11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
Bummer? I think this is a win. It's not like going to 3 days helped the lineup at all.
I disagree, I thought that the undercard was the best part of the lineup and stretching that thin over 4 days instead of three would be a mistake. Also will be really hard properly book those cool new side stages with solid talent when you have to give up 20 acts to Thursday.

I didn’t expect anything more than just the dates. I don’t see early bird selling out, especially since the lineups haven’t been good in recent years. This lineup needs to be at least average or this thing is in serious trouble.

My guess is they will go back to the four headliners deal as well so early prediction: Foo Fighters - Billie Eilish - Tame Impala - Lizzo
I think this would sell well. Foo is a solid live act, Billie sold out her entire arena tour in seconds, Tame should have a new album by then lol, and Lizzo is skyrocketing.

I agree to an extent, but I think the impact of Thursday to the overall lineup has been exaggerated. The top act on Thursday is usually the #15-20 top billed act of the overall lineup, with a few acts in the 20-40 range and the rest basically filler. In 2018 Chromeo was the top act and they were the last billed act of the 4th line (#19 overall). Hardly impactful to the overall budget I'd say. Black Bear was the 29th billed act, Chicano Batman was #37, and Everything Everything #43 rounds out the top 4. Granted, 2018 had easily the worst Thursday lineup of the 5 years Firefly has a 4th day. At worst, Thursday steals one solid 2nd or 3rd line act of each Fri-Sun day.
Also, I have to believe the top line of PATD - Travis Scott - Post Malone was the lease expensive Firefly has ever had, which certainly impacted the rest of the 2019 lineup. Hell, Paul probably cost as much as all of them combined.

I love Modest Mouse (their material) but they are VERRRRRY hit and miss live. I think I've seen them 5 times and 3 times have been good and 2 times bad.

I saw their lead singer have an ugly meltdown once for literally the dumbest reason, like a broken guitar string or something and it just kind of turned me off to them pretty much for good

Yea I was enjoying their show a couple years ago at Forecastle Fest, one of the decent shows I saw of them. After the last song (which was unknown to anyone at the time), they just left the stage. Like, the most anticlimactic ending ever. No wave, no long guitar riff to signal the ending, nothing. Everyone in the crowd was just sort of like "Wait WTF? That's it?". Normally it wouldn't be weird but they were the headliner. I mean, usually you expect something.

Exactly. It sounds like the sign of a band who maybe has been on tour too long and are just playing the notes with nothing behind them. They're playing at you instead of to you. sad
I maybe alone but the last three times I’ve seen Modest Mouse I’ve had a great time. Last time at Firefly was my first time and I was way in the back but was amazed at how many songs I knew alone. Second time they headlined are Anthem, I didn’t really get the set list but I thought it was a pretty weird and different take on a show. Not good but not bad. Third time was just a week ago when they opened for The Black Keys. I had a fuckin great time with that 13 song set list. And the way he just walked off stage after, rockstar. I dug the shit out of that set. I guess it is hit or miss but honestly I’d see them anytime they are around.
