it really just depends on how much Founders cares about a packed main stage. 2 years in a row Honda drew a bigger crowd on alt-rock night with Phoenix and Jack White.
Maybe they don't care, Tame will probably outdraw both those last 2. But if they are against a hot-right-now hip-hop or pop act right now, it'll happen again.
I wasn’t there this year, so I can’t speak on whoever was against Jack White (Post Malone?).
But for Phoenix, I think Founders vastly underestimated how popular childish gambino would be. But, you raise a very good point.
Jack White was against James Blake. Post played the Honda stage against Yeah Yeah Yeahs in the Sundown Slot.
I don't think Blake had a bigger crowd than White this year. I was at the Honda Stage during that set (good set, lots of feels and wub-wubs), but it was very lightly populated.

Damn y'all really got Launch outta here? That's unfortunate. Seemed like a pretty alright person, plus the scoops!
Maybe (hopefully) Tame is possible here? Not sure how long Live Nation has been running Shaky Knees but we shared Jack White this year, Phoenix last, and flip flopped The Strokes and Florence in 2016 and 2015, respectfully.
I think a top line of Cardi • Vampire Weekend • Tame Impala would go over fairly well even if the demo for this is young, and Founders can hold a rap and pop headliner for Meadows 2019
Stormzy goes from 3PM set on the Honda Stage in 2017 to Glastonbury headliner in 2019
Wow, wild. Good for him, though. One of the very few grime artists I try to keep up with. Gang Signs & Prayer was and is still great. He's gotta have something huge cooking to propel him into a spot like that

Gerard Way dropped another single today. If we're not getting a MCR reunion any time soon, this will do for now. He'd be a pretty cool late afternoon act
Not new news, but The 1975 have to be a lock now. They were supposed to be at Darien (upstate NY) on 6/1 and Toronto 6/3. They moved the Darien date today to 5/29 without explanation.

I can certainly see Foo Fighters doing this. A festival run of Temple - BC - Gov Ball - Bonnaroo.. Maybe even Firefly again since they don't have any issue with returning headliners so quickly

I would consider returning if it was a lineup. I only did a day in '17 and I thought that was more than enough. It wasn't my favorite festival but it was good day with great sets. I put it on par with Boston Calling. Great city, festival outside the acts is pretty dull, but has had some good lineups with good scheduling.
I am expecting Gov Ball to swing for the fences with the lineup this year with Panorama dying off (RIP).
Given the competition that same weekend in Europe, I unfortunately don't see them booking any different from the past couple years.
Yeah, I really wish they'd gone for the next weekend to keep it all in June and finally dodge competition from Primavera Sound. I'm going to be sweating that lineup drop.
Gov ball isn’t going to be good. I’d like for it be. I’d like to be wrong. There will probably be some gems. But the direction it’s been headed, not really high hopes.

I suppose "good" is all relative. I was kind of worried at this point last year, and then they booked a festival with parallel tracks that had me checking out plenty of the kind of acts I was sure GovBall was done booking at that point in its existence. I saw 29 sets there, last year, and only two of them were ones I just kind of settled on seeing because there wasn't anybody playing at the time that I really wanted to check out.
I dunno. I'm always dreading that one year is going to be the time when I finally can't find anything I like in a GovBall lineup, but it hasn't happened, yet, so I'm giving Founders the benefit of the doubt unless and until they drop a real stinker on us.
