I wonder how many total thursday tickets they have sold in the history of the festival. Id bet its below 1,000
I honestly don't know. We've had Thur shows since 2014, but I can't recall which of those years we sold Thur singles. Maybe all of them. Thurs is literally one of my favorite things about the festival. I love going into the grounds for the first time, meeting up with people and having a very slow pace.
I never said we never had them on the past just that they made no sense
Yeah I guess last years didn't make much sense. Who was paying $70+ after fees to see Glass Animals, Kaleo and OAR. Very niche Delaware market there.
But just means more space. Any update on the everfest VIP upgrade or are we still at 50/50?
I'm betting Everfest doesn't happen. If it does, it'll be in very limited quantity. Last I heard there were some meetings to discuss it, but I think with how ticket sales are going this year, I'm betting it won't be needed. Just my guess based on what I heard, but I don't usually get involved in that end.
Was just listening to it and considered getting tickets to the show in Philly (Electric Factory) next week, but they're $58 after ticketmaster fees. yiiiikes, just gonna wait to catch the set at Firefly

about 10 bucks cheaper on stubhub and will probably keep dropping fwiw

Electric Factory is a Live Nation venue isn't it? Might be a part of that $20 sale.
That's a real bummer. Neither of those are really helpful since passes have been bought already and that's still a $300+ upgrade.
I’m still surprised it happened at all with how strong ticket sales are. I’m sure it will still help some folks at least a little
Helpful for me since I was able to give my girlfriend the early bird code so I'll take it.
End of the day I'd much rather have this years lineup with a bigger crowd and no everfest than have a free VIP upgrade with Imagine Dragons and Chainsmokers headlining.

Im still kinds surprised its selling this well. The headliners are great and there are a couple of gems on the undercard but its not that good

I guess it depends on the audience. It seems like a younger crowd this year and I think Arctic Monkeys is a big draw.

It is kind of ridiculous to be talking about 2019 since 2018 hasn’t even happened yet, but I’m really excited about the possibility of finally getting Pearl Jam. I think next year is the year they get them with the new album coming out.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
To be honest I wouldn't mind a younger crowd because that would mean a lot of the sets I plan on attending probably won't be as crowded if all the kids are at Lil Xan or Trippie Redd or some shit.
I put together a clashfinder over the weekend too and it really made me realize how thin Friday is. Sunday could line up to be an incredible day though. I'm starting to get a sinking feeling though that they're gonna do us dirty with an MGMT/Alt-J conflict right before Kendrick.

I think people just really like well established Alt-Rock at Firefly. It's what it was built on, and I bet a lot of the people who felt a bit betrayed by the fests direction last year are coming back cause they lineup is solid and they miss the atmosphere. That's why I am.

it's a crime PJ hasn't played yet
Yall should let that dream die. PJ has never played an AEG festival.
Hate to say it, but Phoenix's new music just hasn't been all that memorable, and Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix feels like a distant memory.
Personally I thought Ti Amo was a fantastic album. One of the best of last year.
It's funny how much a hit can make or break an alt-rock bands popularity. Ti Amo is better than Woodstock, but because of the success of Feel It Still and the lack of a true hit on Ti Amo, Portugal the Man's stock (deservedly) rises while Phoenix's falls.

Yeah, radio hits still matter this day and age for selling tickets.

You are the exact type of person missing last year that I really missed because it affected the overall vibes.
I still had a great time last year, but whereas it was previously a predominantly alt-rock festival with the crowd to match, last year the crowd had a much more varied taste in music. There were a lot of younger people there (granted I was only 24) who were much more excited for the Weeknd and Chance than any of the alt rock acts.
Also the fact that for a lot of them it was their first festival, you noticed the inexperience more in the way they handled everything. I don't know how to explain it really, hopefully you get what I'm saying.
I got lucky and we ended up camping next to some older people who were Firefly vets like us and reminded me of the awesome atmosphere and attitude that Firefly has always been about.
Hopefully this year the larger crowd and the returning alt rock fans will add a bit more influence to the vibes to even out the mix of Molly kids with stoned and drunk 20/30 year old's.

I didnt notice much of a difference at all in the make up of the crowd other than it being a lot smaller

Idk from my experience in the campground as well as at most of the shows it just seemed like it was way more 18-21 than previous years. Could just be my own experience though.
Certain shows like Andy Frasco and Muse definitely felt like a more varied age group from what I saw.
I enjoyed the smaller crowds last year but that's just for selfish reasons. Sunday night during Phantogram I was able to walk right up to the barrier during their set on the left side of the backyard stage. Also, Bob Moses on the backyard was such a light crowd, it was awesome.
Overall though, I didn't seem to notice too much of a difference with the general crowd between last year and previous years.
