Margo Price also has those exact tour dates. Thus, if her supergroup with Brandi was to play, it would also have to be Sunday, and she’d have to be comfortable doing it mid-tour. That seems unlikely - but I guess if she’s only on a song or two it wouldn’t be too hard.
But Margo in the area, even if not on the lineup, with a few days until the next show, bodes well for a quick Sing a Long stopover.

based on fact that they all played last year and Amanda Shire's little media slip up getting shut down quickly, my best bet would be Highwomen headlining the fort NEXT year.
gives them time to assemble, write, record. gives brandi a year off to focus on her festival. and then lets her and margo return with friends to make good on the goal they mentioned this year prior to "9 to 5" of more women headlining festivals.
Can Phoebe just be this year’s resident musician playing with both boygenius and whatever this above project ends up being.
Also, is anyone else carefully tracking summer dates by Lucy, Phoebe, and Julien anxiously hoping none of them announce a tour that would rule out the project at Newport? Julien is the most iffy so far with shows in Europe in early June and then again mid-August.
Also, I really really hope Kacey does not get booked for a solo set but gets to bring her band along. I love her in front of her all-male Nashvillian hipster backing band so much.

This might not go over well, but I saw her at Farm Aid last year and was not that impressed...
It’ll be good to break some conflicts that I’m sure will happen though.

Solo? Or with her band?
I saw her at a small/medium venue and had a blast. One of the more diverse country music crowds, I’d imagine (that’s not saying much though.. haha). She had people dancing around and little girls came out in their own pageant gowns.
She also allows for a variety of guest appearances: Brandi, Willie, John Prine, her husband... any others I’m missing?

I think Lukas stole the day and pretty much made everyone else on the bill forgetable
I’m headed to Denver in September just curious if any of you guys have any feedback on places to stay or more importantly to avoid?
I stumbled upon the Be on Key Psychedelic Ripple on new year's day last year and it was one of my favorite memories ever. I highly recommend it if divey Grateful Dead bars are up your alley. It's not a place to stay or not to stay, but I needed to throw that one in. I have stayed a bunch of different places, but nothing stands out as a must or a don't. Message tronik!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Thank you! Anything divey is up my alley, I’ll be there for Phish so I’m sure the wooks will be out in full force.
OMG... Better Oblivion Community Center just dropped their entire debut album tonight.
I didn’t know how much I needed a Conor Oberst and Phoebe Bridgers album.
Plz be on the lineup; plz be on the lineup; plz be on the lineup.
I feel like this band was made with the sole purpose of playing the festival. God damn the album is so good.
I’m not entirely convinced that this band was created for any reason other than to be k2b’s top streamed artist in 2019.
Two of my favorite artists - one representing late two-thousand-teens me and the other representing early two-thousands me - joining together to channel a genre that I have always loved, but always considered to be underexplored - emo folk - akin to early Bright Eyes, Pedro the Lion, some Get Up Kids, Elliot Smith, and more recently Pinegrove and maybe Hop Along.
Boygenius was great; Better Oblivion Community Center is excellent.
This may be a premature assessment, as I haven’t even truly explored the album, but after two quick listens - one last night and one this morning - I’m fairly convinced it will stick.

Album is great so far. FWIW Dawes social says the backingg band on many tracks is griff and wylie. Despite what some say, the boys are due for a return and this could be a nice happy convenience
Anybody know how much guitarwork Nick Zinner contributed to the project? And if he’ll be touring with them? I noticed him in the Stephen Colbert set and saw him mentioned briefly in regards to a single song in the Rolling Stone review.
YESSS. Another great booking Newport. I was pretty high on Billy Strings playing last year when he was in the area and NFF was adding some late Museum Set acts. Real happy he made it on this year.
I’m not sure if I’ve danced as hard since the show I saw with him and Don Julin.

Newport Festivals Foundation has made a donation on behalf of Billy & Molly to support The Nashville School of Traditional Country Music to underwrite a brand new class offering in 2019. This class will focus on bluegrass flat picking guitar styles, a la Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle, and will be designed to teach children alongside their parents, in order to foster and encourage musical fellowship in the homes of Nashville families
On a side note... any opinions on the new Vampire Weekend tracks?
Has more of a jangly-folk-pop feel than some of their older stuff. Could see them as a headliner, this year, maybe? I know they’ll be touring on a new album, but they did the festival headlining rounds last year so that may free them up for a smaller fest like Newport.
love the new VW, particularly "harmony hall." would be great to see them but something tells me they are fetching a bit too money cash this year.
EDIT: just got word from a very very very reliable source on VW that they will not be part of NFF this year
what a morning of music, giving me a serious case of schiz: better oblivion, new vampire weekend singles, new ryan adams single, new NFF announcement of Strings/Tuttle, new Frank Turner EP...I am not doign much work this morning as a result
