The Strokes are the only one of these that ever connected with young people as much as VW and they're still connecting to that audience now.
I don't think that's accurate. The book Meet Me in the Bathroom talks about the rampant, young adult fanbase behind bands like Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The National, Interpol, etc. I remember people in high school digging Arcade Fire as well. It seems like a lot of these bands' fanbases have grown up with them. Vampire Weekend seems to be the exception to this.

I do agree with Tristan that The Strokes still have a good amount of young fans. I've never seen them live but I've heard Reptilia gets the best crowd reception, probably because a lot of young people discovered them on Guitar Hero.
Finally back home from a 2 week cross-country roadtrip with a friend that took us over 4,600 miles through 11 states. Super fun and a great experience but very draining once the adrenaline wears off from the excitement.
Top 10 favorite sets from the fest: 1. Arctic Monkeys - much better than I remember the first time I saw them at Life Is Beautiful. Great crowd around me as it was close to a continuous mosh for the first 30-40 min of their set. 2. Bruno Mars - probably the best set of the weekend. This guy (along with his immensely talented band) is as great a performer as we have alive today. 3. BROCKHAMPTON - the most fun set of the weekend for me. Yes, it was a clusterfuck between GVF and Brock, and yes, the dirt/dust from the ground and everyone's sweat made everyone dirty the rest of the night but it was all so worth it. 4. Catfish & the Bottlemen - great to see such a good turnout for them. I fully expect bigger and better things in their future. 5. Greta Van Fleet 6. The Wombats 7. CHVRCHES 8. Vampire Weekend 9. Tash Sultana 10. The Regrettes
