I wonder how much overlap there will be with DC. Based on tour dates, a lot of the big names are out like Bleachers, Conan, Hozier, Maisie, and Remi. Chappell, Janelle, Laufey, and Renee seem to be available
Chappell is playing Gov Ball so I imagine on her next return she'll do her own headlining show. Ditto for Renee. Laufey could be a good bet if the logistics of going from DC to NYC in 1 day are doable.

UPCOMING SHOWS 8/17 - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard @ Forest Hills 9/4 - Pearl Jam @ MSG 9/7 - Pearl Jam @ Wells Fargo Center 9/11 - St. Vincent @ Brooklyn Paramount 9/13 - Lucius/The War on Drugs/The National @ Forest Hills 9/19 - Stars @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Considering part of the FAQ uses the phrase “don’t stress besties” when explaining there’s no overlapping sets, I don’t think it’s aimed for older than Gen Z
Nah, I heard the headliners are going to be Korn and Billy Joel.
Actually there are confirmed rumors about it being the corpse of Ray Charles
I'm clearly out of the loop, because I would've assumed that Julien/MUNA/Janelle were much much bigger than Chappell/Ethel/Renee.
Chappell is pretty much a legit mainstream pop star at this point. If she is actually booked for this thing I could see her people scrambling behind the scenes to get her out of it because she is probably too big for this fest. She could headline a larger venue, or FH itself, on her own.

I feel like the festival universe keeps trying to tell me it's time to move to Southern California. We can't get *one* slightly-more-mature-skewing festival here, while they get Ohana, Just Like Heaven, Desert Daze...New York, I love you, but you're bringing me down.
(I have nothing against Chappell or Renee or anybody - I just continue to be sad we can't sustain something like a JLH or Kilby Block Party here)

I guess it's a way to soft launch Chappell Roan as arena headliner around this festival. Surprised Ethel Cain will be back so soon given she has a Summerstage show in June.

Lol what? She booked the festival, she's playing the festival. Her agents are not scrambling to do anything. She'll play MSG or Barclays on her next solo tour.
Would have much preferred this over Governors Ball as the milestone show in Queens, but what can you do, lol. Good thing I did do Gov Ball though as I can't go to this one anyway, I have PULP that night.
Upcoming Shows (NYC area unless noted): 7/25 Billy Joel 7/30 Beck w/Orch of St. Lukes 8/5 Green Day, etc. 8/21 The Gaslight Anthem 9/7 Bikini Kill 9/10 St. Vincent 9/13 The National, TWOD 9/14 PULP 9/16 Arcade Fire (Red Rocks, CO) 9/27 IDLES 10/3 Brittany Howard/Michael Kiwanuka 10/4 Bleachers 10/6 Vampire Weekend 10/8 Johnny Marr/James 10/9 Sting 10/15 Fontaines DC 10/18 Inhaler
Seems like a bit of overkill given I assume they won’t have new material out.
They should have 2 show specials and hotel packages with babysitting catering to couples for Sept 13 National, TWOD and Sept 14 Killers shows as a Dad Rock/Mom Rock special, lol.

If I weren't already overloaded in September, I could see going on Sunday - Indigo De Souza was great when I saw her at Roo in 2022, Mannequin Pussy kicks ass, and the top 3 are all stellar acts I either haven't seen yet (Ethel Cain) or haven't seen enough (JM and JB).

Saw Charli XCX at BK Paramount last night. Excellent show and first time I've ever seen the line wrapped all the way around the block a full half hour after doors.

goin to the bowery next week and staying close by to the venue. any food and drink recs in the area?
Can't go wrong with Veselka in the East Village, and you're not far from a lot of great dim sum restaurants in Chinatown (Joe's Ginger, Supreme, Dim Sum Go Go), and Indian restaurants on "Curry Row" on 2nd and 1st ave and 5th street (Panna for vibes, Brick Lane for quality food / spiciest food ever).

The Killers added a second show at Forest Hills.
I wonder if a multi-night run at FHS is going to become the viable alternative to arenas for acts coming here to avoid the whole risk of underselling MSG or Barclays.
