Is anyone else as interested in the palace intrigue of Jerry Jones failed coup against Roger Goodell as I am? He had 5 owners on his side, according to ESPN's Seth Wickersham. All 5 were owners with less power who feel like they aren't listened to. I've been trying to figure out who those owners are. The best I could come up with as possibilities:
No you weren't. But you brought them up. And so I decided to reply talking about the Saints in relation to your post referencing the Panthers. Whether you claim to be a fan or not, I hope I've increased your hatred for the Saints to the point you would be a Panther's fan the next time we play them.
Lol, stop being bitter about the fact that no one here agrees with you about the bounty system.
For what it's worth, I've been to New Orleans and love the city. I also prefer Brees wins over $cam Newton. With the Eagles losing Wentz, Saints have a big opening now to advance deep in the playoffs.
I'm claiming the assist on that statement. Or at least putting my name in the credits of that movie
Going to be an interesting finish to the season. Thankfully, the falcons hold tie breakers over most everyone on the wild card fringe. The final game against Carolina could have huge implications depending how things shake out.
Basically Richardson has a soft spot for several players that Gettleman was low-balling, and apparently there were some rifts in the locker room because of it.
Also, Gettleman was dragging his feet on re-signing Trai Turner. And there was still a sour taste among a lot of fans over the handling of Josh Norman. Still, the news came out of left field
In retrospect tho, aren't the Panthers better off that they didn't blow their wad on a huge CB contract the way the Jets did with Revis? Norman is good, but look at the Redskins. And after a down year, the Panthers are back.
Oh for sure. Bradberry has really turned out this season, after a promising rookie season. But Gettleman was fired in like June I think, and the biggest reason we were so awful last year was because of our secondary. And Cam wasn't playing his best. But regardless, I reckon that's why he was fired.
Not saying I necessarily agree with it now, but if it was that big of a deal in the locker room I guess it was for the best. Also for the record, you should've been drafting Scam before his MVP season; I think he finished in the top 5 fantasy QB's every year but last year

He drafted McCaffrey tho.
I'm hoping the Giants bring him back. I strongly believe he was the reason the Giants were good in the late 2000s.
At this point, the Saints would have to win out AND need the Eagles to lose all three remaining games OR for the Vikings to lose two out of three to get a first round bye.
Despite the loss of Wentz, the Eagles aren't losing to the Giants, Raiders at home, and Cowboys at home. With Elliot coming back, maybe they lose to Dallas. The Vikings may lose at Green Bay in two weeks, especially with Rodgers coming back. But I can't see them also losing to the Bengals at home or the Bears at home. If they do manage a loss against the Bengals, I might start getting excited, but I just don't see it.
So the best I can realistically hope for is the division crown, and even that is up in the air at this point. The biggest game is in two weeks at home against the Falcons. If we win that one, our only competition is Carolina. Carolina has to play Rodgers in his return this week and go to Atlanta in Week 17. That's a tougher schedule.
It should be a crazy and exciting final three weeks

I agree, the rest is just the general consensus and unnecessary banter but come on man - what a great few weeks of football to tie the season up ahead of us. Also:
You have to admit that Drew Brees is deterioratinf before our eyes. He's still better than most QBs in this league but he's not at all able to make deep throws accurately and he's been forcing a lot of bad passes into good coverage lately. If it wasn't for Alvin Kamara (who is a fucking animal), Brees would be lost.
That's preposterous. Brees has been working with a makeshift Offensive line most of the year. The few weeks the Saints were healthy there, they went undefeated. You can look at the stretch of Dolphins, Lions, Packers, Bears, Bucs string and the aggregate score is 148-77 and a 5-0 record during that stretch. Armstead got hurt again two weeks ago, and we've been scrambling. We made it up in the Redskins game straight up on Brees' 11-11 performance in the last two drives as time was running out.
Otherwise, I think you're dropping groupthink shit about Brees. His downfield balls haven't been great this year, but chalking that up to deterioration is speculative at best. He's been rushed a bit (even though the sacks are low), we now have a Top 3 running game in the NFL and Brandon Cooks is no longer on the roster. Tedd Ginn has been pretty good for the deep game, but he's not Brandon Cooks. Michael Thomas is a solid #1, but he's not all that fast for the downfield game and not really a deep threat outside of blown coverages.
Brees (despite the running game) is at an all time high for him in passing completions at 71.3%. His previous best was when he led the league (like he's doing this year) in 2011 with 71.2% which is second all time to Sam Bradford's 71.6% percentage last year.
Here's a few other stats (facts) regarding him this year:
Average yards per completion 8.1 which is the 3rd highest of his career
Attempts per game 33.9 the second lowest of his career (running game kicking in)
Interception Percentage 1.3% which is the lowest of his career
QB Rating 104.1 which is the 3rd highest of his career
So I don't think you can legitimately say he's deteriorating except with anecdotal evidence. This is a different team.
As to your original point that the Saints aren't as good as their 8-3 record, I think that's a fair point up for debate. I thought the same thing when they were on the 8 game winning streak. But then the two starting CB's got injured, and our backups aren't doing enough. Dennis Allen relies on Lattimore's ability to shut down an entire side of the field. Both he and Crawley are back at Practice as of yesterday, so hopefully both will be available to slap that sweep on the Panthers this weekend. At the same time, without Alex Okafor rushing opposite Cam Jordan, it remains to be seen if the Saints can generate the kind of pass rush they will need during the final 5 game stretch including the Panthers game this weekend and the 2 games vs. Atlanta in weeks 14 and 16.
What's your take on the Saints D this weekend. I just dropped Denver D for them...
The only real story about them was that they were taking a cautious approach to Petty. I expect a couple of turnovers and probably a few sacks. I don’t think they’ll give up that many points but I’m not sure overall we cover the 15 or 16 spit. The Jets will probably rip off one or two long runs but they aren’t likely to put up much more than 300 yards total I wouldnt think. We do have some injuries on D, but I think impact will be minimum.
And here is today’s injury report on D. Safety Kenny Vaccaro (groin), guard Andrus Peat (groin) and tight end Josh Hill (shoulder) were limited for a second consecutive day.
Linebacker A.J. Klein (groin) and rookie defensive end Trey Hendrickson (ankle) continue to not practice.
It wasn't a crack. That game was fucking crazy. We were there and were in that number of fans chanting "Turley! Turley! Turley." Saints ended up losing the game, but he did the right thing. Damian Robinson tackled Aaron Brooks and proceeded to grab him by the facemask and helmet trying to break his neck or injure him (though he claimed him as a friend !?!?). Turley saw it and heard Brooks shriek and went after him until he got his fucking helmet off and threw it and then gave the up yours arms to the Jets bench. He got 30 yards on that one and an ejection. Haslett said he was going to cut him but Kyle called him up at 1 in the am and told him what happened. Also we had the game on record and as soon as I got home, I watched it to see what Mike Patrick had on the call. At first they were like wtf was Turley doing (like a roid Rage or something) then he saw what happened to Brooks and he didn't blame him. Here's the video of that.
Also, we were in the nosebleeds and there were too many loud and drunk Jets fans. We would intercept their chants with J E T S Suck Suck Suck, and there were fights all over the place that game. Haha.
Last I saw him was with Kyle Turley Band at Voodoo ‘11. I wanted to see Blink, but my boy Brad insisted we go see KTB. We walk into the tent he was playing and Brad busted the helmet throw move. He’s also like 6’3” and so Turley saw us coming in and nodded our way. Haha. I know he runs with Phil Anselmo and all the metal guys but his band was sort of a dark swamp country kind of band. See you this weekend man. \m/

Along the lines of what esteban said, I wouldn't be surprised if we had at least a couple interceptions and maybe a pick six if we're lucky. Vaccaro should play and we have Lattimore and Crawley both back, so the secondary is going to be looking sharp against Petty. With AJ Klein almost definitely out, we'll be missing our defensive qb and probably allow some big plays, but I doubt they can score more than the teens against us. Pass rush hasn't been the same since we lost Alex Okafor, though, so sack total will probably be around 1-3 even with Petty.
Offensively, we should have Kamara, Ingram, Thomas, Ginn, Brees, Hill, and almost a full O-line all playing, so I expect to see us score some points this week, especially against the Jets D in the Dome.
"The NFL remains committed to providing a respectful workplace to all employees. We take these allegations seriously and will withhold comment while the investigation is ongoing."
Or something similarly worthless.
I have zero need for comments from coaches, GM's, owners and league official on any topic. They have perfected the art of saying absolutely nothing of interest regardless of the occasion. Most players are equally vanilla.

Reports state Marvin Lewis is leaving the Bengals at the end of this season to "explore other options". I really can't believe he got to stay there as long as he did and then still gets to resign before he gets fired.

My guess is they gave him the option to quit or get fired

That's what I'm saying. How do you underachieve for that long and not only not get fired seasons ago but also get to quit rather than get fired. It's amazing.
