There are a few, though I'm not one of them. I'll chokingly be pulling for them this week over the Eagles in order that the Saints, if they can somehow beat Minnesota, would host the NFC Championship game. Having said that, the Falcons are solid competition. Ryan is a great QB, and there is a great stable of skill players over there. They built their team to compete with the Saints offensively and have done a decent job under Quinn. However, we should have swept them this year and probably would have had Kamara not been knocked out of the first game.
Some of the biggest keys to beating them include knocking their receivers off their routes because they do employ timing routes (Ryan can throw pretty much anything) and also paying special attention to Devanta Freeman. He can break any play wide open and can be valuable on the edge or between the tackles, so he has to be contained. Ultimately they finished a game out of first at 10-6. Their six losses were as follows:
17-23 Bills (Week 4)
17-20 Dolphins (Week 6)
07-23 Patriots (Week 7)
17-20 Panthers (Week 9)
09-14 Vikings (Week 13)
13-23 Saints (Week 16)
All of those games except the Saints and Patriots were close with them losing by 6, 3, 3 and 5 in the other 4.
It should also be pointed out that they won a few games by the skin of their teeth. Week 1 they beat the Bears by only 6 when the Bears had first and goal on the Atlanta 5 yard line. If I'm not mistaken, the Bears receivers dropped touchdown passes on both first and second down. Week 3, they beat the Lions by 4 when a touchdown by Golden Tate with 8 seconds remaining was called back because they said he was down on the half yard line. By rule, they had to run 10 seconds off the game clock and so the Falcons won. Even Week 14 when they beat the Saints, it was in the final moments of the game when they intercepted Brees in the endzone, and then in the ensuing next drive, Coach Payton ran on the field and got called for unsportsmanlike conduct when we had a chance to stop them and get the ball back one last time.
As much as I would love to beat Minnesota and then host Atlanta in the Dome for the NFC championship and beat their asses, I don't want to risk the chance that Atlanta makes it back to the Super Bowl. So with that being said, I hope Philly wipes the floor with them.

you won't have to worry about it
I get what you're saying, but I want Atlanta out ASAP whether the Saints win Sunday or not haha

that's the weird like theory thing for the vikes. the avenge everything scenario. beating the saints for 09 then the falcons for 98 lol. it's a dumb thing. i do think it'll be a good game sunday and it can obv go either way. us minnesotans are just used to some epic failure moments that's for sure

My krewe is having our Mardi Gras ball on Saturday so I'm going to be super hung over for the game Sunday. I hope that the Saints play well enough to not make me feel any worse than I inevitably will feel. I am super jacked about this match up. I truly think whoever wins will end up repping the NFC in the Super Bowl.
I don't remember having it before or was that what we used for negative karma points?
Yeah the positive and negative karma points.. I used to care so much about those points. I'm going to end up disliking so many of my own posts when I read them the next day
Drew, like Brady, still has a lot of miles left in him. We all knew it was over for Manning in his last season. Drew will likely play for 3 more seasons.
FWIW, the Vikings are 19-10 all time vs. the Saints and 13-3 in Minneapolis. This is the lowest winning percentage the Saints have against any NFC team and any NFC city. ^^^^ From a NOLA.com article
But fuck all that. Vikings are favorites and should be. The game should be theirs to lose vs. a relatively tough opponent, us. We are hurt with 4 starters on D on IR and a couple from the O as well. But it doesn't matter. We will compete and hopefully be there at the end with a shot to win or hold on for victory.
i know this vid is unrelated but damn moss was the greatest
edit: that's one thing i will say as a vikings fan. it was truly awesome to be able to watch moss and peterson in their primes. two of the best to ever play their positions
Figured it was time to talk bounties. I’m giving the Saints about a 40% chance of winning and about a 15% chance of winning by a TD or more. I really want the Saints to give Vikings fans another reason to hate us during that long cold winter. But I still have to be realistic.

i still remember the feeling watching that game in my buddy's garage with 15-20 people and the silence that came over everybody when the interception was thrown. how the fuck do you come out of a timeout with 12 MEN IN THE FUCKING HUDDLE
(and I have no problem eating crow on that, I genuinely like Case, and have always been a decent fan of the Vikes because of Moss and how they trolled GB with the Farve signing)
Keenum had a great year and all. But in the playoffs I'm taking Brees over Case in basically every situation, rest of the team be damned.
Agreed. He's the reason Bridgewater remains seated even though I'm assuming he gets the job back next year if re-signed. I'm not really sure what the Vikings are doing there or why because I don't follow them closely enough. I do know that neither are signed for next year, but that's kind of puzzling. I realize it's not the NBA where holding and trading in assets is often key to advancing up the pecking order. But an asset is still an asset. Bridgewater or Keenum with a friendly contract could have been traded for what I believe could be a fairly high level pick. The Patriots always have a stockpile of mid and upper round picks every year, and they often make moves with those to get more for the subsequent years because they're always sitting on so many and they win all the time. Keenum I think was signed as a free agent and was undrafted. Getting him to ink a 2 or 3 year deal could have yielded either a 2nd or 3rd for not much. Bridgewater I think was a late 1st when he was drafted, and he may still be worth about that value - but in any case, he'd probably be worth a high second depending on terms of a contract that never got signed. I don't know.
eh, with keenum its different, he was brought in to back up teddy and sam, they also gave up a lot for Sam and Teddy hasn't played in a while, idk what value he still has at this point. there's no way anyone predicted case to play as well as he has all year and his current contract reflects that. he's also going to be 30, I pray for the team that gives him 30 mil over 3 years (seen some say more than that) off of one good year.
the teddy v. sam debate is going to be the one they end up having, and I'd assume they stay with Sam otherwise that trade was a miserable lobsided deal, and most gms/owners don't seem to be able to move on from things like that. them cutting teddy's 5th year option also makes me think they move on from him.

honestly i don't think we have anybody signed here for next year. during the season a lot of people were wanting teddy to start (in the middle of cases win streak no less). teddy was going into his 3rd year where we were really going to see if he can break out and be really good. he was always a little fidgety back there in the pocket. i'd def be open to trading him at this point.
to the point of brees vs case. well we're in our home stadium and it's brees vs our defense, thus me giving us the edge there. different venues/opponents will skew things, but we can play at home the rest of the season if it all works out

Fuck, nevermind. I forgot all about Bradford. But wait, isn't he an UFA as well? I understand not being settled at QB, but any of this could have been remedied during the year. Letting all 3 walk, which I don't think the Vikings will do but it certainly is within the realm of possibility, seems kind of a waste of assets.

yeah theres a really good chance they all walk.
but they're all not without their, pretty glaring imo, flaws. bradford/keenum old, bradford/teddy injury, teddy/keenum not a great track record of success. I don't really know what the crop of FA's/draft picks has with Qbs available, but there's a lot of risk dumping a lot of money into either of these guys.

Anyone interested in doing a little pick em from here on out? Winner gets a poster from a festival they didn't attend. (I have a bunch left over from a festival I did).
TEN v NE - NE wins, Tenn covers ATL v PHI - Atl wins (meaning they cover) NO v MIN - NO wins (meaning they cover) JAX v PIT - Pit wins and covers
What spread are you using? I’d be in with the same first 3 picks but I’ll take the Jaguars plus 7 to cover. I think the Patriots might actually cover, but 13 is a lot.
