Drake - Chainsmokers - Mumford & Sons
Does anyone else find it weird that haven't Gov Ball haven't had one Main Stage headliner who is female or a female-led group? The closest thing was Robyn in 2016 and Lana Del Rey in 2015 as Honda Stage headline counter programming.

Lorde and YYYs were considered headliners. But yeah I am all for a female main stage closer. Heres hoping for Sia or Rihanna next year.

Oh believe me, Lorde and Yeah Yeah Yeahs are headliner caliber acts in my book. But it's pretty weird that not one female-led act has closed the Main Stage yet.

I dont think this is that surprising. The Rock and Rap industries are heavily men oriented. Firefly and Hangout have only had 1 female headliner which was Florence and Gov Ball got her too but got her as a sub instead of a headliner. But I could see Cardi B headlining Gov Ball next year potentially
Ah, can't believe I didn' think of this. Limp Bizkit closing the Honda Stage playing Significant Other in full celebrating its 20th anniversary. Miller Lite sales through the roof!

Here's a question: Are we looking at this happening a week later, next year? Doing it the first weekend in June would mean starting 5/31, and I don't think GovBall has ever had a May start date. So, we're more likely looking at 6/7-6/9, yeah?

I think it's usually the weekend after memorial day weekend so wherever that falls next year. Whatever weekend, I am legitimately expecting a large shift away from indie, alt, rock and anything that does NOT appeal to the 16-24 demo.

I don't know - I anticipated that this year, too, after Sunday 2017 drew so poorly...and then this year's lineup was pretty robust on the rock side of things. And they still sold out two of the days. So, yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if you were right, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they kept to the kind of eclectic booking they've always done.

In 2015 it was 2 weeks after, so I'm guessing 6/7-6/9 is right.

I am wondering how Bonnaroo moving a week later is going to effect tour routing... Also really curious to see if Roo and Firefly really land on the same weekend next year.

It'll also be interesting if Governors Ball claims the first full weekend in June (6/7-6/9), since Primavera is already scheduled for 5/31-6/1. That'd eliminate some booking competition, as well.

I'm wondering if Founders is still going to pursue any indie/rock type stuff for 2019 or if they'll just fully embrace hip-hop/edm/pop like Made In America. Is seems like the 2-3 guys who started the company are rock fans which could be why they give nods to bands like Yeah Yeah Yeahs even if the average festival-goers these don't really care.

I think 2 of the top 4 will still be rock. Now twenty one pilots will probably be one of the two, but still

FWIW, after this year's festival ended I, as I've done the past three years, sent an e-mail to the main GovBall address just basically thanking them for the festival, and imploring them to please keep their philosophy of booking a bunch of different genres (including rock) despite the way the crowds shaped up at various sets (what can I say? I get emotional on the come-down). This was the first year they replied, basically saying, "Yep, we're going to do that."
So, you know, that was nice. I don't know how materially it'll manifest next year, but there you go.
