I wasn't going to go because life was getting in the way, but my wife and I just applied for Clean Vibes volunteer sessions this morning. Won't know my schedule for like two weeks, but hey I'll be there! Fingers crossed for day shifts.

Anyone coming last minute, I may have an extra room in the Airbnb house I rented. One of my buddies might not be able to go. We are a bunch of degenerates, so just... keep that in mind though if you’d consider it.

Does anyone know if they're doing Thursday wrist band pick up? I feel like I vaguely remember something about that last year, but we had single day tickets for Saturday, so I didn't really pay much attention. Going for the whole weekend this year, so I'd like to avoid the long line for pickup on Friday if at all possible.

Thursday night at Against the Grain brewery. They have music for a good portion of the night but only give out wrist bands for the first hour or two.

serious question - is it worth it to have 2 bourbon lodge passes (30 drinks). I'm a heavy weight and they are popping up on stubhub. I have never been and don't know how they are pouring

A couple years ago I would have said yes but they monitor how much the bartenders can pour now pretty closely. If you want a nice or rare bourbon you will probably use 6 tickets for a 1/4 ounce pour. If you want to just taste some stuff you normally don't drink it may be worth it but don't expect anything that resembles a hefty pour in the bourbon lodge. You are better off just taking in a flask.
Anyone know if there is free parking around this thing?
Uh depends on what time you get there. After 6, most of the street parking is free (and all day Sunday it is as well) but you're probably going to have to pay for a spot assuming you get there early in the day. It can be as cheap as $5-7 if you find the right lot though.

So I'm working clean vibes this year. $25 and two 6 hour shifts and I get the rest of the festival free.
They asked me what three acts I want to see the most, I said Modest Mouse, Courtney Barnett and Father John Misty. So naturally they scheduled me during Modest Mouse and Father John Misty.
I work Friday night and Saturday morning, which sucks. But maybe I can get stationed somewhere near the main stage. Silver lining is that after Saturday at 6, I have the rest of the festival to myself. I can't complain that much because I'm seeing Jenny Lewis, War on Drugs, T-Pain, Chris Stapleton, White Reaper, Khruangbin, Punch Bros, Trampled by Turtles, Jason Isbell, Courtney Barnett and Arcade Fire for $25. But missing two big ones is still a bummer.

Shameless plug for my kid. If you are at the festival at 4:30 on Friday you should consider coming to see the Louisville Leopard Percussionist. They have been playing locally and nationally for 25 years now and consist of 2nd through 6th graders in the main leopards and 7th through 10th grader in the steel leopards. Come support the kids and here some tunes by Stevie Wonder, Talking Heads and Ozzy Ousborne among others. Shameless plug over.

I'll probably stop through to be honest, my shift doesn't start until 6. Cheers and good luck to them!

Leaving in the AM and heading there! I think we are going to try to stop by the festival kick off at Against the Grain Thursday night. If you happen to see me, say "Hi" I'd love to run into other inforooers!

Can’t make it to AtG tonight but if you’re there get the Citra IpA. My favorite locally brewed beer in like a 100 mile radius
We're doing a little piece on the best performances in Forecastle history and I'd enjoy getting your thoughts.
Headed that way in 9 days!
If you are still working this up Sleater-Kinney's farewell tour appearance in 2006 was quite memorable. That was year it happened at Mellwood Arts Center which was an amazing space and gave great emphasis to art/activism side of things too which fest has drifted away from sadly. Current scale of course wouldn't be feasible at that location.
DEVO in 2010 was spectacular. Smashing Pumpkins & Cake's performances that same day made it a really good day all around.
The entire 2014 was amazing as has been mentioned by others here. Outkast was legendary, Slint hometown reunion show, Jack White's headline set drew much praise, Beck was marvelous and energetic and surprising given Morning Phase was his current release then. I'd give a special shoutout to The Replacements which featured Billy Joe Armstrong playing with them. Never felt this show got nearly enough recognition.
Run the Jewels, LCD Soundsystem & PJ Harvey were personal favorites from last year and this year would give it up big for Courtney Barnett & Arcade Fire.

Ranking the shows I saw:
Courtney Barnett Arcade Fire Father John Misty Jenny Lewis Modest Mouse Jai Wolf White Reaper Punch Brothers 1/3 of Chris Stapleton Khruangbin Spencer Lee Band Yardij Devon Gilfillian PVRIS Louis the Child T-Pain - so crowded I barely consider that I saw him
Clean Vibes work wasn't that bad. It was hot and I spent more time in the sun than I would have liked, but I got to see around 15 shows and get a dope staff shirt (and use staff entrance) for $25. I'd definitely be interested in doing it again for line-ups that I feel are mediocre. If I don't mind losing some hours of the fest, its a great deal.
Chris Stapleton being 45 minutes late was shitty. T-Pain was packed and not that great sounding anyway. Tried to go to War on Drugs and also couldn't see there. Saturday was just a clusterfuck of people and by far my least favorite day. Friday and Sunday were great days of music though. This festival is unparalleled in convenience and ease of getting to the front of shows. All in all, a really great time for a so-so lineup. I hope they go back to the highs of 2014 and 2017 for next year.
