Alt-J is definitely playing Saturday now, so I updated the clashfinder accordingly. All the headliners have been determined by date at this point.. Might try to catch Kendrick at FF on the Sunday of this weekend, or I might just check him out in Philly the weekend beforehand. Either way, JJ is a hard pass for me.

For a different perspective, and just knowing that the smaller bands have historically played second sets inside the lounge.
I trust your judgement since you're a veteran of this fest, and this looks about as good to me.. Honestly, the arrangement and set times don't matter to me as much as the overall day by day lineup.. I don't think I can make it the entire weekend, so as long as Sunday's lineup looks like that I'll be happy. I tried to group all the folk/classic rock acts with Sturgill Simpson, and all the electronic/contemporary acts the same day as alt-J, but a more diverse lineup by day would be equally cool.

Last year was our first Mountain Jam and we had a blast. I remember reading on the old message boards about a swimming hole that people party at. We never went looking for it last year but we wanna find it this year. Anyone have any info?

First time going too, but would love to know of a swimming hole, maybe can Google earth it's location...Also, I"m going solo so look forward to meeting some new people...
So the full lineup was released on Friday 02/10 last year.. Hoping that happens again this year. This is the only feasible US fest I'm eyeing, and a handful of solid additions would really put this over the top. Hoping any (or all) of these are added: Primus (they have the 17th open on their schedule), Thundercat, Broken Social Scene, Moses Sumney, or Kamasi Washington. I know this is selfish, but I'm so glad this fest moved to an indie rock vibe now that Firefly is dead to me.

The website says 50 artists, we've got 37 so far...I think we'll get some adds soon enough, and they still need to announce the Thursday preparty.
Which I hope doesn't eat too much into Valley and Mountain Stage additions, because the Thursday night jam is not an option for me, I work seasonally as it is and taking off 4 days over a weekend is not an option, even in the beginning of summer. 3-5 Main/Valley stage additions would make me happy.

If it's anything like last year, the Thursday preparty bands are already on the bill. Last year there were only like 4 bands on Thursday I believe.
I mean, as nerdy as it is, I've been studying the schedule layout for the last couple years. What was the deal with Thursday night between 2016 and 2017? Did the bigger main stages Thursday night in 2016 not work well, or did they just improve the Tap House stage in 2017? And would you expect the same type of Thursday night (as 2017) for 2018?

2016 and before this had expanded to a 4 full-day fest. They would have Thursday as the jammiest day of all for the diehards. Usually was headlined by a band like Umphreys/moe.
In 2017, they downsized to a 3 day festival with a preparty for campers only. It's in the "Tap house" and it probably didn't hold more than a few hundred people (at most). I'd expect the same sort of Thursday night as 2017 going forward, if they do it at all.

If they're already on the schedule, I think you could expect to see anyone from Aaron Tessmer Band and lower on Thursday. Last year they announced bands and then only had them play the Thursday preparty (The National Reserve, Marco Benevento, The Big Takeover, Sinkane played late night)

Hmm.. Also where is the Valley Stage in relation to the Mountain Stage.. From pictures, it looks like there's a decent size side stage right next to the Mountain Stage. Is that the Valley Stage?

It's immediately next to the stage, either on the left or the right depending on the year. It's been on the right the past two years since they changed the VIP layout, etc. It's pretty small but it's held pretty sizable bands (Turkuaz, Marco, Frasco)

This one? The water is frigid moving mountain water, so I am not sure how much of a swimming hole it is. MJ was never that warm when I have gone, but I am sure if I was sweating it would be different. If this is it, it's up from the main camping slope and keep to the right. At some point a little bit up you have to veer right on a path in the trees. I am not sure I can get more specific than that, but I can ask my old crew if someone can think of more detailed instructions. I also haven't been back in years, so if this is it, it might be fenced like Vinnie the Eel said.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Yet another bonus of this festival, no overlapping sets and no rushing between stages. I like it.

That's the one, Bonz. It's been fenced in lately but people always seem to find a way through. Not like there's any security guards posted.

Biggest recommendation I can give for anyone, if camping, is get in as early as possible when they open the show field. Plop your camping chair down where you can get a view of both stages (the right side the past couple years), and do whatever you want. It'll always be there when you come back and when you need to take a load off.

Love the honor system attendees of this fest seem to have, but my style is to get up close if I really wanna see the act.. I assume lawnchairs are pretty scant the closer you get to the stage.

I get up close too, but I don't need to be super close for every act and the chair in a good position is an easy way to preserve your legs for the acts you really wanna get up close for.
If I were 10 years older I'd definitely take this advice.. However, if all the stages are central like that then I doubt I'll get too exhausted.. I mean, if I can survive a festival like Firefly or Bonnaroo where I literally walked 10 miles everyday for 4 days, then this should be a breeze from an exhaustion standpoint. Plus ski lifts!

I've been there as security guards have come through/checked in on stuff. Don't think they kicked anyone out while I was there but not sure what happened after. Lots of people were swimming.
