Here we are on Newport’s Eve. We’ve all been waiting all year for this wonderful weekend. A weekend of music discovery, a weekend to catch up with familiar faces, that we may only see once a year. The most happiest group of people, pouring into Fort Adams for one weekend a year, and it’s here! See y’all soon! Hope to see some new folks this year! Just remember...it’s not a sprint....it’s a marathon! Don’t burn yourselves out by Friday night!
Let’s Tasjam Tonight!
Ditto. I am the most outgoing, yet shy guy you could meet. But would like to say hello. In the past I've been told to look for this tent or that spot, but felt like I was in high school trying to going the college paper with all those tall friendly hippies racing about. "I'd like to ummm..." was all I could muster. That was good enough for them. Hope to meet some of you this weekend.
Very excited for the fest. Would love to meet anyone from the board. Where is that quack club going to be located this year?
I’m not sure it’s taken me longer than hour and fifteen minutes to get out of the parking lot at the end of the day while driving. Has anyone else been stuck for much longer than that?
I've had over an hour and a half before.
Any time you end up top of the hill way in the back, it's easily an hour plus. Sometimes I've packed a cooler for the parking lot waiting.

We are still looking for 3 Deer Tick Sunday. Have Deer Tick Friday to trade, or can purchase.
Does anyone know any details about the Rayland Baxter show at Gurney's? That sounds amazing. I wonder what the cap is for capacity. Definitely going to wander over there!

I think someone put a link one or two pages back. Great username by the way.

Phil Lesh will offer a very special set at Newport, RI’s annual Newport Folk Festival this Friday, July 26. The Grateful Dead bassist has already confirmed that his Terrapin Family Band will be joining him on the Newport stage, but Lesh will likely embrace a bit of the 60-year-old festival’s trademark hootenanny spirit.
A number of musicians in Lesh’s orbit are slated to perform at Newport Folk on Friday, including longtime collaborator Warren Haynes, recent Friend and Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench, and Lukas Nelson, who has spent part of the summer on the road with Lesh and his Family Band as part of the Outlaw Music Festival Tour. Kacey Musgraves and Sheryl Crow, Americana performers who draw from the Dead’s rootsier side, are also confirmed to play the main Fort stage before Lesh.
A lot of this is largely speculation, but there's absolutely no way I'll miss this set, because of the potential of sit-ins as mentioned above (one of many reasons).
Also, hi! I've been lurking in this thread for the past few years (sixth Newport this year) but I finally made an account today since I can't focus on much else. This thread is almost as much of a part of the festival experience as the actual festival for me at this point.

I'm surprised they didn't have The Highwomen's set, or the two closing sets on Saturday or Sunday for streaming on the schedule. Friday and Sunday seem pretty light compared to Saturday, so I'm actually not sure if that's the entire streaming schedule.
Jason’s IG just posted that he’s heading to Newport as a sideman. But this isn’t a shocker
Obviously expect him at a few sets but I'm hoping he hops out for the song he and Todd Snider just recorded together for Todd's new album.
Wondering if the two of them will both be at Charlie Crockett and Friends at the Parlor. They all seem to be affiliated with the Thirty Tigers distribution (as well as Liz Cooper and the Stampede.) ** also Bruce Hornsby released through them backing up my earlier outrageous claim.
I really need one kid's three-day pass. I've been next in line for kids' singles for Friday, Saturday and Sunday on Lyte for almost a week and I'm surprised not one has hit. My daughter just turned three a couple months ago, so this is the first time she needs a ticket.
I'm also on the hunt for two regular tickets for Saturday and Sunday, each.
I have one extra Hiss aftershow I can offer as partial trade for any of this.
New HighWomen song is out now and is solid. I feel like it will be better received by those on this board; more folky than pop country and doesn’t sound too different from Brandi’s solo stuff. That said, it’s not anything “wow”ing either.
How am I going to listen to all of the new albums before I see these bands today!!
