Heading to mountain jam solo, and first time. Would love to meet up and listen to some great acts. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm a married father of 3, so this is my "alone time" bucket list event. The work schedule finally allowed me to attend this year. Huge MMJ/Wilco/Dispatch fan and had to miss out in past years, but going to make the most of it, life is unpredictable.
What made me pull the trigger this year was Jack Johnson, the Decemberists, Father John Misty (amazing talented folk artists J Tilman), The War on Drugs, Kurt Vile. I'm looking forward to Alt J, Jenny Lewis, PTM, and Sturgill Simpson as well. More importantly, reading the lineup, I started checking out new music and am psyched to see Mapache (and hopefully some Grateful Shred tunes), Felice Brothers, Son Little, Alice Merton, Jade Bird and others...
Maybe this isn't the "best" lineup ever, but they did a darn good job filling the slots in my opinion.
Yes, I question the BOGO or B2G2 offers after getting us in pre-sale, but what can you do. I'm ready to jam.

I think they really missed the boat on booking a grateful shred set since Mapache is there. Would have been a fun late night or even morning

Congrats on the hook up! We will see you out on the mountain. If you come across camp McPink in your travels stop by. We all owe you a beer for the intel.

don't know if anyone looked at Portugal's setlist from hangout, but it is so good! Has me very excited for their set here.
Yeah i mean looks like basically the same set they’ve been playing for the last year
Wish they played more songs from the first two albums but I get why they don't. I just remember falling in love with some of those versions of songs the first time seeing them at Roo.

No matter how much we try we just can’t get into Alt-J. There are a ton of acts we are excited to see. Alt-J just isn’t one of them. Someone give us something to change our minds, please.

I saw alt -j behind their first album live, and I don't especially care for them either. Something I will say about their live shows is that they usually have stunning visuals whether that be just lights or images too. The three core guys met at art school, and are pretty creative when it comes to their visual aesthetic.

Some things just won't connect with everyone. I love them.
I think their KEXP shows are pretty great though. There's at least 2 on youtube.

Ok People, we're 3 weeks out. What are your top 10 most anticipated sets?
1. The War on Drugs 2. Father John Misty 3. Jenny Lewis 4. Sturgill Simpson 5. Alt-J 6. Portugal. the Man 7. Mondo Cozmo 8. The Decemberists 9. Andy Frasco & The U.N. (Thursday Late Night) 10. The Felice Brothers (Saturday Late Night)

The War on Drugs (really tight live, long instrumental jams in several songs) 5. Jack Johnson (just cuz we've never seen him) 6. Mondo Cozmo 7. Son Little (saw him at Firefly '16- really talented singer-songwriter) 8. Jade Bird 9. Alice Merton ("Roots" is on every station) 10. Kurt Vile
Can't go Friday, but would've loved to see Portugal and Jenny Lewis.

1) The War on Drugs - had to see them this summer, but couldn't fathom seeing them in Camden 2)Jenny Lewis - Have some how never seen her, very excited about that set 3)The Decembrists - Always kill it 4)Sturgill Simpson - Have been wanting to see him since I heard the In Bloom cover 5)Portugal. The Man - That hangout setlist has me amped 6)Father John Misty - The new songs are so good, and the only time I've seen him was his infamous XPN Fest set 7)Alice Merton - No Roots is a JAM 8)Kurt Vile - I've seen him so many times living in Philly, but the great thing about him is all his sets are so different 9)Karl Blau - His album last year was very solid, XPN played the crap out of it here in Philly, its got a couple phenomenal tunes 10)Mondo Cozmo - His/their sound works so much better in a festival setting, it's the proper place to catch a mondo cozmo set

1 - Sturgill Simpson - I've never seen him! 2 - Jenny Lewis - 3 - Mondo Cozmo - I've seen him in a few different settings - I think the mountain will be a the perfect one! 4 - Andy Frasco - late night set - I had a TON of fun last year and the whole band he travels with is crazy talented. My favorite is when he makes everyone change instruments mid song and improvise. I think they're a bit underated due to his total joking and lack of seriousness. 5 - The Decemberists 6 - Anderson East 7 - Lewis Capaldi - him and Jenny overlap and I'm bummed- but I really fell in love with this songwriter. 8 - The War on Drugs 9 - Portugal the Man.
I'm still working my way through some of the artists I'm unfamiliar with - but Sarah Borges may make the list.
'13 Bonnaroo, Mountain Jam, Boston Calling '14 Mountain Jam, Boston Calling '15 Bonnaroo, Mountain Jam, Gathering of the Vibes, Boston Calling '16 Mountain Jam, Firefly, Newport Folk Fest '17 Mountain Jam, Newport Folk Fest, Boston Calling '18 Mountain Jam, Newport Folk Fest '19 Newport Folk Fest '22 Newport Folk Fest
I’m sure my girlfriend has a different list, but here is mine: 1. Sturgill Simpson 2. The War on Drugs 3. PTM 4. The Record Company 5. Father John Misty 6. Partying with Andy Franco again late night 7. Kurt Vile 8. Jenny Lewis 9. Mapache 10. Taurkaz (correct spelling?) late night
We are excited to camp and party with you all. Our camp is open to anyone to anyone that wants to stop by and shoot the shit or play some cornhole. The lineup is deep and I think we will be spending most of our time in the festival grounds, but we head to the campgrounds a few times a day. Can’t wait to see you all on the mountain. It’s almost weather watching time.
