Yeah i mean, I like these bands so I don't care if they're cheap, because I'm getting the two nights of D&C. But I would like to get some adventurous bookings (even if the band is cheap).
Yeah I mean if the rumors of P-Funk, Blues Traveler, etc. are true, they aren't very pricey bands. Both have played the local free shows in cities near me within the past few years. Umph isn't cheap but they aren't in the super upper echelon. WSP is the likely Friday headliner and in terms on headliners they are pretty cheap.
Yeah, d&co are as or more expensive than anyone they've had and it's two nights. ...(the BT/Los colognes show here has been sold out at Variety for a few months but agreed they don't qualify as expensive.)

BT is one of those bands that always gets a good bang for their buck. They played the free Party in the Park series in Rochester last year and drew more people than any show in years. Their set at Peach a few years ago was packed and a highlight of the fest for me (on the rail with a Warren sit in right in front of me). But for some reason they still don't get the booking fees even close to what they used to in their heyday.
I'm with you camden. I like most of the bands. Always looking for something out of the ordinary at these things. If my significant other was into this stuff I'd be going but without her wanting to do any jam fests I am tapped out at Dome and Peach.
I'll probably go regardless because of Dead & Co. just wish the rest of the lineup was more in line w/ last years.
I'm not sure I follow...What is different?
I'm definitely judging prematurely. We'll have to wait to see who else they booked, but I tend to not be a big fan of a lot of straight jam. Umphrey's are great but a band like PPPP do nothing for me.
Last year had a great mix of stuff that's jam-flavored but which I tend to find more interesting like Fogerty, Avetts, Jim James, Margo, etc. The rotting corpse of P-Funk and the blandness of Sheryl and Blues Traveler don't really stack up.
JRAD, Tedeschi Trucks, and Lettuce are always a good time though.
Acts I'd love to see on the lineup: Robert Plant Dispatch Ryan Adams (w/ a guest spot when Dead & Co play "Wharf Rat") White Denim St. Paul & the Broken Bones Hurray for the Riff Raff Nicole Atkins Curtis Harding The Lone Bellow

I imagine we'll get Sturgill Simpson, Turkuaz, Twiddle, Spafford, Barr Brothers maybe.
Could see St. Paul coming back. I don't think White Denim has had new material since they were there. Would always love Ryan Adams and I just HOPE that Curtis Harding pops up on some US Lineups but seems like Newport is more likely to me.

Agreed on Curtis for Newport. Hoping for both though.
White Denim will have a new record some time this year. Not sure when but it's pretty much in the can

How confident are you in Sturgill? Be a huge booking for my group.
Surprised to see the backlash on George Clinton, heard over the years he put on a fun set. I'm also surprised he is playing into the Friday headliner.
I saw George at Peach 2014 and it was a pretty fun set. I have seen him twice since and the show has literally been his grandkids rapping for 75% of it, George asking the crowd for weed for 15% and MAYBE 10% that George actually sings. He is just a hype man now and his grandkids style of music is far from PFunk. Maybe he'll cater to the old school crowd at Lockn but he certainly didnt at Catskill Chill 2016. People were walking away from the set and he was a headliner.
Im surprised they got the preheadliner spot as well.

This is really too bad. I've been digging that new song Parliament put out a week or two ago
I'm definitely on board with George Clinton. He -- or rather, his band -- put on an awesome set when I saw them last summer. But count me as another who is befuddled with the time-slot. That band is definitely a late-night, small-stage act, not a pre-headliner. Going to be very interesting seeing that P-Funk chaos on that massive stage.
I feel like sturgill would be a good fit. He's on a bill for the "jam day" of a fest here in PHX with Phil and terrapin band, big head Todd, the stringdusters, and St. Paul and the broken bones.
I'd be happy to see moe. on the lineup with a set or two.

I really hope moe. gets to come back with Rob and do their own set. So many years of not being at Lockn then finally get invited and that happens. They were on fire last year. Anyone else stream the show last night. It was great.
They announced that The Suffers will be there to make up for cancelling, although it hasn't been added to the schedule yet.
The multiple sets from all these bands feels like a bit of a cop-out but whatever. I should be able to convince some people to join me for at least Sat/Sun

Suffers are on the schedule, kicking Saturday off at 12:30.

Yeah for some reason on the actual schedule page they're not there, but on the Lockn home page they are
