I've been so busy, I somehow missed that we really started announcing people! I saw "If I had a song" and then didn't notice anything else until Phil. Super solid so far. Jade Bird blew me and @abba away when she opened for Colter last spring. Never heard Bonny Light Horseman, but I love all three and excited to see what they put together. Haven't seen Anais' name in a bit. Always love some Gregory Alan Isakov.I know I have seen Todd Snider's name around- I think from here?- and looking forward to checking him out.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Wasn’t If I Had a Song announced as the final set on Sunday? I know we always go back and forth each year as to whether or not these sets are headliners, but they have been in the past.
I remember last year thinking Sturgill was Friday’s headliner only for Jason Isbell to be added later. I could see something similar playing out again. Hell... is Lesh as close to the National as Bob is? Would be cool to see Lesh into the National and Friends.
Ah right right, forgot about that set. Yea I imagine that will be the headliner Sunday with a pretty big act right before it.
Normally I’d guess that Phil Lesh would be a headliner, but it’s almost impossible for me to believe that we have 2 headliners in early January with about 3 months left of announcements.
So I’m going to boldly predict that Lesh is going to be a pre-headliner.
Could also see him closing the Quad so they can do a longer set like American Acoustic

Sorry about the delay everyone. Was going to get to it over the Holidays and ended up having too much fun with family. Have now completed the cards and posted them into a Google Doc that I have shared here. For those of you that specified a particular order, I did my best to follow along. For those that went with random, I plugged them into the recommended Bingo Card generator and it randomized them for me.
As for my card, I sent my picks along to TimBobSnow in the beginning to give myself a sense of dignity, but will follow the tradition of MrPotatoTrooper and consider myself ineligible to win (not to mention that I am off to an awful start with my picks.)
Let me know if anyone has any questions and I hope the remaining artists are as great as those that have already been announced.
As for current standings we have AndyD with five correct picks (if you include Phil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band with Warren Haynes and Ryan Adams which i am prone to do since he is the only one with Phil Lesh in any form.) Next is Strawman with four correct picks and then a bunch of people tied with three correct.
Please check your card for any errors I may have made in converting it into format and let me know if you see anything.
Watching NoName, and thinking shed be a great fit for the hip hop booking this year. So good! Just checked the cards to see if anyone had her, but doesn’t look it.
I had .paak on mine...but he’s playing BC so I’m not so sure now.

So, oddly enough, I am working in Newport at the end of this week. Never been to the fest, this year will be my first. Any recommendations on places to eater things to visit
Should we count out any of the artists announced for Green River Festival? Namely, First Aid Kit, Rhiannon Giddens and Devil Makes Three? www.greenriverfestival.com/
Goodness, that's one heck of a start. Would love to see all three at Newport. I assume assume there could be a couple of crossovers despite the close proximity and date.
Here's the other thing -- for a couple of years I really enjoyed the slow rollout of a lot of people I've barely heard of, and admittedly a few who I think are assembly line replaceable. The tease and speculation is fun. But I'd rather be a bit more amped up about some of the performers now than in May -- even as I discovered many new favorites last year.
Speaking of which, sure hope either War and Treaty or Low-cut Connie, who have really been doing well, receive a return ticket.

It looks like in previous years there were some crossover acts, but usually further down on the lineup. I'm liking the announced artists so far, oddly enough it's a couple of the bigger names like Lesh and Isakov that I'm more eh about currently. Totally on the same page with War and Treaty and LCC, both were a blast.
Newport Festivals Foundation has made a donation on behalf of Liz Cooper to support Music 4 More to provide instruments for struggling school and community music programs, including music therapy programs for veterans and active military.
Saw Liz open for Phosphorescent and they were incredible. I did some listening up to the show to know some tracks and the album is good but she really makes those songs shine live.
