The lack of updates regarding the amount of tickets left make me fairly confident this is selling poorly or at least not as well as previous years
Eh, we haven’t gotten those updates until some time in May the past few years; I think the only exception to that I remember was Sunday 2016 thanks to the Kanye effect.

Ah my mistake...ignore me haha
I mean, don't get me wrong; were I a betting man, I'd bet on this year's fest underselling relative to past installments. We just don't have any indication one way or the other, yet.
Thoughts: - RIP mini-golf. - Five water refill stations, which I believe is two more than last year. Awesome. - Love the addition of another 21+ area next to the Honda Stage. - I still wish there were more food options in the 21+ areas.

OK, so, NOW we've passed the point at which, last year, we were getting "low ticket warning" e-mails about individual days being close to selling out, and we're only a couple days away from that marker (5/12) in 2017. I could be proven wrong if we receive e-mails like that in the next couple of days, but I think this is a fairly clear indication this thing is underselling relative to past installments.
I'm guessing Friday might get a boost when the new Tyler album drops, if the announcement hasn't already done it...but, still, interesting times.

Seems clear at this point that Florence doesn’t draw. She had floor seats for sale in the $20 ticket deal from Live Nation in some cities

She also had a bunch of open dates around her Barclays show last year which indicates that they had a second night on hold but demand wasn't there. As I've also pointed out, she played Brooklyn 3 times last year. The 1975 really should have headlined Friday over TTC and been given a full set.

I guess, but I wouldn't put it all on Flo. It's not like Friday and Sunday are any closer by current indicators, so I think there's also something to be said for Tyler not being a headliner-level artist and the Strokes being a not-so-inspired choice in a world in which they haven't released any new music since their last time in that slot.
Florence put out an album that was void of a hit, it's not surprising seeing her struggle to move tickets. If you're a non-legacy guitar based act trying to target the 18-35 market, good luck moving tickets if you put out a mediocre album.

Yeah that's fair. It seems like Gov Ball wasn't able to get top tier headliners and also didn't really get a decent mid-card. Additionally, I think the 16-22 year old audience just has a ton of options this year so if they're looking for an event to "get lit" at, Gov Ball is one of many possibilities.

Gov ball has two of the hotter tours of the year on that Saturday, 1975 and Kacey, and can’t sell it out. On the headliner at that point

I'm not disagreeing there, but what I'm saying is that Friday and Sunday don't appear close to selling out, either. Big picture, there's something going on here that's not just about Florenece...although, yes, I 100% agree that Florence isn't drawing.

Agree that The 1975 should've headlined. Especially if the rumors are true that they're doing 2 nights at MSG in the fall, then clearly they have more of a demand than any of these headliners/subheadliners.
I think they didn’t really put much into this year because the fest turns a profit every year and next year is the 10th anniversary so they’ll probably go as hard as they can afford to.

This year is pretty clearly featuring a dip. Passes on Stubhub are down to $207 today. They never dipped below $275 in the past. More giveaways too from what I've seen.
Just a case that none of the 3 headliners are home runs. Tyler is subbing other fests. Florence has entered the Arcade Fire chapter of "great show, but tired and no one gets excited about it". And I am the biggest Strokes fan there is an even I'm like "ugh fine i'll go watch them play the same set for an 1:15".
I think the undercard has some real gems though so pumped for the cheap weekend.

Oh wow, where are you hearing those rumors and do you know what month that is potentially going to be?
