Greta Van Fleet is out playing Forest Hills the week before. The promotion for this added leg of the 2019 tour is crazy. Headlining some big venues and tickets start at $52.50 in Rochester. Crazy.

Considering that's what I paid to see the Queens of the Stone Age and Royal Blood this year at the dome, that is insane.
Vampire Weekend seems likely for this....until they get a legendary relevant rock act I won't say PJ.....Cardi B def seems what the kids are into these days...so Im going with....
Kanye....Cardi B...Vampire Weekend...Mumford and Sons....EDM person.....Anderson Paak
Other potentials: Death Cab...Taking Back Sunday (30th anniversary tour playing Tell All Your Friends)....Lana Del Rey (new album 2019)

Alright, so, now I have a whole new reason to not want Kanye to be booked for GovBall '19: The thought of the festival being invaded that day by a bunch of MAGA hat-wearing chodes. Talk about killing the vibe.

AM isn’t happening. Rumor has it that they will be playing MSG in June.
Any more rumors about a broader spring/summer tour next year?
I whiffed on pulling tix for their Hollywood show in May, a work trip came up last minute this week so I won't be seeing them in LA this week, and I took the summer/fall off from festivals. Feel like everyone and their brother but me will see them this tour that wants to, so I'd be down for one more tour round next year.

Someone on reddit is saying they talked to members of Bob Moses last night after their show, and that they were saying they're likely playing. Grain of salt, and all, but I'd be down for that.

I’m not sure, but I was a little off on my reporting. The MSG show could actually be in early 2019 with Bonnaroo and a UK fest appearance (it’s not Glastonbury, but Isle of Wight?) in June. They also have plans for a headlining UK show (presumably in Sheffield?). Maybe they are doing a limited amount of shows to focus on working on a new record?

Don't really listen to em but have been wanting to check em out. I'm assuming at this point they're big enough to sub, or maybe even close the Honda Stage?
I see The 1975 as closing the Honda Stage but probably not a main stage closer. That being said, they definitely can move more tickets in the area at this point than Jack White and Phoenix so I suppose headlining is possible. Depends on if Founders wants to take a gamble on if these two new albums do well in the States.
GovBall has become for mainly all teenagers and college students, right? Perfect demographic for The 1975.
Founders dudes are rock fans so I think they do a good job of throwing in good counter-programming for the "old" people but after seeing the crowd this year, I can't think of any reason to cater to indie/alt/rock fans in 2019.

Regardless of what the Founders dudes say about curating the lineups in their recent Reddit AmA's, it's become very clear that their partners at Live Nation have final say as to who gets to play up in this bitch.
if The 1975 headline this thing, it would be a real shame. it would be founders and live nation completely mailing it in and assuming that this lineup will sell no matter what due to 16 year olds wanting to get drunk

lol this is a lame take. the 1975 are definitely big enough to headline and are only trending up with two new albums coming. mailing it in was booking Eminem coming off his worst album

Eminem who doesnt tour pretty much at all vs The 1975 who has been everywhere. The 1975 is a cheaper and less inspired headliner

Not really fair. "The headliners booked don't appeal to my tastes so is lame" does not equal mailing it in. I get the feeling many of us on this forum are growing older and are used to festivals catering to our tastes. For anyone above the age of, say, 25 at this point, your tastes are likely just not going to be catered to for events of this scale.

heres what i mean by that. If you love the The 1975, or even moderately like The 1975, you have seen them at this point. They have been everywhere. As an example of something the younger demo would like and wouldnt be mailing it in IMO, I present Cardi B or as an example from this year, Travis Scott

Yes, and they're now coming back with two new albums coming out. Rather than Eminen who hit every major fest off his worst album yet

they are dropping two albums in the next couple of months? To be clear, I think the new The 1975 is pretty good. Its more that in years past this would be a band that would be subbing. I hope they still are, as they are subbing Coachella it would seem
