Yeah I don’t think there’s much difference experience-wise or viability-wise if there’s 40k people per day vs 42k or whatever the capacity here is. It’s still gonna be packed and they’ll still make money, I’d imagine.

I'm shocked Sunday is selling better than Friday. I guess it's the kids-in-school factor? Not much on Sunday that's buzzy and currently hot.
Also kinda surprising they whiffed on Billie Eilish. That's the kind of up-and-coming, catch-it-early booking that Founders usually nails. She would have sold out a day, regardless of the rest, on her own.

Billie Eilish was on the bill last year, and GovBall very rarely books artists in back-to-back years.
I mean, there's a first time for everything, so maybe they could've just gone for it. I dunno.

Whether we all like it or not, Billie Eilish is a potential headliner in 2020

It's the week of the fest, y'all. Still no notification about any day selling out. I really wonder what the crowd will be like. I certainly wouldn't mind a dip in attendance just in terms of navigability and everything, but I have to imagine it's only going to be a small one.
Sat VIP will be packed which is kind of frustrating but oh well. I'm going Friday during the day and peacing out after M0 so I imagine I will be dealing with small crowds. Saturday, on the other hand, will be the usual shitshow of navigating around vomiting and stumbling teenagers.

Finally caved and bought a 3 Day pass from StubHub for $230 after fees. Looking forward to this weekend! The forecast says rain for Sunday, so lets hope it's not a torrential downpour. Also hoping the crowds are on the lighter side!
Still on the hunt for a way into the U.S. Girls after show if anyone's got a lead.
One of my worst ticket-buying blunders in a long time
Sometimes venues might have tickets on door - even though they say there won't be any. I was rarely rejected entrance to sold out shows in NYC when I lived there. So you might have a good chance!

Yeah this is my plan if I don't have any luck beforehand

This may be a question that's been asked before, but how's the alcohol situation at this fest? How expensive are beers typically and is it possible/easy to sneak alcohol in? Trying to figure out how much money I'll be spending this weekend!

I want to say beers are $10 (and up, if you go for the fancy stuff), but that's for, like, a 16-oz. can. I haven't typically bought cocktails, so I'm not sure how much they are, but they're not cheap.
I think sneaking alcohol in isn't easy due to the volume - they're going to search your bag on at least a cursory level, and chances are you'll get patted down. I've heard folks talk about bringing clear liquor in water bottles they've re-sealed (it seems like a lot of work to me, but there you go), since you're allowed to bring in two factory-sealed water bottles.

have you done the water bottle trick. that works for this fest.

its pretty easy tbh. takes about 15 minutes all said and done

If Lil Wayne shows up (big if) i have no idea how the Bacardi stage is going to handle his crowd. That is a tiny stage that's kinda in the way of everything and his crowd will be massive.

Yeah...I gotta say that stage is always the worst part of my experience at GovBall if there is a popular artists for the 15-25 year old core demo performing.
I was fortunate the last 2 years to catch Manchester Orchestra, Tash Sultana, and Against Me at that stage and is was relatively empty as they are not for the core audience so that worked out but totally agree that Lil Wayne will cause massive foot traffic jams and a over packed stage

By 4:00 pm til close it'll be all kids around Gov Ball Stage and Bacardi stage which works for me, no big crowds for Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Hippo Campus, Mitski, Jorja Smith (or rest in the 21+ area), The Voidz and Gesaffelstein.
Sucks for Blood Orange fans that it'll be packed with Wayne campers, sadly I could see myself skipping that and checking out MØ instead.

It looks like the Bacardi Stage no longer has the tent like in years past. I skipped last year so idk if that was also the case.
Imagine that should clear up some of the crowd problems there.
thats how it was last year and it made the crowd worse actually cause it spilled out into the main walking path to get to Govball. they probably fixed it this year tho

I had the opposite experience. I thought opening up that area helped the traffic on that side of the field a lot relative to when there was a tent, even when there was a crowd.
Unrelated but I RSVP'd for the Derrick Carter show at Le Bain. Do I need to show up right at 10 to get in?
More unrelated: I have an extra ticket to sleep no more on june 3 for 7pm with a gallow green beforehand reservation for sale! will do $110 for it you'd save the service fee!

Day of the show, y'all. Not the most hyped I've eve been for a GovBall day, but them's the breaks in this festival era when you're an old fucker like me!
