Question for those who have been before, we're going for the first time this year, and are looking for car camping site recommendations, or does it even matter?
I've done the Hunter Car Camping for the past few years - I always try to time it so that I don't get stuck to far up the mountain - the only downside is that you are on a bit of a tilt no matter what - we still haven't perfected exactly which way to lay in our tents. But I love that it is no more than a few minutes from the main field. I like being able to hop back to camp for a quick second to grab food or beer without missing to much. We've also never been really bothered there either.
I'd think pointing feet downslope would be the most comfortable? I forgot which fest it was that I was on a slope but I think that was my solution

first time at mountain jam, but kicked myself pretty hard for missing them in the past. There are some pretty amazing acts here, still hoping for one or two more to be added (my morning jacket, twiddle, jason isbell, guster, wilco, drive-by-truckers, etc. ). I am looking forward to Jack Johnson, Father John Misty, The War on Drugs, Kurk Vile, The Decemberists and Jenny Lewis and the others. Tent camping and roughing it. Will make it fun.

welcome to the party!!
Mt. Jam is one of my fav camping fests cause its so small and intimate feeling. I love that I can hop over from camp first thing in the morning and set up my blanket and not worry that someone is going to steal it (and I totally don't mind if someone uses it while I'm not here I too am hoping Twiddle gets added. I'm sure a few more acts will be added - but I don't imagine any huge names getting tacked on.

I know, and because I have no interest in seeing Jack Johnson I put all the artists I don't care about on Sunday as well. I mean The Decemberists and Turkuaz are alright, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see them.

Oh, I was just dropping some info. Your Clashfinder is private and din't see your post. And Turkuaz always brings it. One of my most seen bands of the past year.

I would...I met a whole crew of heads i see all the time now at shows the last time i saw Decemberists...they're solid.
Alright, I changed the privacy settings. I'm not trying to slight any of the bands I put on Sunday, but compared to Kurt Vile, The War on Drugs, Portugal. the Man, George Clinton & P-Funks, Everything Everything and Father John Misty, I just don't feel like The Decemberists, Chicano Batman and Turkuaz measure up.

I'd personally see Turkuaz over any of those bands but I am way more into funk music than indie music.
P Funk is a shell of its former self. Its basically George's grandkids rapping while he walks around occassionally begging for weed (at least at the last two shows I saw).

Both of those late nights on that clashfinder would be probably the worst thing I could imagine. Hoping for PtM late night Friday so we can see some lasers and give Andy Frasco the Valley Stage latenight Saturday. I'd be pleased.

Frasco was so good last year, wasn’t he? It was hard not to be constantly smiling and dancing your ass off with their act. We can’t wait for this years shenanigans on the mountain!

Haven't listed much to Turkuaz, have to give them a try. No spotify playlist yet right? Also, Jack Johnson puts on a good show (he has a great live backing band) so it will be fun. I'm trying my best to get into Alt J. Great musicians, but will have to prepare myself for their set. All in all, I am looking forward to hearing some great live bands, new bands, meet new friends, and most importantly camping for 3 days (4 if I go on Thursday). Look forward to seeing you all there.
Alt-J is like a more electronic poor man's Radiohead. I saw both them and The War on Drugs at Landmark festival in 2015 and they were probably the two best sets of the weekend. Also, I don't care so much about seeing George Clinton as much as I do Parliament and Funkadelic, they wrote some of the best funk albums of all time.

I hear great things about Alt J's live show, and War on Drugs should be great. I've seen George Clinton, as long as Bootsy Collins is there, I should be fine.

Parliament-Funkadelic is just the name of George's backing band (or collective if you will). It is almost all his kids and grandkids now.

Damn, well that does sound underwhelming. Since funk in general is lacking on this lineup, I really hope they add Thundercat.

I feel like the slots I gave for PtM and Everything Everything are pretty interchangeable. However, seeing as PtM is in the top 5 names listed on the lineup, I figured they'd probably be the pre-headliner on the Mountain Stage, and they'd be playing at dusk-night (8-9:15) so they could still have lasers and a proper lightshow, plus it's always fun to catch a band when the sun's setting. Personally I'm more excited for Everything Everything than PtM anyway.
