Hm...I'm reading that M83 is rumored to have a new album coming out soon...and they're a GovBall '16 alum. I wouldn't mind seeing them come back to the island.

From the, “Things That Would Only Make Me, Personally, Happy” Department: Beirut just announced a new album coming later this year. That’d be a fun early afternoon set.
Pearl Jam/ Kendrick Lamar/ Vampire Weekend The 1975/ Miguel/ SZA/ Lil Wayne/ New Order
Pearl Jam Kendrick Lamar vs The 1975 Vampire Weekend vs Lil Wayne
Or
Kanye/ Mumford & Sons/ Cardi B The 1975/ A$AP Rocky/ Thom Yorke/ Erykah Badu'/ Death Cab for Cutie
Mumford vs A$AP Rocky Cardi B vs Thom Yorke Kanye
A bit of both would be cool. I'm gonna start leaving PJ out as they're Founders grail and they kinda seem like a super best case, slightly unrealistic scenario
Kendrick • Cardi • Vampire Weekend Lil Wayne • The 1975 • SZA • Thom Yorke • A$AP Rocky • New Order
Kendrick • New Order Cardi • Thom Yorke Vampire Weekend • Lil Wayne
If Kendrick doesn't have a new album by then, Kids See Ghosts seems possible

Kendrick is probably playing Glasto so I don't think a new album is needed.

Would be nice though. He toured DAMN. for a year plus, including the Championship run. I've seen it three times and as incredible as the show is, it'll be kinda tired by 2019. But I suppose at this point in time, having Kendrick would be miles better than Kanye.
Honestly, I'm secretly hoping Ariana is the Number One. If not her, Rihanna

Not really familiar with SHM. I know they were pretty big before their break, are they still that big now? Like, close the main stage big? Genuinely curious. Not that it serves as a measurement of anything, but GB hasn't had an EDM-type closer since that technical difficulty-ridden deadmau5 set

tbh I don't know what Ariana will be doing in June. She seems to be taking a step out of the limelight after the Mac/Pete stuff on top of the Manchester thing. I hope she takes some time off to get her mental health in order. She also just doesn't like touring.
Nothing against Ariana but I don't think I could handle that going that day.
I'm sure they'd have some great, older skewed counter programming but the crowd that day would be new levels of young.
youd be surprised, her fanbase isnt as young as youd think. I dont think her playing a multi genre music festival like this is a great idea though, I dont know if the show would work as well

Their reunion tour will be very popular. Realistically Electric Zoo needs to book them, but I won't be shocked to see them on the top line at Gov Ball.

that would be pretty cool. I'd guess they play MSG instead but Id like SHM
Honestly, if Jack White can headline this thing then both The 1975 and/or Vampire Weekend can close out the main stage.
I wouldn't be shocked if Vampire Weekend headline, I just think it's a bit of a reach. As I've been saying, though, I definitely think The 1975 can headline. They did Barclays AND Madison Square Garden on their last album cycle. The demand is there. I don't think VW are that popular anymore, but as you said if Jack White and Phoenix can do it, so can they.

Tweet from The 1975 guitarist seems to confirm it:

I guess if you want to keep expectations in check you can assume The 1975 as a headliner and hope for them not to be. A lot of people in this thread seem to think they can headline.
So _______/Cardi B/ The 1975 is my best guess so far
Cardi B seems extremely obnoxious for this but, given the way the festival crowds have been trending, I guess makes perfect sense.
the question is if shes the #1 or not. Her slot for the Jingle Ball tour (headliner in NYC and LA), is the same spot that Taylor Swift had the year before.
when in the fuck did Cardi and The 1975 become headliners??
still working on why everyone thinks The 1975 is a headliner but this is apparently the consensus. Now to Cardi, shes selling extremely well for every show shes doing and headlining shows that are exclusively larger arenas and they are selling out. Shes doing The Weeknd's spot at Powerhouse and Taylor Swift's spot at Jingle Ball And its NYC. Pretty clear shes a headliner

I'm still holding out hope that the 1975 won't headline. Lots of big artists have played earlier in the day (i.e., second to last on the main stage) in this festival's history.

Vampire Weekend appeared to pack out Lollapalooza and had a very engaged crowd. I could only assume the same and more for a show in NY.
