15 and #16 on the lineup. Thoughts?

This is likely just a fix because the first day of the festival is Thursday.
It seemed strange. Unless they were going to change course and do a full time four day like Lolla. We don't get in until Friday morning and I do not want to miss AM. Opinion on who headlines Thursday?

Chromeo seems to be a popular suggestion so far based on tour dates I believe

I think Alt-J and Chromeo play Thursday. They still sell Thursday day passes for $70 and want people in the gates, so they won't want to completely punt the day.
Im pretty shocked that they put out 3 days that Id be interested in going to after that first poster. Friday is easily the weakest day but Arctic Monkeys doing their first US show of this tour in front of a crowd thats gonna be full of AM fans will be amazing

This doesn’t look as bad as I thought it would spread out, but nevertheless MGMT floating all the way to Sunday is the nail in the coffin for me. Theres nothing for me on Thursday, and that was the one day I’d hope to go along with maybe Friday. I’ll hope to be back in 2019.

Put together a mock schedule based on last year. Mock Schedule
So much mumble rap on Friday, I couldn't figure out where to put it all.
There were 14 artists on Thursday last year (plus Coffeehouse acts), and they've only announced 12, so not sure what's going on there or if they will add more.
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday also have more daily artists than slots last year, so guessing some end up at Coffeehouse exclusives and/or camp exclusives.

i think Eminem is going to be playing after The Killers and will have the same 1:30 that he does at Coachella

Definitely, I guess I would just be more excited for a Killers night show than Eminem.
