This week's match against the Falcons is the biggest game of the year for the Saints. Win either remaining game and the Saints are at least in the playoffs. We control our own destiny for the division crown.
Seattle at Dallas (with Elliot coming back) will eliminate one of these teams from contention, so that's a huge game, too.
Falcons hate week is coming to an end. I can't talk shit because we lost the last few vs after mostly owning in the Payton era. Kenny Vaccaro and AJ Klein hit the IR this week, so the defense is going to have to seriously step up. It's the end of the year, and attrition is part of survival. Assuming Alvin Kamara doesn't take another cheap shot to the head, look for him to have a big game. Tough call as to how this one goes, but the city is jacked up about this game. It's a Blackout.
Another week, another TD ridiculously overturned by replay, again going in the Pats favor.
Oh, and 3 penalties for 9 yards in the last two weeks.
If it takes ten minutes to complete a review then maybe you're trying too hard. The standard is that there needs to be "indisputable evidence" to overturn the call on the field and it's pretty obvious that there wasn't.

That's the important part of this. If it had been originally called as incomplete, I would have zero issue with it being incomplete. I would have been equally surprised if it got overturned to a touchdown. It was just so close that Ii don't see how they could overturn it either way.

Thankfully the Pats won by several TDs so it didn't matter in the end.
Outside of arguments that can be made and never be answered about how it affected the Bills going into halftime, there's still that this is getting set as a precedent as something the league will overturn. One touchdown didn't make a difference score wise in this game, but you never know how this may come up again especially with the playoffs coming up.

This is at least the third TD that has been taken off the board against them that I'm aware of. (Pittsburgh's Jesse James and NY's Austin Sefarian Jenkins.)
Saints can get 3, 4 or 5. That's somewhat unfortunate, but we'll be a tough opponent in the playoffs. Saints vs. Bucs and Falcons vs. Panthers just got flexed to the afternoon next week. That means the simultaneous Seattle game also will draw more fan interest. Good move by the NFL in terms of rescheduling the games that will make a difference.

A truly horrifying performance from the Jaguars leading into the playoffs. It's crazy how, as a fan, you can go from thinking this is one of the best defenses of all time to not thinking very highly of them at all after one game.

I wouldn't read too much into it. They didn't have much to play for, played like crap, and almost beat probably the hottest team in the NFL.

Yeah I'm sure that's the objective standpoint.
I'm one of those crazy reactionary fans that thinks the 49ers just laid out the blueprint on how to pick apart this defense. We'll see. I'm just pumped to be a part of our first home playoff game since 1999.

As long as they get their stuff together to beat the Titans...

I think we should rest up and let them beat us so we can play them instead of the Chargers in round one.
So I had been looking forward to the Saints and Falcons game all week long. I would catch myself thinking about it and getting anxiety at work. So I go to my parents house in Mississippi on Saturday for Christmas weekend.
I woke up Sunday and all I could think about was the game. So 11:50 comes around and we go to put it on. My parents use Directv apparently. It was at that moment that they inform me that Directv and Fox have had a dispute for a few months now and they do not get Fox, the channel showing the game.
Frantically, I call up friends that are in town. They all have Directv. I call up the 4-5 restaurants in town with tvs. They all use Directv. There are no bars open because it's Sunday #jesus.
My dad and I hopped into my car and drove thirty miles into Louisiana to a Mexican restaurant in Amite, listening to the game on the radio the whole time. We make it to the bar right as Lattimore is making the "Fanny Pick"! We get our first beers just as Ginn is scoring a touchdown. It was a Christmas miracle.
As far as the playoffs go, this week basically determines whether we play Carolina for a third time this season at home or away. More importantly, it's about winning the divisional crown. Obviously, I would rather us play the Panthers in the Dome. When is the last time a team beat another team three times in one season? Has that ever happened? A win would then set us up to travel out to chilly Philly for the second round.
There is still a long shot chance at the 3 seed. In that scenario, I'm not sure if I would rather play Atlanta again or Seattle. Seattle is down some key defensive players, but you can never count them out.
This week I'm forced to choose between the Falcons and Panthers. This season I'm feeling more of a pull for the Panthers for some reason. I love 2 that the Falcons have 2 Clemson greats on their defensive line, but I've enjoyed watching Cam, McCaffrey and the Panthers this year. But in all honesty, I believe the Rams are team I've enjoyed the most this year.
I really hope the Cowboys consider trade offers for Dez Bryant. Maybe they can work out some package to Seattle for Earl Thomas + a pick? Even though Dez' contract is high and he drops a lot of easily catch-able throws, there's always a need on a roster for a WR of his caliber. I heard the Jets could be interested as well. I just think it's time to rebuild the WR core, and figure out who's going to succeed Witten, because he sounds like he's either done now or next season will end up his last . I wish they'd fire Garrett but that's just not going to happen. Josh McDaniels could definitely groom Dak in the same way McVay has for Goff in L.A.. No way McDaniels would ever want to coach under a control freak like Jerruh though.

Rams are fun as shit. They should have more fans the way they play. Ideally for me the saints get through wildcard weekend and get to play and beat both the Rams and Vikings in the NFC playoffs and then the Patriots in the Super Bowl. All 3 of them beat us earlier in the year.

That would be pretty interesting if they could play Atlanta in the wildcard, Vikings in divisional, Rams in NFC Championships, and then Patriots in the Super Bowl. If they won the trophy that way, they'd have beaten all four teams that beat them in the regular season.
But I'll just be happy for now with winning this week before I think too much further ahead.
