The old taphouse stage was just right inside the lodge. Looks like it's still there in the same place.
oh snap! I didn't realize a new map was out! thanks!
Yeah that acoustic stage looks like it's in a parking lot adjacent to where the merch was in the past. Was a completely unused no man's land in years' past, I think they had a kid's tent there maybe? But I can't see it being too big/changing too much.
We're definitely counting down, I won't complain about it being less crowded this year!

Ooooooo. Saturday with War On Drugs into Alt-J followed by a Felice Brothers late night set (always awesome and rare) is amazing. I need to see if day passes are allowed to stay for late night shows or have to leave after headliner. That may be worth a day trip.
Only conflicts for me are Larkin Poe vs. Mondo Cozmo and Anderson East vs. Jack Broadbent. I'll prob hit 30 minutes in the tap house then be back to the stage for the big bands. Might do the same with Mapache as well. I say THANK YOU to Mountain Jam for putting TWOD in a 90 minute set when the sun will be going down. Disappointed they didn't do the same for PtM. We may be out after FJM on Sunday so I can sleep in my own bed.
I'm not going anymore, but this is a pretty ideal schedule, besides PtM being an evening set. I could literally see every artist I have any interest in seeing.
If I were going I'd see: Friday:Chicano Batman > Rag'n'Bone Man > Woods > Jenny Lewis > Steve Gunn > PtM > Sturgill Simpson > Turkuaz > Andy Frasco & the UN
Saturday:Alice Merton > Jack Broadbent > Anderson East > Liz Vice > The Record Company > The Other Brothers > The Decemberists > The War on Drugs > Everything Everything > Alt-J > George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic
Sunday: Son Little > Larkin Poe > Mondo Cozmo > Jade Bird > Kurt Vile & the Violators > Father John Misty > Early start home during JJ
I hope this fest continues in this direction, but with seemingly abysmal ticket sales I doubt it.
03/14 - Thievery Corporation 04/25 - Black Country, New Road 05/04 - In Flames, Gatecreeper 05/10 - Modern Life is War 05/21 - Spite, Bodysnatcher, Thrown 05/29 - Knocked Loose, Loathe, Show me the Body, Speed 06/02 - Bush 06/22 - George Thorogood 06/23 - Dillinger Escape Plan, Deadguy, Candy, Carbomb
I really don't understand The Felice Brothers hype. I know George Clinton is a tired old stoner at this point, but he's a recording legend and he's retiring from performing after next year. To each their own I guess, but The Felice Brothers sound like a Bob Dylan family band tribute, imo.

They're so much more than that but I get that's the impression they've given off. The lead singer definitely had a bit of "He sounds/resembles Dylan" early on. But they've made some experimental stuff as well with a different kind of sound. I'm also a superfan of theirs so I've seen them evolve a bit over time. I think Ian Felice is one of the most underrated and talented songwriters but the band has hit speed bump after speed bump over the years while the acts they are friends with/started out with have eclipsed them now (When I first saw Deer Tick play they were opening for the Felice Brothers).
That said....this show may not be as awesome as others because they've gone through (another) transition in the band where two long-time members left so they're still trying to put the pieces together for a rocking live show.
And my Clinton/P-Funk experience was a mess the few times I've seen them. George Clinton didn't show up until like 40 minutes into their set and looked lost for most of it. There was a huge chunk where it was just his daughter rapping her own stuff and I was bored. I have heard they're great at times after that but I have not enjoyed the few times I've stopped by their festival sets.
Damn, may have to consider driving up on Saturday for 90 minutes of TWOD.
Only a hour at Primavera Sound and with some of their songs clocking in close to 10 minutes, this is a whole lot more appealing.
Yeah, especially when you look at setlist.fm and notice that Thinking of a Place has not been played in their regular hourly festival sets. 90 minutes should allow for its appearance.

Have seen them with the current lineup, and still think that they evolve/get better every time I see them.
Hi all, first-time poster on this thread. We had a great time last year, but I've been on the fence about returning this year. The schedule solidifies it-
Schedule - Most of the acts I want to see get an hour or more set, with FJM and Decemberists getting 1:15, and TWOD getting 1:30 minutes- like getting a second headliner. The dozen acts I want to see (some for years) on Saturday and Sunday would get 15-30 minutes less at other, "major" festivals. Main stage is idle for only 30 minutes (mostly) between acts. My only conflict is Jade Bird overlapping Kurt Vile by 30 minutes- but I'd be shocked if Jade even HAS an hour of material to play!
Lineup - Like many, I questioned the lack of a "blockbuster" headliner (like Tom Petty last year). Is Eminem bigger than Alt-J? Sure, but I'd choose watching Alt-J over Eminem. Plus I'd prefer a stronger undercard to having a "blockbuster" headliner drain the talent budget.
More favorites + Longer sets = See you on the Mountain!
Anyone ever purchase MJ tickets on stubhub? Is it safe/trustworthy?
Thanks!
I have. It's been safe but know that if things get cancelled (if we lose a day, for instance due to weather) good luck getting that refund from the seller.

Anyone here doing Hunter Car Camping this year?
I'm trying to figure out what time to arrive on site to get a spot closer towards the bottom of the mountain. I'm afraid that attendance will be so low this year that if we arrive at our normal time we are going to get stuck too far up? (I ideally love that sweet spot down near the road over into camp or a bit lower where it starts to even out)

Thoughts or plans for this year??
These were my exact thoughts, but I want to get my campsite up and finished by early to mid afternoon. I’m thinking of getting there a bit later, maybe noon. We bought two spots this year to spread out a bit more.

I'd just imagine less space no? Based on their expected attendance?

Do you think attendance will be higher than usual this year?
My thoughts so far is that there will be less people camping since there will be less people going in general (They just announced buy 2 get 2 free tickets - and they have day passes on groupon....)

One year I'll splurge and do mountain top!
If we're judging by these sales and the fact that in the past Mtn Top camping sold out immediately, there are two guesses we can make:
1. They drastically expanded Mountain Top Camping and Hunter Car Camping and that's why it hasn't sold out yet 2. Attendance is down among the "older" crowd who have the money to spend on these two options

I believe #2.
I believe #2 as well. I hope the crowd isn’t too young. I mean Sara and I can hang but we’d rather hangout with like minded people closer to 40, not 20.

Just gonna throw in and say Mountain Top more than pays for itself in the manner of we literally bring anything we want into the venue after passing the security guy a tip on day 1.

If we go next year I will do Mountain too, especially since I paid for two hunter car camping spots this year. I may have a camper by then anyway.
